February 19, 200719 yr I have 45 ranging right now, and I want to work it up to 70+ for a crystal bow among other things. ~WHERE should I train? (e.g. Lessers in Karamja) ~WHAT should I use to train? (e.g. Iron knives on rapid) **I'm not using a cannon** Other relevant stats: 45 ranging, 64 defense, 65 hitpoints, 46 prayer. I'd prefer the training to be as cheap as possible I'm fine with training on something that doesn't have good drops, however good drops are preferable.
February 19, 200719 yr I have 45 ranging right now, and I want to work it up to 70+... You could reach your goal with about 10600 Iron arrows if you picked them up. ~WHERE should I train? (e.g. Lessers in Karamja)... I always liked the 2 lessers on the top of Crandor Island. There are safe spots to the N and SE of their area. They drop rune meds, mith shields, gold, etc. If you use Curse pulling then you don't even need to bother with healing food. Hope this helps
February 19, 200719 yr you could always train on experements but they are far apart. i always use zammy book and iron knives on rapid Best nest to date, two in one swing...1,001st to 99 Firemaking.3 Barrows drops: Torags legs, Dharoks legs, Veracs plateskirt
February 19, 200719 yr Train on druids in tavelry near alter then you can use eagle eye. Buy bronze arrows from ardy general store get about 15k www.di-rs.com
February 19, 200719 yr you said it your self, lessers with iron knifes/arrows on rapid. Its the best way.
February 19, 200719 yr Author It's looking like the verdict is lessers on Crandor with iron knives on rapid. I'll settle on this unless I find something better.
February 19, 200719 yr It's looking like the verdict is lessers on Crandor with iron knives on rapid. I'll settle on this unless I find something better. There are 2 or 3 safe spots on the Northern edge and 1 just south of the Eastern edge. Can you can pick up your knives? (I'm F2P) If you can, then always pull the monster over to your safe spot with a Curse before starting to throw. That way, everything will be in the monster loot pile when it dies just outside your safe spot. Also, you shouldn't need much, if any, food at all since you will rarely get hit. Hope this helps

Same thing, but the runes are a LOT easier to come by.
February 20, 200719 yr i'm not much of a ranger...but i trained a little bit ranging and meleeing on fire giants when i had them as slayer assignment...they have low def and good health...you might want to try them. there is a safe spot behind the table in center room of waterfall dungeon. Also in the other room there is one if i'm not mistaken. Barrows drops: ahrims staff (2), karils coif, karils xbow, torags plate body, veracs helm.
February 20, 200719 yr You don't need to bring Curse runes, you can bring absolutely anything. True. Anything that gets the monster mad at you will work. ...cast Wind Strike. Same thing, but the runes are a LOT easier to come by. Not really. The runes used for Curse are cheaply and readily available from the magic stores. You only need 1 cast per monster to pull it over to you so you won't be using up your runes very fast at all. Plus, Curse always gives 29 magic exp vs an average of 7.5 for Wind Strike. Since your combat level depends on your dominant fighting stat, even a pureish Ranger can afford to have magic levels without penalty. Hope this helps
February 20, 200719 yr If your a member train: 45 - 50: Lessers 50 - 60: Now you can go to fire giants in the waterfall place ( need to do the waterfall quest to gain access) 60 - 70: Either stay at fire giants, or train at ogres in King Lathas's training ground ( need to do biohazard quest) hope that helps :o
February 20, 200719 yr Author Hmm. Now I have people selling me fire giants as well as lessers. I might want to eventually move onto fire giants because of their better drops (and big bones), but I might wait on it. I've done a good deal of quests, (And have access to all the aforementioned areas), but one problem is overcrowding. I use the Brimhaven dungeon for slayering fire giants, but I might train my ranging on them in the Waterfall dungeon since I'm going to want a safespot. Any other opinions on when to start ranging fire giants, if ever? How long should I stick with lessers on Crandor/Karamja?
