No,its 100% of the time, I think you should do it with steel or higher, so you don't lose money.

True, but that's just a strange kind of "magic". With superheating, I think the idea is the magic spell creates the heat like a furnace, so you can smelt the ores.

no, you cant cast superheat item on noted items

To answer the question: No, it's not good mage xp, relatively. Use the nature runes for high alchemy on items that have some value, and you will be much better off.
