Tomorrow is the last match of the group stages which will decide whether India finally go out or not. Then from 27th Super 8's will commence. I guess the tournament actually starts from there. How disapointing were the indians and pakistanis, you'd think with 1 bill cricket crazy fans india would be the best team around. They bag Australia for being cocky... BUT AT LEAST OUR TEAM WINS. Really thought Pakistan were a contender too. Im gunna go with for an upset and say South Africa for my tip. Bowling attack of an ageing McGrath, unpredictable Tait and Bracken doesnt do it for me. I would rather they kept Hodge in the team :) Watson is a very good player, although he is more of a batting allrounder than someone like Flintoff who is a genuine all arounder. Batting Watson so low is a waste, when he opens he does really well but i dont see the selectors dropping Gichrist or Hayden for him. When he bats at the mid-lower order he seems lost as it doesnt suit his technique. Personally im not a big fan of Hodge, think his too old and scores his runs to slowly for my liking. The only thing that's holding Hogg back from being a very dangerous player to any team is his inconsitancy with his spin. It's not that bad; but sometimes it's pretty shocking :| I'm all for having a dedicated spin bowler though. We definately need a fixed spinner in the squad rather that shuffling through the 3 or so which is available :-? Hogg and MacGill could be a nice team. You mean the other way around? #-o In ODI MacGill is a worst version of Warne, he tends to throw the ball up more and doesnt have Warne's defensive capacities. Plus, Magill is a bad fieldman and an pretty ordinary number #11. All of these factors would make his a bad choice for ODI although for test most of these can be covered. Lets no forget both of them are 35+ in age, disapointed that White wasnt chosen for pitch hitting abilites. Although his bowling is very laughable at times..... Wondering what to do with life ..... They come through qualifiers to get into the World Cup as well. If you want Cricket to be played with more nations then I think the involvement of minnows might be necessary. Ireland & Bangladesh even managed to upset Pakistan & India. I would agree that the tournament takes off slowly, but it could be good warm up matches for the big nations. do i know u scars?
