"Beef" has been around since the '80s, but never really gained too much momentum until the whole West Coast/Tupac vs. East Coast/Biggie, which ended up being a factor in the deaths of 'Pac and Big. It was a great example of how beef is not a good thing.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Then, there was the beef between Nas and Jay-Z. This was the opposite of Big and 'Pac's beef. It was really interesting and ended up causing a lot of good songs (Ether, Takeover, etc.). I think this may have started a (bad) trend.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Now I constantly hear about beef left and right (With like 90% involving freaking big mouth 50 Cent and G-unit), and most of it isn't real and is either just for attention or to boost the anticipation/sales of their albums. I mean afterall, we all know that 50 Cent would've faded away if he wasn't constantly barking at other artists. So anyway, what do you think beef is doing to the rap industry? Is it healthy, bad, or just plain silly? I think it's something that has really lost it's momentum, and has become nothing more than a shallow excuse for hype.

Theres so much of it, its basically meaningless anymore. Most rappers use random attacks on other as most of their subject matter..

Yea, 50 is known for that. I hate 50 just because what he was saying about Ghostface Killah for no apparent reason. Although he doesn't know what he is messing with when he talks about the Wu.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

But I don't think there will ever be a beef like Pac-Biggie/East-West. They already saw what happened when things got out of hand, and they will know they don't want to end up like that.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

And Chocobo, I know you like the Wu, you should hear the song that the American Cream Team made called "Who The Hell Is 50 Cent". If you havn't heard it before you should try to hear it. It sounds like the Wu Tang Clan. The group is a group affiliated with the Wu Tang.

When you consider the industry is nothing but a business now, Beef is doing wonders for it.

These "beefs" are created by rappers to sell their songs I mean a perfect example is when 50 told his co-partner the Game he was going to record a song with Nas shortly thereafter 'unknown' gunmen opened fire on 50 and his posse...all that happened was a lot of gunfire on both sides and several security people being minorly injured but both artists saw a very dramatic increase in record sales...something like 65 percent increase. Rappers create beefs because everyone wants to hear a flame war or to make the posers seem more 'gangsta'. These 'beefs' may not do great things for the entertainment quality but they sell the most music which is what most rappers and record companies care about rather than the listeners enjoyment.

Rappers have always been all about the money, as so long as beef keeps the records selling, even tho its awful, they will continue to do it.

How can they not "beef" to be fair, look at the size of every one of their egos. It's inevitable, keeps their business in the spotlight but is utterly pointless. I never pay any attention to it these days, I really couldn't care less. I'm not too fond of today's rap anyways, this I guess is a factor of why. Sad publicity stunts aiming to make either party look tough or hard.

im a musican aka rap artist myself age 26 =( haha old lol? no im still young. beef is what people wanna hear its like a game or a soap oprah humans love drama. anyways towards the game, i love his music but as far as being real naw he a fake cat. the man called up yukmouth another rapper who i like very much. and wanted to squash the beef they been having. anyways the game, went told yukmouth, go to so and so studio, and do your verse first. later that day the game was gonna put down his verse. instead of squashing the beef he went in the studio after yukmouth had done his part and just talked alot of bs about yukmouth. the song is out. and this is why beef stands in the game it makes money
