A very good high-scores idea??

I was browsing the highscores list, just wondering how badly the f2pers get gyped out of the 'overal' section of high-scores, when the thought occured to me.

Why not have a high-score section for the average of each stat?

Formula would be simple:

for p2p's:

Total skill divided by 20

for f2p's

Total skill divided by 15

Or just have a f2p high score list and a p2p high scores list as a seperate option :)

maybe there should be a seperate f2p highscore and p2p highscore. btw shouldn't this be on the Runescape Dicussion and Suggestion board???

p2pers would complain that they pay for it therefore they deserve to have their fame and not be outshadowed.

well if there is a seperate highscore, they would not be outshadowed but merely competin with other p2pers.

I don't think you understand, some one might be number one in overall but everyone will say oh so and so is number 1 f2p is better and there would be arguments, basically p2p pay, so they deserve highscore benefits.

It would be a bad move on jagex's part anyway, most hardcore players go p2p, meaning the most competition would be in p2p. If f2pers see that they can probably get to the top 20 easier on f2p, they won't become members = less money for jagex.

basically, this idea has been suggested many times before and will never happen.

I agree with seperate highscores for f2p, and p2p. But what happens to all the people who were p2p, that became f2p. would they be counted on p2p highscores?

Excellent idea. Split them into two. Sure, you get problems. The solution to the problems, is rather simple - have an overall high score list, with an option to show only members, or only free to play. That way, the easiest way to check who is number one is still to display all, the way it is now, but the option is there for the other folks.

It gets problematic when you get folks who HAVE been P2P, but went back to F2P. They would have gotten faster EXP on P2P, but at the time of the highscores being updated, they are F2P.

Of course, one could make it "F2P, and anyone who has ever been a member", but then you end up with people who are F2P, who tried members once and didn't like it getting branded unfairly.

But the idea severs no real purpose other than to enforce the power of the top person.... And lets noobs know who to bug

What about people that like don't train all skills, like a ranger he would then complain about the fact the calculation would include his attack and strenght.

So what about only count the skills that are level 2 (11 for hitpoints) or higher?

Then you won't be able to say its just for f2p players, because some p2p players would also gain from it.

Some problems I can think of are:

A player who would have all skills either 99 or 1, would not likely train lvl 1 one because he would lose his position. So how about also the lowest skill between 2 and 98 is excluded, they could then train 1 skill at a time to 99.

Also someone with like 99 woodcutting and the rest 1 would be very high in the list. people might complain about that so maybe there also should be a 5 skill minimal for it.

Sorting: It should be first sorted on averige, then on amount of skills (so someone with all skills 99 would be higher then someone with 5 lvl 99 skills and the rest lvl 1. Third it could be sorted on experience total from the counted skills.

One more problem I can see with this is the fact it would be hard to write the script for it.

if there would be All Players AND Free To Play and member so u could choose to look at all players or just Free To Playes or members? :)

I do not see how that would determine the average? And how could you do that for each stat? You take the total skill, divide it for 20, to find your average fishing level? I seem to be missing something.

To find your average overall, youd take your skill total, and devide it by the number of skills which you are capable of training.

P2p - ST/21=Average Level

F2p - (ST-6)/21=Average Level

(The -6 is due to f2p being given the level 1 in each members skill, which they cannot train)

Now, a seperate section for f2p overall would be nice, yes. (Once someone becomes p2p, they are permenently added to the p2p overall table)

there should be a total, and a free skillz only.

Total is like it is now, and free skillz only where it shows free and and members people but only their free skill totals. Thus it would stop people who have been members and quit missing out or totally overpowering.

if i look at the top 200 list of danesi in the general forum i should be with the 300 best f2p players... i think ...

tough a real f2p highscorelist of jagex would be awsome to compare my stats with other f2p players that has the same amount of xp/hour

Why would jagex do this? They want people to pay for membership. This is a nice plan from jagex to not force you to pay tp play. This way they get you addicted to runescape first and when you really are addicted you will pay for p2p = more money to jagex.

Oooh... I didnt think of that when replying. After realizing that, I really dont think Jagex should create a f2p highscores table.
