What do you think is true happiness?
Humanity finds flaws in everything, we can never obtain true happiness. Disagree. We can never be truly happy for any extended length of time, but it's very possible in the short term.

Anxiety/Panic Attacks
Oh god, panic attacks were the bane of my life for a few months. An ex-girlfriend used to get them all the time and I had no idea what to do. I just used to run and get her best friend haha. Anyway, I think you need to identify the root of it. I suppose it's possible that they're completely random, but I would put money on there being some kind of trigger. Maybe being such a laid back guy means you're not facing some problem you have enough and subconciously it's driving you crazy.

The Ramen Noodle Topic
The British equivalant is Super Noodles. We might get Ramen here, but I see (and eat) Super Noodles much more often.

The Ramen Noodle Topic
It's no more arbitrary than most other topics. I'll leave it open for the time being and see how things go.

A question (blind and deaf people)
woah. do you remember the name of the program? A quick Youtube search yielded this. The commentary is way over the top, but it's an interesting watch nonetheless.

A question (blind and deaf people)
I watched a programme about a blind artist recently. He could recreate landscapes quite accurately despite the fact that he was born without eyes. The stunning thing about it was that his artwork (which was mostly unimpressive aside from the fact that it was done by a blind man) obeyed all laws of perspective. Lines converged into the distance and objects in the background were smaller than those in the foreground.

Witty conversation.

Your three wishes
I'm going to crap all over the bolded one. You asked for enternal life, you'll see those you love die, and eventually, time will just go by you, afraid to make any friends, just to see them die what you assume is pretty soon, afraid to fall in love, because she will die like all the others, you'll just live as a hermit. Hooray for pure speculative hearsay! My grandpa is 83 and he's already used to his friends dying all the time. I think you would become pretty numb to it over an eternity, but that doesn't sound like much of a life either.

Your three wishes
1. Good health. 2. No hangovers. Other than that I'm just fine. With too much money I'd die and with world peace things would be boring. Conflict and poverty for me thanks.

2011/12 Football Season
Indeed, a cracker it was. It was a fantastic strike. Glen Johnson is looking like a great signing for us.

Ten Thousand Hours
Any mention of sex seems like bragging if it's on a forum. You just have to take the doubts as given and move on with the discussion.

Your views on file sharing and piracy
Actually, it's the record companies that are losing out the most with piracy. Bands traditionally make more of their income through concerts and merchandise. Record companies are trying to dig in and demand a cut of these profits now. In my opinion, the major record companies made their own bed with the fans when they went after Napster while simultaneously threatening every music fan in the world. They had absolute control over the music industry for over 30 years. They decided went over the airwaves, and they decided who would top the charts. The artists needed the major labels for mass distribution and promotion, but the rise of the internet made that obsolete. The artists, if they are smart enough to see, don't need the major labels anymore. It's the record companies that need the artists. If you shut down one website, then 10 more are going to pop up. I don't know why you thought you were being contrary, since you just supported my point entirely.

Ten Thousand Hours
Some of us are just naturally talented. Most girls (in my humble experience) are terrible in bed, it's just that men don't complain because bad sex is still sex. Terrible is perhaps a little harsh, but move around a little please girls.

Your views on file sharing and piracy
If anyone is robbing the bands, it's the record companies. Overhaul the whole system. If piracy will bring it crashing down then I'm with the pirates.

Entering REM Sleep
All I can think of is . Did he begin to play scotland the brave at the start? Yeah. He plays a few different well known melodies at the start in the few different versions I've heard.

2011/12 Football Season
Liverpool played poorly for most of the game, but ultimately it was the referee who decided things. The challenge on Voronin should have given us a penalty.

National Healthcare. What do you think of it?
Each system has its merits. I once heard a Canadian remark that he'd rather be in Canada if he sprained his ankle, but like to be in America if he needed an MRI. I think some states (or tri-state areas) have more MRI machines than the whole of Canada.

Hot celebrities/models!! :) Post them here!!
Gotta agree with Indy. I like the dames from black and white films. [hide=Audrey Hepburn][/hide] God she's gorgeous. That said, I am partial to a little Natalie Portman too.

What do you think about when you're deep in thought?
I analyse action quite a lot. My own and other people. I think about why a person might have done something, even if it's trivial, and I end up convincing myself that it's some kind of power play. I forget about it pretty quickly. I try to think of story ideas as often as possible. Failing that I try to think of pretty sentences. Because I've been reading Baudrillard, my mind has been principally occupied with post-modernity. I can definitely feel that we're in a state somewhere between modernity and post-modernity and I don't much like where things are headed.

Your favorite drink.
Black coffee (2 sugars), Robinson's apple and blackcurrant, Tennent's lager, Johnny Walker Black. Edit: Changed my mind about the lager. I do like Tennent's very much, but I'm going to go for Stella Artois and Heineken as the preference.

Hello From Earth
I was speaking with someone just yesterday about the huge responsibility the Pioneer Plaque has. It's quite well thought out, and I don't know that we could send a better message than that.

Abortion what do you think of it?
Well, if a corpse is a person and so is someone who is completely brain dead, then being a person is not what matters. The existence of a 'self' is the issue that matters.
-
Abortion what do you think of it?
Obviously we're treading in murky waters once again, and I can't define it exactly, but can try to illustrate my point with an example. Terri Schiavo was a human, but she was not a person. 'Self' is a much better word to use.
