Should abortion be illegal? And randox, I applaud you. Some good reasoning you have there.

    >implying other generations had so much more self control The US population growth rate is actually decreasing, believe it or not (source: census.gov). And look at this: (source: cdc.gov via wikipedia) The blue is the baby boomers. If anything, we have more self control than they. Technically, that would not be murder (assuming it is allowed by law). Is it wrong (IMO)? Yes. Is it ridiculous and backwards (IMO)? Yes. I am simply saying that in the US, at current time, abortion is not murder because it does not fit the definition of murder. Murder is also defined as the killing of a human being specifically, and since nobody can rightfully make a blanket statement whether fetuses are human beings or not, nobody can rightfully make a blanket statement that abortion is murder. Deities don't count for anything here. We don't know that any deity exists and so any "rights" or "dominion" or whatever you want to call it "given" by one is not an acceptable reason for anything (not to mention that because one of the basic human rights agreed upon by all but 3 nations is freedom of religion, so the laws/rules given by one deity may not govern universal law). And why are we allowed to kill people under so many circumstances? I am not making any assumptions as to whether a fetus can be considered living. I am asking why anyone has the right to define it.

Yes, exactly. This is why we also "need" abortion. Maybe they were drunk, or stupid, or tried to pull out, or the condom broke, or any combination of those. Abortions have saved countless numbers of children from having to endure terrible quality lives. There are people who, if abortion was illegal, simply have their baby in secret and kill it. What if having a baby endangers the safety of the mother? What if the baby is going to be born deformed and will have extremely poor quality of life? What if the mother is a prostitute addicted to cocaine and the father is a random guy who hired said prostitute? What if the mother/father have little money, no way to have the child cared for, and no jobs? In addition, "Murder is the unlawful killing of another human being with "malice aforethought", and generally this state of mind distinguishes murder from other forms of unlawful homicide (such as manslaughter). " This is from wikipedia, but all the online dictionaries I checked say this in different words. Murder must be unlawful to be murder, and therefore abortion is not murder in the United States. A question - who gets to define when something is living? Nox, how can you say it's only alive when it breathes? Duff, how can you say it IS alive at whenever you do? Is the definition of human life different than that of simple "life"? And why can we kill things like chickens, cows, bacteria, germs, and goats (and even people under many, many circumstances) when they are fully developed and aware of what is happening, but not a fetus which (under proper procedure) does not feel pain, does not know what is happening, cannot think, and cannot see beyond lights/motion?
  4. For the sake of argument, you DO realize that the "law" in question is an edict, right? A RELIGIOUS rule? There is no Saudi Law that prohibits women from driving -- it's a religious edict. So who meted out the punishment?

Disrespect is not stopped by the law.
  6. Why What the hell? He makes more money than his mom, and his mom feels it right to take it from him. I've seen it happen pretty often. Why doesn't he lay down the law? ... you see what you've done here right ? You sound like a total [bleep]flap but this is the internet and I'm not in a position to judge anyone. (for all I know it's [cabbage].) Nope. I think that any kid should have their own money protected from being stolen by parents, and that they should not/should not have to have it in school. If they want to take the chance of bringing in to school (especially if it's high school or college where people steal stuff all the time) then they take the risk of having it gone. It's not that hard to find a nice secure hiding spot, whether that be in your room, house, garage, or outside and put your money there. And thanks for insulting me. Quite necessary.

  8. What the hell?
  9. A wild ditto appears!
  10. Facebook statuses like these..... Not the content, the way it is typed. Not to say the content can't be bad. That kind of thing usually comes from teenagers who want to seem smarter than they actually are. It's the kind of thing this forum is built on, but at least we're literate :twss: Lol'd
  11. A sequence of alphabetic characters which mean something when grouped together in that specific way. That was just me reasoning it. Dunno if it's good.
  12. Yeah, since one kid botted some of his skills to not even 99, all bots get away with it. Good logic.

What is the matter with you silly terrier
  14. I think he means girl FEEL pressured to wear make up. Not that they ARE pressured. Then what's with the feminist type movement against that kind of thing in media?
  15. Nomrombom replied to Assume Nothing's topic in Off-Topic
lolbumpedfornoreason I kid. When deciding whether to have an abortion, the male has absolutely no say in the matter at all legally. He cannot make the female get an abortion. However, the male has just as much responsibility towards the child as she does. I just find that a little ridiculous. My first inclination is to let males legally distance themselves, but that could leave women in an even worse position.
  16. Keep in mind: You do not need a girlfriend.
  17. He would have lost it anyway had I not seen it, and it's your responsibility to not drop/leave your stuff where people will take it. The only reason I can imagine he would need 100$+ at school is for drugs anyway.
  18. Nomrombom replied to Leoo's topic in Off-Topic
Not to steal attention from Eggs, but what do you guys think about abortion and how it is completely up to the woman? The man (who has the exact same responsibility to the child as she does, no more, no less) has absolutely no say in whether they have a kid. It will be a major source of stress and problems, especially at 18. It just doesn't seem very fair to me.
  19. Who pressures them to wear makeup? I've never heard anyone say anything other than that someone has too much. Maybe that's just because they all wear it all the time...
  20. It does not mean they did feel disturbed at all either.
  21. Nomrombom replied to Leoo's topic in Off-Topic
    Definitely your biggest concern
  22. Morals are not universal. If someone is brought up with no exposure to anything except the view that women are subhuman life forms, they will come to accept this as a truth. Some, if not all Hutu believed they were morally justified in massacring the Tutsi. Who are you (collective you) to say what is an absolute moral? Who am I to say what is not?
  23. I think it is that any law based on religion is inherently an opinion of a deity that may or may not exist and that everyone governed by the laws is, through being made to follow those laws, being forced to accept a certain religion's views as correct or right. One of the basic human rights is freedom of religion (Article 18, Universal Declaration of Human Rights, approved by the UN, enacted and agreed upon by all countries except Kosovo, Taiwan, and the Vatican), and it seems to me (I am not certain) that this violates that right.
  24. I assume it returned via UPS? They didn't get the required signature and left it on his doorstep; sadly, he lives in a seedy neighborhood and it was stolen. Moral of the story: [bleep] UPS. You can see if your package will require a signature online, and if it does, it will not be left on the doorstep. You can also ask UPS to hold the package at one of their stores until you pick it up (in a reasonable amount of time).
