Banned because I was trying to please both crowds by putting both words there. It wasn't a matter of having issues choosing, but a matter of not offending somebody out there. <.< ~D. V. "Trying to cover the bases..." Devnull -
The "You're Fired" Game (Over 1K fired)
D. V. Devnull replied to Blaze The Movie Fan's topic in Forum Games
You're Fired from the Mathematics Club for a severe miscalculation... :ugeek: First off, if there's a minimum of 3 posts a day for the remainder of the year, times what is at least 90 days left in this year, then you have 270 posts yet to come right now. Those 270 posts, plus the 772 posts currently present, equals a combined total of 1042 posts. This is greater than the 1001 total posts (original post plus 1000 replies) needed to break the line that you don't think will be reached. So there is a definite likelihood of that 1000 replies being reached by the end of the year, contrary to what you are thinking, unless there's a massive dry spell for more than 13 days in total. And we both know that hasn't happened yet, thanks in part to my getting involved, even if only rather temporarily. Heck, don't make me get a big head over it! :ugeek: ~Mr. D. V. I wonder how people will get their costumes and random event emotes, then? ~D. V. "It would really suck if those went away..." Devnull

Granted, but unfortunately their crash through the roof results in your house falling apart due to their going right through a structural core piece. Serious sadness ensues, what with money loss, and legal grief. :boohoo: I wish I could have thought of a happier-sounding corruption, because it seems like I keep coming up with awful things. #-o ~D. V. "Oh, for only to want the sadness to not keep going..." Devnull

Not advertising, just trying to discuss something, and this happens?
D. V. Devnull replied to D. V. Devnull's topic in Rants
Regarding that appeal, everyone... I have the feeling I'm going to have to hope for a second chance. When I typed it, I was running a bit on hasty instinct because I typed it (while freaked out, partly from the message and partly from my family bothering me at a bad moment) just shortly after finding out, and here's what came of that... [spoiler=Copy of the Offense Appeal that I typed... I have the feeling it isn't that great... Click to view anyway...]To my knowledge, those of you at Jagex lifted the block on speaking about YouTube and users on it other than yourselves. Further, there are duplicate chat lines displayed that were never actually typed or sent, and are likely the result of awful lag that I'm unable to avoid due to the browser/java versions I've been forced into upgrading to on this old computer. Please re-review this mistaken offence data, remove the offence from my account, and un-mute me? If I have to, I'll be a bit less likely to pop sudden offside chat topics in the future, but I would hope the RuneScape Rules aren't slipping back into a draconian form? If they are, let me know in my message center. ...and I'm kind of wishing right now that I had an "Edit" button for it. :wall: ~D. V. "Not feeling great about it..." Devnull (p.s.: Since I'm unable to do so myself, can anyone find out who my accuser is? I really hate getting misinterpreted without much any way to defend myself.) -

Obvious, but it shouldn't have happened in the first place, and that's what I'm getting at! Right now, I should have been online to RuneScape, watching for someone I had met in-game for team dungeoneering. I can't even tell them what's happened. This is causing what for me is an unbearable amount of damage, and there's literally nothing I can do about it at the moment. ~D. V. Hi all... back on Sept. 24, 2012, 2 PM or a little earlier in the afternoon, I find myself having trouble both with launching RuneScape, as well as staying awake. I barely get in-game after 2 crashes while trying to log-in at Karamja's Musa Point Fishing Spot, having finally had to switch to software mode on the third attempt, and here's Jagex's excerpt from the chat log (including duplicate lines caused by lag) from me, my friends chat, and so forth... [spoiler=Chat log copy from Jagex inside, with their headers... click to view...]Offence Information Offence: Website Advertising Major Type: Mute Offence Date: 24-Sep-2012 Offence Expiry: 24-Sep-2013 Game: RuneScape Offence Evidence Evidence Type: Abuse Report D V Devnull : [clan] Here goes me trying again... Anyone else here like the Youtube user known as 'Fpsrussia'? D V Devnull : [clan] So... Anyone else here like the Youtube user known as 'Fpsrussia'? Now, just for starters, I never typed the duplicate lines, and they're a very clear result of lag. Second, do you see any advertising? I don't! All I was trying to do at the time was to simply ask a mere question, and possibly spark a discussion. No discussion sparked and I let it go. As an unfortunate third however, apparently someone decided right then to be a "wanna-be mod", and fired a report at my expense! I've been muted for 3 days due to it, starting late afternoon yesterday when my family decided to make it impossible to remain logged in-game! I wouldn't be at all surprised that Jagex kicked me off to the lobby those couple hours after when I was likely W.B.M.'d to apply the mute! Fourth, people aren't supposed to be trying to be nasty to each other in the Friends Chat (strangely marked with 'clan' markers, which it shouldn't be) that I happened to be in at the time. So I've been victimized by some jerk, my ability to help others taken away by loss of my voice, and I'm one of those people known for having a major hate of bots/macros... BTW, I know some of you are wondering which Friends Chat it is. I can't name that chat's name due to their chat rules, sorry. Oh, and fifth, as far as I currently know, discussion of other YouTube users than Jagex themselves is supposed to be allowed, just as long as it doesn't go over into advertising, and advertising is exactly what I happened to be avoiding. :geek: So, I leave it to you, my fellow forum members... Feel free to discuss and/or join the rant with me. If the offense appeal I've sent in doesn't go through, and the offense entry and mute reversed, then I'm already 99.999999% likely to leave RuneScape/FunOrb forever, which will likely result in my leaving the Tip.It Community as well. I've been with RuneScape (and the addition of FunOrb at its' point) for 7 years and then some now, always managing to stay clear of any infraction what-so-ever, and past things like this have never caused me an offense/mute. So to find this happening to me signals that Jagex is either slipping in terms of Customer Support, or that they're getting rather draconian about things once more. After as many temporary quits as I've had years with Jagex's games, this last piece of junk will be the breaking straw. I'm at the point where, as far as I'm concerned, Jagex has broken the lock on this prison of desire I've felt, and I'll be forced to hard-sever my ties with what buddies I've had in regard to RuneScape/FunOrb without much notice to anyone. :( ~Mr. D. V. "Is this going to be my final end? We'll know soon....." Devnull

You're fired from Jet Propulsion Laboratories for crashing too many of the rockets that everyone has launched and making them explode. ~D. V. "My rocket! NO!!!" Devnull -
Sadly, I know this feeling. I've been in the middle of both RuneScape and other java-based games (e.g.: Steel Sentinels) and FireFox seems to love to let its' JavaScript Garbage Collector lock up this poor little single-core system that I'm typing this post from. It basically makes the Java Applet unusable while FireFox's JSGC is doing its' thing. (Result: I've actually lost rating on Steel Sentinels, and almost gotten killed a few times on RuneScape.) Strangely, by running Flash Applets in the in-process mode instead of over in the plugin container, those seem to be far less affected when JSGC decides to suddenly trigger. Unfortunately, there really isn't a good browser to move over to, just because of the overall mentality of all the browser makers and Java's developers. Worse now, there isn't a way to run Java how I need it, as an in-process item. :( And before you ask, I've already tried tons of tweaking to back off the JSGC on FireFox... Nothing works, and with my current settings, it shouldn't be doing it more often than 10 hours apart for a full sweep. Especially since I've told it not to auto-trigger at closer than 448 MB allocations since the last sweep, which I very much know isn't being reached. Neither is the 512 MB JavaScript Heap limit that I've set. :wall: ~D. V. "Knowing this headache all too well..." Devnull
