I don't mind them too much, if you pay attention and are properly prepared you wont get pked on the way to the abyss. The only thing that annoys me is losing my pouches, if there was a way to choose which items to keep, it would almost be too easy.

I didn't want a killy name either like maybe Stabby Jim, because that would be pants if you got pked. My bro made an account and had it for a while, then made a new one because the numbers drove him mad. It's a curse I tell ye!

If your worried about pkers my advice would be to take an ectophial with you. That way if anyone attacks you you can just one click out, if you do it fast enough it works before the teleblock effect takes place. Though it does mean that your one less rune at the end of the run. Sorry if that's a bit off topic. :)

I'm not sure about the staff thing but the reading thing could be a quest book, some of them look a bit like prayer books and when you read them your character will be..well..reading. You can't really see it though because there's a big book in the way.

To make the tablets you need to have a study and build a lectern (40 construction for the most basic one). Then you use one soft clay and the runes required for the spell to make the tablet. The first lectern only lets you make varrock tele and enchant sapphire though but you can always buy tablets off players if anyones selling them yet.
