  1. So true RuneScape HD won't be out until most of the major graphic bugs are fixed, and after E3. There might even be a chance if it doesn't appeal to people at E3, HD might be removed. Lol, are you kidding? Jagex has been working on this for the past year, I highly doubt they'll remove it if it doesn't get the E3 bump. Hell, there would be even more reason to keep it around.
  2. (I'm not sure if this topic already exists, but...) Yeah.
  3. I think the new edgeville sucks, jagex is getting a little too triggerhappy with the grey tones. anyway, buy X sounds nice.
  4. I'm pretty sure with the amount of dedicated users, there would be thousands of people willing to buy the jagex company, or just buy runescape, like sseli said. I would just hope that they are responsible people.
  5. well apparently i've been using the tip it world for f2p for the past year. Although, I have only started to become active in tip it this week.
  6. Ohh I saw you like yesterday or two days ago. I really liked your name. ---- In addition to Jackstick, I also have an account named i7 if we're going to have a short name catagory :) However, it does have a number in it's name..

  8. According to the tip.it update of December 9th, 2001, the maximum amount of players that could be playing RS was 5000. After this, there were no more server additions that year. Users could pick up more than one christmas cracker. However, it was christmas... I doubt all the servers were full at this time. Plus, the crackers were just dropped at random times, so there was no way knowing when or where they would be dropped. Since then, server additions have kept constant with the number of users joining. There were 4 servers back then, each able to hold 1,250 users. Total of 5000 users. Today, there are 144 servers, able to hold 288,000 players at any given time. There are usually around 225,000 users on average. 225/288 = 0.78125 5000 x 0.78125 = 3906 Considering that the drop happened on christmas day, I doubt there were that many active users... I'd say around 3250, plus RS certainly wasn't as well known as it is now. Now it depends on how many christmas crackers were picked up by every user. I would say that a lot of users probably got more than 3... But then again, the crackers were dropped in random areas of random times, and no one knew that it was going to happen. Some users might have been in dungeons, or doing quests, or just in certain areas where the items were not dropped. The users who did pick the crackers up probably got quite a few to see how many colors there really were... So, considering that some users didnt get any, and some got a lot, I think a distribution of 3 crackers per user is an even amount. 3250 x 3 = 9750 So, if you agree with me, then we can safely say that 9750 crackers have existed... And 9750 potential party hats have existed too. Since some users simply wanted to keep the cracker as it was, they did not crack it. I would say around 1000 crackers were not cracked. Honestly, go look on the RS forums and see how many users are selling crackers... So if you're still agreeing with me, then there have been, at some time in runescape's history, 8750 party hats. Back in the day, it wasn't hard to get a party hat... They were much less than 1milgp, and several people collected them. Some people hacked accounts for party hats, or scammed for party hats. These users, I would assume, would have a lot of party hats. Plus just users getting banned in general, possibly for profanities or otherwise, and owning a party hat. Users dying with party hats and no one around to pick them up... But then we have to factor in that party hats were duplicated. They were sold for incredibly low prices, and the duplicators would crack crackers with random users. So party hats were added back into the economy... According to an update by jagex, the amount of party hats in total was still less than the previous year. That year (nov 2002 - nov 2003) did not lose as much party hats as normal years because of the duplication. So instead of basing the amount of users dying and getting banned on a 5 1/2 year period, it should be based on something like 5 years. So because of that, I would say that there are around 6000 party hats. Which really isn't a lot... There are 9million free player accounts, and 1million members accounts. Quite a few of the free player accounts are probably not active anymore, and according to some "Top MMORPG" lists, there are about 5million active accounts. Thats 1 party hat for every 833 people... Seems about right to me. If it seems like there are less, it is probably due to the fact that some users own more than one party hat. If it took 5 years for 1750 party hats to disappear, then about 350 party hats are disappearing every year. People buy party hats on eBay, and jagex monitors high priced tradings, and they know if someone is getting a party hat for free... Plus, just because someone has a party hat, doesn't mean they don't get black marks often... Some might just get banned because of accumulated black marks. And of course... Some users (although very few) still die with no one around. If the decline keeps constant, and we agree that there are 6000 party hats left... It would take 17 years for the current amount of party hats to be gone. This is assuming that there will be no more duplications. Seems about right to me. One of the big reasons that we see less party hats nowadays is because there are a lot of users joining everyday... People who have party hats probably keep them in the bank. Some users who are only wearing one party hat may have more in the bank. tl;dr : 17 years til all phats are gone.
  9. well nightwolf, what's worse... Complaining about not getting updates, or complaining about the updates that you get?
  10. I don't know what you're talking about.... Anyway, here's my new outfit:
  11. Of course we deserve a skill cape... Now I didn't read all 13 pages of this debate, so if I repeat what other people have said, don't kill me. I've been playing RS since july 2001, and I have never been a member. People always complain about how many autoers are on f2p... Try being a real player and having to deal with those damn autoers slowing your skill down... It took me more than three years to get 99 wc on f2p. Now I'll admit, I took some small breaks here and there, but everytime I'm at edgeville cutting logs, there are autoers... Incidentally, edgeville is the only save haven for woodcutters in f2p.. Every other yew tree is infested with autoers. Getting a level 99 in f2p is a lot harder. We don't have as many resources, as many training options, and we have autoers to ruin our game. The thing I found especially hilarious was when Jagex announced the skill capes. This was about a week before the capes actually made it to the game, so f2pers were excited out of their wits that they would be getting something in return for their hard work to show how committed they are to whatever skill. I almost felt the slap in the face when I read "members can now buy skill capes etc" ... I think members hold themselves on too high of a pedestal. I notice that everytime we get an update, the rants forum is flooded with stubborn jerks complaining "I'M A PAYING CUSTOMER DAMMIT, F2PERS DO NOTHING FOR JAGEX!!!" It may not be easy for everyone to believe, but if it weren't for f2pers, there would be no runescape. Not only is every f2per a potential paying member, but we have ads on our runescape page. Those ads fund jagex whenever they are clicked, and with the amount of active free players, I have no doubt in my mind that they are clicked pretty often. Especially if you're playing one of those "shoot the monkey and win a free ipod" ads. The capes of accomplishment are a unique set of items. They are the only in game reward (unless you want to include the hoods) you get for your achievement, and when you're an f2per doing a lot more work than a member to get a 99 skill, it sucks not getting anything to show your hard work. @Select A Use: Ingrates?? You can't possibly be serious, or you could possibly be horridly stubborn and ignorant. We are always grateful for every update we get... The SOS, Party Pete's, and Clan Chat... And now the player kit option. You want to talk about ingrates? How about every other quest, I see people in the rant forums or recent update forums (on the official rs forums) saying "boring, it sucked!!! JAGEX IM PAYING MONEY DAMMIT!!!" Care to explain that? We are grateful for our updates because they don't come often. Members were out infront of the party hall protesting it's move, acting like they will never be able to use the party hall again. Now don't go assuming that I'm insulting every single member. There are several members who learn to respect f2p, because they aren't overwhelmed by their own ego. I see people like you all the time in edgeville, strutting around in an f2p world like you're a king. We don't have updates to make us spoiled, you on the other hand...
  12. The man with the red paperclip didnt get his little buddies around to help him by giving him more valuable items. He did it himself. Heck I could end your goal right now if I was nice enough to give you a free santa hat. Now if you actually managed to take the little steps in this process, then it would be real. The idea is to independantly reach your goal. If you have your friends help you, its really no different from getting friendly donations. Now you may disagree with this, but I believe that somewhere along the line of trying to turn a wooden shield into a santa hat, the average John Doe would get anxious and sell something else in order to make his goal faster. If you really want to be recognized as "that guy who turned a wooden shield into a santa hat" then you have to actually do it by trading random users.
  13. i've met and talked to: Zezima Revelwood Zonghui Sandytrain Ladykilljoy Somerville Most of those people were famous back in the old days.
  14. roswell's got the idea. I'm a little too attached to my outfit to change it :'(
  15. why is there still no white...? I hate beige!! IT'S SUCH A BORING COLOR
  16. my concern is how they will determine the other themed worlds... I think there should be a poll. lol @ elegant. Absolutely useless now. The top, at least. I've never seen a prince wear pants like that...
  17. nah, but I should've lol. I got 99 wc on July 27th, 2007.
  18. the ashes were given to me as a 99 wc gift :D a lot of awkward items in my bank actually hold sentimental value.
  19. looks like i'll have to explain... 1st santa : 41k (someone offered 40k, i offered 41k) 2nd santa : 125k (sold my rune stuffs) yellow phat : 2.2mil (with the help of my old clan friends) white phat : 6mil (from cutting yews, and buying them for 230 to sell for 250, or 270 and sell for 300 ... I don't really consider that "merchanting" though) red mask : 400k (yews) green mask : 300k (yews, and a friend gave me some cash) blue mask : An AFK user at edgeville yews, it cost about 400k at that time Pumpkin : 7.3mil (yews, and a friend gave me 1mil) edit: fabtank, f2p users can buy maple logs. However, there are no maple trees in f2p. Maples are not members items.
  20. I've only done real merchanting once... I gained 1mil, and lost 2mil, so no, not very often... I don't drop trade either... My main is Jackstick, and that is the bank of that account.
  21. well i don't come here too often, but i'll go ahead and show my stuff: I would probably have more cash... but recently, I spent more than 10mil on a drop party and costume contest for my 99 woodcut party (it was definitely worth it) I have a thing about crafting and runecrafting... I'm f2p, which explains all the other 1's... I've been playing since July 2001.
  22. hah, I wouldn't say I'm too famous here. What is this my 3rd post? People from runevillage probably know me, though.
  23. Thank you for the comments everyone :D Unfortunately I do not make signatures for free anymore. The last signature I made for free was the sunset signature, it was for selbbub. I will of course make signatures in the future, but only for show, and contests. And yes sig selling is against the rules, this topic is not a shop for selling signatures for runescape gp, or real life gp. A few people back at runevillage just told me that tip it was where a lot of amazing pixel artists hang out. I'm nowhere near your top artists, but I hope to one day be somewhat as good as them :D  Once again, thank you for the comments
  24. howdy, well unfortunately I don't have access to any fancy programs like jasc, or photoshop (only the crappy trial versions) so I have to deal with pixels. here are some of my pixel works: my favorite one: I just got done with this one. It's based off a style I used previously, mainly the stars and the moon, but i don't want to show that other style. The stars are pretty simple, if you just zoom in ull see. Also, the grass and the tree are pretty much just the same few images overlapping eachother. Just make a few leaves/grass and go from there. I really like how the cape turned out. This is the first time I went in depth with the look of the character, and is by far my best work. Lion kingish?: I based most of the landscape on the lion king landscape. I like how the dragon turned out, except for his hideous tail. Same stars n moon style. Siggy for Selbbub: the sky was murder... probably my best sky ever. The clouds just amaze me, I really didn't think it would turn out this well. If some of you think I might have "ripped" the clouds from a real picture, or something else, then just go ahead and zoom in to see the simplicity of the clouds. I really only made two clouds, and resized them, rotated them, made them smaller, etc. The sun itself probably took me 5 hours in total. I hope you like it, Selbbub. my signature on runevillage and tip it: This one is pretty basic. It was the first pixel work I made. That's basically me in the Edgeville woodcut area (before they changed the look of yews...) I didn't have much skill, so I just made that crappy little figure as the character... this is one I made for some other fella, it took probably an hour, and is very basic, hardly has any detail... Basically he is smithing addy 2h's in varrock smithy near the west bank. This my first pixel avatar. Unfortunately the person got banned from RV before I could send it to them. I hate how the head turned out, mainly the face. blah, just some smiley I added to. Same outfit as the woodcutting pixel sig. Took like 23 seconds. My avatar was made by a fella named Troggy on runevillage. I've editted it for certain holidays: st patricks Easter That's pretty much it... I don't usually make pixel signatures to sell them, most of them are just for myself or for contests... I hope you enjoyed ^_^
