TIF is bit over-moderated
As has already been said, TIF received a contradictory statement from Jagex saying the opposite. It's still innocent until proven guilty, it's just both sides have received messages from Jagex which appear to be diametric opposites. Hence the need for clarification. And neither TIF or TEF are 'institutions'. Please get some perspective on this. Both are loosely affiliated not-for-profit communities run by volunteers and used by people with fandom for RuneScape.

Israel vs Palestine
My intention, Y Guy, was simply to point out that international consensus--the same consensus which lead to the state of Israel to exist in the first place--is that Palestine *is* a state. Homes which were purposefully placed there in settlements, yes?
-
Israel vs Palestine
Obama only last week proposed boudaries that imply the state of Palestine is very much real. Baring in mind how influential US support has been to Israel over the years, are you suggesting the leader of the Free World is wrong in his opinion?

Israel vs Palestine
"There was never a country called "Palestine" it never existed never will" Yes I realise there are Palestinians who would say Israel shouldn't exist, but Israel aren't constantly being branded terrorists, so what's their excuse?

Israel vs Palestine
It's the compromising attitude of the Israeli state as exemplified by the post above which has lead to such amicable relations between the two states.

The Controversial Thread
I think there's a real danger our society is developing too quickly in the pursuit of corporate profit. The elderly for example are being increasingly left behind when it comes to modern methods of communication. There's also a danger with the Internet not only becoming lawless, but unfettered. Take the whole thing with the Premier League footballer; is there any public benefit to his identity being revealed over Twitter? There are many useful applications to the Internet, Tip.it being just one of course, but I couldn't care less about more policing of that sort of thing.

Just a question
If it doesn't affect other people, they have no right to know. I'd say such a person might consider telling people close to them so it 'cushions' the impact though. Even if they're not homophobic it might come as a slight shock that would need getting used to.

2011/12 Football Season
I picked Wolves and Blackpool to go down a few weeks ago, with West Ham of course, so not too far out. I'd have liked it if Wigan had gone down but I never expected them to tbh. Full of drama though, best final day in years, 5Live right to compare it to a game of musical chairs. The scenes at Molineux were mental I'm told so be sure to watch MoTD tonight.

The F1 Thread 2012 Season
I don't even see the point of watching the races any more. We all know what colour the winning car will be and there's an 80% chance of guessing Vettel as the race winner. Sport is as much about providing drama and entertainment as it about athleticism and skill, and at the moment F1 just fails to deliver on the former. The advice to anyone who doesn't know a lot about F1 is: watch the first five minutes of Q3 on a Saturday, and then go do whatever it is you do on a weekend. You can more or less tell who'll win from those five minutes without needing to watch a two-hour race.

Pokemon Thread
Quick question: The guy in Battle Frontier that checks perfect IVs on Platinum and on the Battle Subway in B/W; does he exist anywhere in Diamond?

Do you prefer the fun posts, or the serious posts?
Both in equal measure, to be honest.

Waterboarding - Torture?
Kind of makes you wonder what kind of psychopath invents these methods, actually.
-
Waterboarding - Torture?
Were the countless governments who have officially declared waterboarding illegal as a form of torture also 'not thinking things through'?
-
Waterboarding - Torture?
So you're not denying waterboarding is torture ('enhanced techniques' or whatever you want to call it), you're just saying it was OK to use it in this circumstance. The end may justify the means but it doesn't change what the latter is. Let's call a spade a spade.

The Controversial Thread
All statements I've seen supporting waterboarding have not been in denial that it is torture, though I'm sure a few individuals have convinced themselves otherwise. What I have seen are 'means to an end' arguments where waterboarding isn't justified per se, but torture is in the light of a national catastrophe. You know the ones I'm talking about, "Bomb goes off in 5mins and you've got the guy who knows the code" sort of things. The real question is nort whether waterboarding is torture, but whether torture itself is ever justified.

San Francisco set to vote on becoming Anti-Semitic
Deleting my posts after you started the abortion talk? Well that's rich...

San Francisco set to vote on becoming Anti-Semitic
Well, the whole point of what I'm saying is how an unborn fetus has its human rights treated. In this country, it's deemed to be when the fetus is capable of independent living, unless there is good reason to believe it would be severely disabled as a result of pregnancy in which case an abortion may be considered as a protection of its human right to live free from pain. There is also a weighing of human rights in abortion about the mother's right to autonomy over medical procedures vs an unborn fetus' human rights. It is regrettable that abortions are being made so late into the third trimester but they don't represent the bigger picture by any means.

San Francisco set to vote on becoming Anti-Semitic
The cut off point in this country (UK) is when the unborn baby is deemed capable of indepedent survival (after the 24th week) so that argument holds no weight. Any abortion held after 24 weeks is done so because the child is likely to suffer from disability and even after 13 weeks doctors are more reticent to agree due to potential complications. To imply doctors find an abortion at 8 months 'cooooooollll' is just intellectually scandelous and wholly inappropriate, I'm sorry.

San Francisco set to vote on becoming Anti-Semitic
I don't see how figurative language such as 'ripped out with a vacuum' is at all appropriate for a moderator to be posting in view of a debate on circumcision, regardless of your personal view on abortion and especially when they can't be performed past six months into a pregnancy anyway.

Earstuds/rings have their own health risks. It's not exactly healthy to go sticking needles into parts of the body needlessly for aesthetic purposes, you know.
