  1. If they considered the idea of keeping PvP worlds and letting the Wildy loose on those worlds, and just kept it simple for once, they'd satisfy everyone. In a way, the nature of poll sums up the typically nonchalant, blasé attitude Jagex takes to the execution of their updates. Being part of the 8% that opposes this currently, the dilemma I find myself in is that, actually, I agree Free Trade should be brought back in so long as botting can be controlled, and if Jagex say this can be done, and I have no evidence to the contrary, then I've got no good reason to keep Free Trade out. Why restrict people when there's no rational basis for doing so? The problem I have though, is that I'm vehemently opposed to bringing back PKing. Contrary to what some people on this thread may want to imply about anyone who opposes how the Wilderness once was, I played the game for two years before PKing was abolished, I actually did see what the Wilderness was like, and I cannot allow myself to stand by and allow immature, trollish e-gangsters to soil the general community and ruin the gaming experience yet again, no matter how promising Free Trade would be. On the other hand, if those people were kept on worlds away from those of us who want nothing to do with them, I really don't care what they can get up to. It's their life; but knowing Jagex, it's either all in or nothing at all - much like the way in which PKing and Free Trade was removed in the first place. Main issue is: I can't vote for Free Trade unless I also vote for PKing. Why can't I just vote for Free Trade?
  2. Pretty much every game on the MLG circuit has its own set of rules and guidelines discussed and set by the 'elites' in that game's community and then applied during the tournaments themselves. If you want to take this to extremes then we could pretty much destroy online competitive Pokemon gaming right now with opposing Shadow Tag Uber Wobbuffets, all in the name of "anti-player morality". I mean, if that's the way I want to play it, who's got the right to stop me? All gaming communities have standards. Gaming =/= Anarchy.
  3. On the PKing front, the opposition wouldn't have a leg to stand on if PKing really was kept in seperate worlds, or if players could categorise themselves into the 'No PK' safe zone. Then we really would have no right to complain because it literally would have nothing to do with us.
  4. Y so f2p? I've not logged in in a few days so I don't remember why/never knew in the first place?
  5. If I recall correctly, they think pures abuse the combat level system to lead opponents under a false impression they're fighting someone much weaker than they actually are; in other words, combat level doesn't really reflect the odds of winning. But then, Revenants are far more powerful than normal monsters of their own level too so it's Pot calling the Kettle Black really. Plus the hardly kept secret that pures bot.
  6. Are such manners a mandatory feature in those supporting PKers? Then you wonder why we don't want it back? I don't think you really understand common courtesy. I genuinely HATE castle wars and quests, but if a poll came up about removing them i'd be indifferent as i understand that there are people who love that sort of content. If you didn't pk before the change, you shouldn't cry about wildy being dangerous. Don't be selfish about this, the game is not about you, it's about us. I understand that if I'm supposed to be presenting a mature opinion I don't end it with 'shut your crack'. Wouldn't advise you say it to your boss when you disagree with whatever he's proving himself imcompetent in. Ever. You guys seem to be under the impression that we want the game spoon-fed to us. I'd like the Wilderness to be dangerous as it's meant to be. To be honest, I'd remove the gravestones from the Wilderness whether PKing comes back or not - at the moment it's just a torched extention to Varrock that's easily accessible within 6 minutes. I'd also reform the Revenants so they truly are dangerous (giving them the ability to run would be an obvious start). My main concern about PKing is the effect it would have on the RuneScape community. Yes, a lot of people left RuneScape when they removed PKing, and quite frankly, good riddance to bad rubbish. No one likes being trolled by some douche who thinks he's better than you because he killed you while you were defenceless, and now you've got to earn all your RC pouches back. Like me going onto the street now, beating up some old pensioner and laughing about stealing their purse - it doesn't prove anything and you're a pretty big jerk for doing it For different reasons, I feel the same about free trade. Yes, there are those who used free trade for constructive reasons (fletching guild for example) but there were also many more who abused it, and in doing so, created a two-tier system in RuneScape where those who can afford to in real life don't have to go through the same arduous money-making tasks the rest of us have to go through. In a competitive game (in which nearly every action we do posts some contribution to the hiscores and hence our rank) that cannot be tolerated by the game's developers of all people. In short, reintroducing PKing and free trade has its benefits, but I thought I'd seen the back of those who want to ruin the game in 2007. Or at least I'd hoped the developers would want that to be the case, but after this U-turn and the way they've tried publicising it as a serious vote, my faith in Jagex is completely shot through.
  7. Again, you guys need to stop putting words into mouths. I've never once spoken about punishing anyone.
  8. Are such manners a mandatory feature in those supporting PKers? Then you wonder why we don't want it back?
  9. Really? Where is the evidence for this? Most of the people on this thread still play RS. The Off-Topic forum isn't exactly buzzing with this news.
  10. It couldn't actually be that: 1) We don't like being put under the impression that we can vote against this, even though we can't and someone else will vote for us anyway, or; 2) We don't like PKing and don't see any need to remove trade restrictions. I lol'd a little at the the irony of your post too, given the official word is pretty much 'Yes, or else someone will vote Yes for you'. Maybe I'm just not thinking for myself.
  11. Those who said Jagex doesn't want our opinion, only free publicity, are right imho. That much is obvious. Even if it were possible for Jagex to quantify how many accounts there are, and this information was released into the public for scrutiny in order to see how many 'No's there are, it's impossible to judge if this vote is fair because of all the corruption (vote bots, people voting on behalf of friends etc.) going on. If this actually was a real vote, and they allowed such rampant abuse of the system, and they still went with the result, they'd be idiots and possibly in legal trouble.
  12. If only Crumble Undead actually worked on multi targets. I'd camp the ghouls near Canifis.
  13. I'm not sure how a login disproves the fact that there is no 'No' vote, regardless of who owns the account.
  14. What's that got to do with anything?
  15. Removing PKing and free trade was not surrender. There was a genuine belief at the time that the introduction of trade limits and gravestones would systematically stop people from giving millions and millions over to different accounts. I'm not here to justify their means, but it's simply ignorant to think removing the Wilderness had anything to do with giving up the fight against bots and RWTing; if anything, it was fighting too hard and punishing innocents. It wasn't until after the update that people found ways around it, unless you're telling me you saw this coming, in which case, can an admin change your title to "Professional Seer"? Maybe you want to pick my Lotto numbers?
  16. They've developed new anti-bot tech in the past month that allows them to stop botting and goldfarming, so that's why they're reintroducing all this; yet they can't even stop people botting their so-called 'poll' within hours of its publication? Spare me the rubbish...this has nothing to do with them getting on top of RWT or botting, it's them making surrender look like something negotiable with benefits for players who buy into it. It's no coincidence this poll was released on the same day Jagex offered 31 automatic tickets a month for a lottery to those who kept their subscriptions going. Instead of fighting the botters, they've acquiesced them as an inevitable flaw in their game, done away with all the safeguards and bribed people into still paying their monthly subscriptions with promises of Free Trade, old-skool PKing and $10K lucky dips. It's as subtle as a brick through a window.
  17. Might buy all of 30 seconds... ..It's the principle that counts. <_<
  18. I already have. Was looking for ways to save some cash for driving lessons anyway. Yay morally correct budgeting!
  19. Cancel your subscription and give your monies to a charity that focuses on eliminating third-world corruption then. Maybe not the latter, but certainly the former. I hate it when do-gooders don't do-good themselves
  20. Which announcement is this? The Editorial recruitment drive? I've spent a fair few hours in my time criticising the Tip.It Times Editorial panel's standards but I'll hold off accusing them of RWT!
  21. It's not so much the issue I'm opposed to, but I dislike being treated like an idiot. Anyone with even a slight understanding of how an election works can see this is a total fix and it's going to happen whether we want it or not. I'm guessing the motivation is because Jagex want the quick buck, but to make a 'poll' under the impression that somehow what we say actually means a damn is pretentious and arrogant, and I expect better from a company I have given over £150 of my money to. There's a relationship between customer and company, it has to be based on a level of trust, and Jagex have broken that for me. If I want to spend cash on playing with intolerable children, being part of a degenerate community run by a company that doesn't give a crap for anything except profit margins, I'll spend it on XBL. By the way, some of the 360's games are far beyond anything RuneScape will ever hope to achieve, Golden Joystick or not.
  22. Read again: Win $10,000 every month in 2011. The language is pretty unambiguous, yet when you go into the detail, you actually stand no chance (no matter how tiny) of winning $10K a month.
  23. I clicked' vote' thinking it would lead me to a page saying, 'No'. You're meant to vote 'No' by not voting at all? What's the difference between abstaining and disagreeing here? Not even George W Bush could mastermind this one. Second misleading page title in 24 hours.
  24. Title is very misleading. Especially if they take winning tickets out of the draw - then it's impossible to win $10,000 per month unless you have ten accounts.
