  1. :wall: So much for investigative journalism, ey? Putting it on the front page of the BBC's website even getting confirmation.
  2. It's Delhi now. Those gunmen moved fast from Mumbai, even without a sea. [/sicksenseofhumour]
  3. The points I'm making are these. The rest was banter: 1) We can play hypothetical scenarios until the cows come home. I can use any scenario my imagination can think of, and believe, knowing me, it wouldn't take long to think of one. This is going nowhere. 2) Your scenario was so disconnected from the original point of this thread it's silly. The motives are different, the consequences are different, there's barely any similarity at all and comparing psychology like that is ridiculous. Make a relevant point, or don't. It's your choice.
  4. I would have had to have sucked in a subject at school first. PE doesn't count since the test was mostly regurgitated Biology. ;) I wish you would. Comparing a school test, where the biggest punishment I'll get is a retest, to breaking into someone's house in sheer desperation where the worst possible punishment I'll get is a jail sentence, or someone shooting me dead, is plainly illogical. I'll leave you to talk to a criminologist before trying to second guess the psychology of a thief. ;) This post is so full of winks, you can make a parallelogram out of it (I think).
  5. Great video, BlueLancer. We were never taught the self-defence part, but handing over your possessions and informing the police afterwards is by far the safest thing to do. It's common street knowledge. Yeah, as in, when someone's life is in unlawful danger and there's absolutely no alternative but to use deadly force. Someone walking in through your door with a gun hardly equates to popping a bullet through their head, though! Your first point defies logic too. Many people steal, or break into houses because they're desperate for money. It's not exactly a career choice they keep coming back to, when the risks against them are so high.
  6. And destroy exactly what makes OT, OT? No thanks.
  7. You know Godwin's Law? They should apply it to the American Dream as well as Hitler. What on Earth has that got to do with the majority of PKers who didn't engage in RWT? Your judgements throughout that post just reeked of a generalising 13-year-old with a chip on his shoulder because he once got PKed despite accepting that's a possibility when you entered the Wilderness. Was it not at all possible for a PKer to work his way up for money (by fetching, or alching), buy the equipment, go into the Wilderness, legitimately kill other players for loot and still earn an honest gold piece?
  8. I wanna know more about this, but unfortunately, the BBC's North America editor Justin Webb seems to be too obsessed with watching the coronation of His Majesty Obama and whining about petrol pumps at Tesco than actually covering the 100m+ people he's paid to report on who aren't in the US. EDIT: I'm reading over some very limited information on Wikipedia, and it appears to methat politically, the Conservatives are a lame duck. The coalition government looks set to take over, it seems a done deal. That makes a request for another election unreasonable, and in a time of economic crisis, prorogation seems like a stupid idea, especially on the time scale they're considering. As far as democracy is concerned, if the majority of the House does not have confidence in its leader, the leader cannot remain there. The same was true for Chamberlain here during the War. Surely, in these times of hardship, it is better to have a coalition with a majority of seats, able to take decisive action, than have one party in a minority constantly having to watch out for flanking by the other three parties. I guess I'll have to read up on tonight's speech tomorrow morning, or if I'm incredibly lucky, BBC News will have it on at midnight.
  9. It's been doned. We should go through all the others and rate them 1 too. ;) As for the P.S., there's a bigger story behind that, and not one I'm allowed to mention in public.
  10. I was quite sympathetic to people who 'died' around me in standard monster combat. I always held on to their possessions, and tried to get in contact so they could reclaim them. They always thanked me like I'd just given them a spare kidney or something. :? PKers... that's where my ethics got a little bit blurred. Typically, if someone was attacked in the Wilderness, whether they were in PKing gear or not, I would hold on to the stuff for them to reclaim. If someone attacked someone else, and got killed though, I had no sympathy at all. I let the defender take the loot, had a laugh, and went on with my business. As well as my personal convictions to promote fairness, I also did it because of an experience I had. I was mining coal in the Skeletons' Pit, just north-west of Edgeville. When making the return journey, somebody maged me. I had a poor ranged level, so I was in metal armour, and unsurprisingly died. The PKer had an attack of conscious and PMed me to meet up and return my stuff. He believed that his attack on me was unjust and needless, since I was no threat to him and was carrying a weapon he couldn't even loot. I got everything back, except the coal for that run and the Red CW sword which couldn't be returned for obvious reasons. Since then, I tried to maintain fairness with other RSers. I gave antipoisons when somebody needed it, cakes when someone was dying, a weapon when a bank was ages away and a random came knocking. Cooperation helps the world go round. Well, it did until Jagex removed unbalanced trading...

Or one of us could make a 'title' post in this thread here and now, copy all the information from the title post into the new post, and Caxis could provide a link to the exact post in the real title post? I'm on each and every day, so I can update it no problems. I don't mind doing it if everyone else is fine with that. It's not ideal, but it's a lot less hassle for the mods. I don't mind who now leads the club, but I'd prefer Mano or Kent.
  12. It is the Daily Telegraph. I think they tried convincing us half of them were British or something. Their evidence? The attackers used Blackberry devices to search British websites. No doubt they were trained, but that paper's hardly reliable.
  13. Come on, let's stop the whiny "OMFG PKers killed me!!!" talk. No one made you enter the wilderness, you accepted the risks when you entered. The only borderline legitimate argument Jagex could come up with was that RWTers (completely separate group to PKers) were using it to conduct their trades. Also, surely people on this board can argue without resorting to the argumentum ad hominem fallacy. This statement also applies to the person who referred to all RS quitters as "moronic teenagers". If you want to prove I'm moronic for leaving, engage in a proper argument with me, rather than mud-slinging.

That might be difficult. You've not put your FC anywhere. Sorry for the sarcasm, I'm in a funny mood and the freezing cold doesn't help. -.-
  15. You did say "That goes for all of you". It was fairly ambiguous. I'll agree, most people in Britain really don't know anything about Texas. In fact, most people in Britain don't know America that well, except the white middle-class high school celebrity utopia on the Disney Channel. Britain and foreign food... lol. Thankfully my local Chinese is run by real Chinese students who cook real Chinese food. ;) You seem to be under the assumption my family isn't on a low income? I'm not gonna play the "I lived in poverty for a few years, gimme sympathy" card, but I wouldn't exactly claim I'm rich in comparison either. Perhaps the issue there is social security in America is inadequate, so people are having to pick and choose between what types of insurance they can get away with not paying? Types of insurance that would be deemed vital elsewhere. That's not the issue. The issue is America has much more land to build on, so there's more houses, and the size of each house is comparatively larger for its worth than, say, a council flat in Staines. Insuring those houses shouldn't be a problem, and if there is a problem, something's seriously wrong with the distribution of wealth.
  16. I'm gonna take a wild guess and say that's crap. Some Texans and myself will find many differences, not because of some stereotype that's been handed to me from the "liberals", but simply because our lives and culture are fundamentally different. Given house prices are so comparatively low in America compared to the rest of the world, again, I'm incredibly sceptical that most Texans are unable to afford house insurance, and thus, depend on a weapon for security. If the opposite is true, I'll hazard a guess those very same people who need guns like a life force because they can't afford alternative forms of security also oppose Obama for saying comments like "spread the wealth", because of some ridiculous stigma from the Republican Party claiming it's the first step to the Communist revolution in America. Even while living below the breadline mark, my Dad was able to afford house insurance.
  17. Insane, epic fail.
  18. Sorry to break the euphoria, but the fundamental flaws in this game still remain: It's barely an RPG, definitely not one in which there are several routes to the same objective*, and for an MMORPG, it has an immensely negative and weak community with very few exceptions (Tip.It being one of them). That is why, despite having a whole cornucopia of free time to spend these days, I'm still completely turned off at the prospect of logging into RS again. [hide=*]By that statement, I mean training is still far too linear and repetitive. It still remains the case that most skills don't require any personal skill, just patience and tolerance for the same action over and over again, and thus it is too hard to relate or gain satisfaction from the game. RPGs need variety like America needs guns, and RuneScape has very little. Variety that is, not guns.[/hide]
  19. Cash in My Pocket (featuring Daniel Merriweather) - Wiley I just love the video. :P

Red = Off (well, standby. Taking the plug out = Off) Yellow = Standby, connected to WiiConnect 24:7 Green = On
  22. NZ failing against Aus is still better than England being thrashed 5-0 in India in ODIs. Given, we're more of a test team, but it could have been worse had the last two matches not been called off owing to the Mumbai attacks. Not even Pietersen can save us now. :?
  23. Meh, Buzz[roosters] is better. Simon and Phil bat off each other, and you're guaranteed a laugh. HIGNFY only has one comedian - Paul. Hislop's just a Tory biggot. Now Angus is gone, it's only worth watching if they've got a proper comedian with Paul, like Frank Skinner last week.

No Rick'Roll, Ashley'Roll or McRoll will save you from the disturbing cuteness of Kirby. It's like hypnosis, but with sounds instead of funky pictures. :? http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=QhMQzBj-J3E
  25. You completely missed the point. You should teach them violence is never a justifiable means to solving life's little problems.
