Some Might Say - Oasis I had it anyway from my Dad's album, but I got GH4 for Christmas.

Gun Control
Give the innocent a handicap while you let the criminals roam around with the most lethal weapon they want? Brilliant! Oh God, now you mention it, the streets outside my house are just swarming with gun wielding maniacs on a mission to commit mass genocide, all because I got no gun to defend myself. How I did not notice this beforehand completely eludes me.

Communism - Yea or Nay?
I stopped reading here. I've argued this half a dozen times in the General Board - RuneScape is not Communism.

"I want a girlfriend/boyfriend", and other such relationship advice
Damn right. Radio 1 without Zane is just not worth living for. I don't prolong vowels btw.

Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas! I gave my sister a DVD of The Golden Compass, my Dad a DVD of The Dark Knight and Batman Returns, and my brother a Man Utd calender.

Today...
Recently I've been having trouble accessing the Internet. The broadband modem from old still works fine though, it's just the router, so I'm confined to using the family computer until the wireless is sorted. I logged on this morning for the first time in three days and experienced a slightly personal revelation - the past three days had been my most active and contentful for the last two years, and I'd felt better for it even if I had blown £20 going out. Hmm... I can't get a job, because there's no work going for a gap year student with no intentions of staying in Preston after August, and the part-time jobs have been saturated by students at the local uni, but it's time to sign up for voluntary work.

Who is your favorite Tipiter?
If they play RuneScape, would they want coal? :?

Moral Dilemma
If I pulled the lever there'd just be an almighty crash between two trains anyway, because one's on the wrong line. 3 people < 2 trains. Just give it something to suck on? It's crying for a reason, see what it is, cater to it, and it would stop crying. I'm a virgin. That really would be a miracle anyway.

Homosexuality: Right or Wrong?
You know on the threads about the economy? If I say, "Being a socialist I'm too bigoted to accept any form of capitalism", would that be OK? I just wanna run it by people who use religion as an excuse to their own homophobia, that's all.

Ears that stick out
Not difficult, to be honest. Nothing wrong with 'em.

{{A Very Difficult Question}}
Three embryos which would not otherwise exist anyway. You cannot prevent something which does not exist in the first place. The use of the word 'life' is pretty loose there too. Only if the parents are rubbish. Any decent parent values each of their children equally, regardless of how or why they arrived in the world. I would. I find it immoral that you have a legal way of saving Jeff from his condition, yet choose not to because of your own moral principles. It's not exactly wishing death or suffering on him, but nor is it saving him from it either.

Father named child Adolf Hitler, and asks for tolerance
I don't think so. I actually think their sales would have doubled. They'd get alot of heat and such though.. Don't underestimate the power of that "heat". Want a precedent? The Sun still sells barely anything in Merseyside.

Do you like to read?
I'd like to say I read, but I don't. I've never found any meaning in reading (ooh rhyme). If I do read though, it's usually non-fiction.

Smash Club.
Any broadband works, although obviously the faster the better for online play. The only other thing you need to get online is a compatible router (check Nintendo's website, they test loads regularly) or a Nintendo Wi-Fi USB dongle which costs about £30. The dongle works with both the Wii and the DS.

Do you think you'll ever kill someone?
Don't feel guilty, all you "yes"ers. Scientists repeated the famous Milgram test. The one where they got ordinary people to deliver high voltage electrical shocks to test subjects, and see how far they'd go. Apparently, even though the test subject was screaming out in pain, 70% of people would have raised the voltage. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/health/7791278.stm Freaky. :?

For all us cynics out there...
People get happy by doing the things they enjoy, or things that bring them comfort. There's no "training" needed for that. :| It also depends on the person.

The Big Three (GM, Ford and Chrysler)
The whole principle behind capitalism, especially in America, is that capitalism makes itself stronger in a recession by shedding the "bad" companies which weaken the economy, providing a gap for stronger companies to come forward. Giving a bailout to every Tom, [Richard] & Harry who gets in trouble is clearly undoable and overrides that basic principle, which has made the economy so prosperous over the last ten years. There is a danger here that we can overreact and end up messing the system up even more with unsustainable bailouts, which we'll have to pay off either through increased borrowing or higher taxes later. 3 million jobs won't go. Anyone in the media saying they will is either being sensationalist, or lazy. It's like Woolworths here. 30,000 jobs are not going to evapourate into thin air, no matter how many times BBC News wants to say so. The stores will still need security guards, no matter who (if indeed anyone), is occupying the building. Whoever takes over the store will likely keep on any previous trained staff members, instead of going through the interview and training processes all over again. If you have capitalism, then accept that weak companies will die, and jobs will go as a result. That's the price you pay for having that system. This idealism that you can somehow have the safeguards socialism provides, AND still have the financial prosperity capitalism provides, especially when we're in a trillion USD's worth of collective debt is ridiculous. You cannot have your cake and eat it.

For all us cynics out there...
I suppose it's a double-edged sword really. There are cynics who constantly look for sinister motives, and cynics who look at people benignly. Although you could argue cynicism itself is a natural feeling of distrust - a negative emotion. Linking cynicism, a trait, with intelligence, a quality, is really really really silly by the way...

Who needs 8 hours of sleep?
You know what would also increase efficiency? Scraping the concept of a week. Seriously. Studies show that workers are more likely to slack off on a Tuesday because psychologically the weekend seems ages away. So, scrap Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, and efficiency will improve ten-fold! Some things, no matter how many studies are done, are just not practical.
-
Who needs 8 hours of sleep?
No, naps can be prolonged for as much as an hour and a half, you can sleep if with your girlfriend on occassion as a bonus sleep block, which is beneficial. Look, you're a surgeon. I know you guys have it choca, but think of the regular person working 9-5. Can they honestly adjust their body clocks to a pattern like this? It's one way to get fired, I guess. Imagine going out for drinks, and having a nap for an hour in the middle. It would kinda kill the mood. :| This schedule just isn't compatible with how human society organises its working day.

Do you think you'll ever kill someone?
I can't even bring myself to hurt someone in a friendly way, let alone actually murder someone without a reason. :?

Personality Test
It depends on how accurate you want it to be. There are no 100% accurate personality tests, and no person's personality is 100% identical to someone else's. End of. Nor did I say it was a representation. The Myers-Briggs test was originally designed as an analysis. Just because something isn't exactly precise does not make it 'random'. Everyone has a unique personality, but it is still predetermined through experience, thus cannot possibly be 'random' by definition. I find that, speaking generally, getting a second opinion in life is never harmful. Your analogy is like getting two plumbers to look at a burst pipe, but instead of weighing both their opinions against each other, discrediting one of them in ignorant belief the other is automatically 'less wrong'. Surely it's wisest to take both tests, read into the subject in detail, and take everything into consideration? As I said before, no one, and I mean no one, is recommending you base your whole life on a single personality test taken as a teenager. Has anyone even claimed this is scientific? However: That really is rubbish.

Who needs 8 hours of sleep?
Naw... I'd rather be lazy for 8 hours. Takes me about half an hour to go to sleep anyway, unless I'm really out of it.
