  1. Lt Wolfe Edit: Please note that I used to be a Mage pure, but then saw the error of my ways and reformed. I am now anti-pking, but while I am against PvP, I do understand the need for it in any game. It is for this reason that I support mini-games such as BH and Clan Wars, as well as servers dedicated to PKing. I do not, however, support the ability for pkers to move between servers on a whim. You do realize that, even if you aren't part of that sub-group, being part of their culture makes you instantly susceptible to any and all attacks on pkers, right? Even if it WERE only a few pkers that were like this, it has happened so many times that people are getting a bad image of pkers. Whether or not you want to associate yourself with them doesn't matter: you are going to be lumped in with them. It is your job as a pk to cut the others out of the picture. If you want people to start respecting pkers then you need to give them a reason to do so. I respect 3 Hit U, but only because of his history and his manners. If he were to start saying "lol nub" at every turn I'd instantly throw him to the corner. This game is no place for people like those so called "some". But if this is an image problem as you say it is (that is, it's not true and that people only think that it's all pkers), then the pking community needs to work to set this straight. Give us a reason to think that pkers are worthy of our respect. Show us that we were wrong. It is predominantly coming from he pking sector, which is why everybody notices and complains about it. It's not just a myth, it's true. I would understand if it were just a handful of people complaining about it, but it's a large group if not a majority. You can't ignore that truth, and the fact that so many people are noticing it. Maybe it is a problem, and maybe it really does need to be addressed. I like this post... it says at first "it's only a small group that flames" then he turns around to say "you should expect it by now." That's awesome. He proves himself the dumber, and I don't have to do any work. There's the difference! Hunter is an easy skill, lets face it. With an easy to level skill comes the kids that want a quick profit. These kids are the same exact ones that came right out of the fields of the Wilderness. Your experiences while Hunting are the exact same as most peoples' while PKing/venturing out into the Wilderness, except it was in a different environment. Different place, same people. A) So what if it's discrimination? I don't remember anything stating that it's illegal in an online game. B) You are assuming that it's a skiller... there's a big difference. And even still, what is your definition of a skiller? Somebody that doesn't pk? There are mains, there are skillers, then there are pkers. Skillers generally are the ones with the most patience and the most intelligence, which is why they are generally favored over pkers like you. At least they can spell "their" instead of "there". C) I have no doubt that a lot of pkers are nice, but what I DO doubt is that the majority of them are nice. PvP itself has one objective: to kill other players, right? If so, that means that you are trying to seek any way possible to do this. A death generally isn't a very pleasurable experience for somebody, so I think it's more than fair to say that you are inflicting "pain" or at very least "discomfort" on somebody by pking them. With this logic (I hope you're still following me here), it's safe to say that the main goal of pking is to cause pain and/or discomfort to other players. I don't see where this has any hint of "honour" or even a hint of being "polite". You're saying that they invented headsets for the use of trash talking and not communicating with the other players to have a lively game? I didn't realize that every sport had to come down to which side has the best insults. This RIGHT HERE is why I hate pkers. They can't think straight, and it ruins everything for everybody. They think that it's all about insults and one-upping other people. They don't understand that you are supposed to be civil, and kind. Replying to bolded area: So if you are losing, players like you would put on Protect from Melee and run away? If you do this, damn are you that scared of losing pixels yet you flame "pkers" for following player-made rules? You aren't the only one following "the rules", he/she is as well. These are the most commonly accepted rule when f2p no-armoring (in high llv crater at least): - Don't safe - Don't item protect - Don't run away if loosing - Don't call a buddy to help you out If you are truly a better player/pker, you can beat the opponent while following these rules. If you are not, then you are pixel-hungry therefore making you a nerd which you so much dislike (pkers flame = players like you think they are nerds. pkers follow rules = same thing) Hippocrates.. -_- sad new era players >______>. Wouldn't it be funny if Jagex took away all the experienced gained from Pest Control ever? Hah! I can imagine 90% of the current high levels going back to being low-mid levels =\ buh edit: its pathetic how users don't reply to my posts. If they do, I reply back and then I make them look dumb so they report me making themselves look smart & educated -_- I myself have yet to ever gain a level from Pest Control, but what makes it so much worse than using other methods? Last I saw, a Pest Control level was just as many experience points as any other level. Your views on Pest Control are like the views of pkers by the people you are arguing against. You say they are being biased, yet you are biased yourself. You should check yourself before you continue talking, as you don't seem to understand what you are saying. The line I really don't get is where you say "If you do this, damn are you that scared of losing pixels yet you flame "pkers" for following player-made rules?" How does self preservation even begin to compare to following rules that somebody else creates? I worked hard for my items; whether or not they are real, physical items is not important, they are each a representation of the time and effort I have put into acquiring them, just like your precious "non-PC levels". Besides, if they are just pixels, why do you want them so badly? What makes them so desirable to you, yet you think that players don't have the right to attempt to keep their own items? Oh that's right, you just want the money to be handed to you on a silver plate, no work needed. Typical pker.
  2. Brando, I personally believe that you are wrong. In the early Fourth Age, Saradominist monks put a spell on the River Salve to prevent the evils of Morytania from spreading to the West. This has allowed cities like Varrock, Al Kharid, and Lumbridge the opportunity to prosper as opposed to towns like Port Phasmatys and Canifis that have failed miserably. Saradomin openly preaches peace and harmony, whereas Zamorak and Zaros admittedly preach death, destruction, and chaos. In the Third Age Zarmorak invaded the desert, destroying Uzer and other major cities, forcing everybody to flee south to Sophanem. This was not Saradomin, this was Zamorak. While Zamorak was invading the desert, Saradomin was promoting peace. And one last thing: the Edicts of Guthix cannot be destroyed. The Edicts are like the "10 Commandments", they are rules to live by, not an actual thing. The council that is charged with the task of awaking Guthix can be destroyed, but the Edicts cannot.
  3. First: How do you know that Guthix stopped the God Wars? Again, what proof do you have other than the fact that Guthix was capable of it? And even still, it was the Wise Old Man that claims Saradomin stopped the fighting, Saradomin didn't say it, one of his followers did. Don't get the two confused. Second: You didn't cite any sources that show where Saradomin claims to have created, and I have not seen anything in my days that even hint to that conclusion. Third: Some people call it "soda" some call it "pop", are you going to tell one that they are wrong? Things have different names, it's not automatically wrong. So what if they call it something different? You're just being narrow-minded and arrogant. Fourth: I have a quest cape, too, it doesn't mean much. You can go through every quest just clicking through the chat sequences, but unless you pay attention, you won't learn much. Again, cite your sources before you attempt to make somebody else look bad. In a debate people tend to actually prove things, rather than just yell things out.
  4. Thats because most of the wizards are saradominists, so when they found out about the magic stone, they said that Saradomin created it (even when they didnt have any theory to support that, they just...lied). Saradominists ofen do that, the WOM lies a little about how Saradomin ended the God Wars and even Saradomin himself lied saying he "created" Runescape, he just "shaped" it. Do you have proof to back up any of your claims, or are you just being slanderous? Cite your sources or don't say anything.
  5. Well here's the strange part: the Edicts state that a "select group of Guthixians" would awake Guthix, which means that the Edicts would have to be activated by this council, not by Guthix Himself. If the Vyrewatch (along with other Zamorakian and Zarosian forces) are trying to "get rid" of these Edicts, the best way to do that would be to eliminate this council that is to awaken Guthix. No document or person ever speaks of who this council might be, or where they are, we only know that there is a group of them. If the Vyrewatch has found out who this group is, then our world is in peril because then once they are eliminated nothing would save us from all-out-war besides Saradomin, but He isn't even in our dimension.
  6. I agree with you that the Gate may have been in/near the Elvan homelands, as it is mentioned in the book "Prifddinas' History" which means that they saw it at some point. However, I believe that the gate is underground in the same caverns as the quest Underground Pass as the Zamorakian forces are looking for something down there with a definite purpose. The World Gate is said to have transported BOTH Humans and Elves, which would beg the question: can it be a sort of hub of activity? History tells us that Guthix sealed this gate because He was worried about evil creatures from other realms; this could be taken to mean that while the Gate may not necessarily be a two-way portal, it could act as the destination point for many other portals. Remember the key difference between Humans and Elves: Humans moved East, Elves moved West. There is nothing to say that they didn't both come from this portal, it's just that they may have come from this one and a different one that was seen in the quest Meeting History. If there were, in fact, multiple portals from which Humans arrived, this could mean that the two dimensions were extremely close to one another in the beginning of the First Age, nearly 10,000 years ago. This is where history gets to be a lot of fun: will this event ever occur again?? If the World Gate was the destination point of multiple portals, then we could be in a world of trouble when the distance between our dimension and theirs becomes much closer. On another note about the Stone of Jas: its other name is the "Eye of Saradomin", also known as the object that the wizard in the Runecrafting Guild is looking for. It was not created by Guthix, nor was it distorted by Guthix, it was simply utilized by him. As we saw in the quest Meeting History, Guthix used the stone to create these objects for Humans to use magic. The list of spells available was small, and there was no "spell book" at first. Only after much research were more spells found, and spell books created. That is interesting to me, however, that if Guthix created these stones for us, that He did not tell us how to use them. This is why I believe that, though Guthix did create Runes, he did not create them with the intent we so quickly sought. We know that Guthix did not need these stones, as He was more powerful than these Runes could ever make him. So why did he create them? My guess is that he made them unwittingly. This was a strange device that was left over by the Elder Gods before him. Think about it this way: you find a device from the ancient Greeks, would you know what it did? I think that Guthix somehow activated this device, and it instantly created Runes, sort of automatically. Now, whether or not this is the Stone's only ability I do not know, and cannot begin to fathom, but I do know one thing: Guthix was just as perplexed about them as we were, the only difference being that we had the time and the manpower to figure them out, to devastating affects.
  7. Tip.it is NOT the biggest, Runescape Community is. They have nearly double the members that Tip.it has. Tip.it has 168,288 member at the time of this post, whereas Runescape Community (Zybez.net's forum) has 296,699. Here are the stats on each forum: Zybez: Our members have made a total of 9,959,558 posts in 1,103,930 topics We have 296,699 registered accounts; our newest member is drogon xz The most users ever online was 3,503 on Nov 18 2007, 10:48 PM Tip.it: Total posts 2834933 | Total topics 198039 | Total members 168288 Most users ever online was 659 on Thu Jan 17, 2008 2:02 pm How is Tip.it even CLOSE to their numbers?? Even if you take away total posts and topics and members, they have more active members online at any one point in time; their record is actually 5.3x Tip.it's, and it's not something that they would have any reason to change manually. Your credibility is thusly nullified and voided. Thank you for posting, now please leave and take your exaggerations with you. On Topic: I believe it will be impossible for a clan to hold any one place because of one fact: peoples' desire to crush something unique. If a person is ruling over an area 20,000 people will want to try and stop him. You will need at least half of the server's population (read: at least 1,000) to take over the place, and even then you won't be able to hold onto it forever, you will need to log off to go to sleep at some point.
  8. I love Runescape history. http://runescape.wikia.com/wiki/Edicts_of_Guthix The Edicts of Guthix state that, should ANY god attempt to disrupt the balance of power, Guthixian worshipers will awake Guthix who will then destroy Gielinor and then recreate it. Think of it as a sort of "surge protector" for the game. It's actually a lot like WWI in some ways. If two gods opposed each other they might call in help, which would lead to a large war that would devastate the world, much like what happened in the Third Age, most notably in the desert). The Edicts of Guthix aren't an item, they aren't a law, it's simply a threat that if anything gets out of balance, Guthix will come and hit the proverbial reset button. Basically we just need to stay calm and prevent any god from getting too strong, even if we support that god. And no, it isn't forbidden for a god to come back, but that god is not allowed to have any influence on the world itself, only through, as Hippo said, his/her followers, which might mean that it is permitted by the Guthixian Edicts for a god to give powers to a follower that then uses that power to influence the world, but then that would also conflict with another rule of the Edicts: balance cannot be changed one way or another. The Edicts, while ancient and simple, are actually very strong in that there are no real loopholes, which I find interesting. It was indeed Guthix who created this world, but not the dimension. He found the dimension abandoned (potentially because of something like the Edicts of Guthix, but the Elder Gods didn't want to restore the world?) and created the land, the seas, and the life. Supposedly the TzHaar were also there in the beginning, but it's unclear exactly. That small portal we saw in Meeting History was actually the "World Gate" that was later sealed by Guthix due to the threat of out-side forces invading Gielinor. It is sealed to this day, but it is thought that one of the seals on the World Gate has been broken recently, which would cause a great problem for all of us, as there are many evil creatures beyond that gate.
  9. Go back through the thread and you'll find examples. But I'll be nice and compile them here for others: [hide=][/hide] And no, Gero, you cannot craft the staff. You have to earn 10,000 tokens through the minigame, then purchase the Runecrafter Staff through Elriss (it's at the bottom of her trade window, right above the Rune Essence).
  10. You guys can say what you want about this method being slower than the abyss and not worth the time and effort, but this mini-game makes Runecrafting FUN! I have fun getting the teletabs and Pure Essence, and I even have fun using the teletabs to get an inventory done in less than a minute! So go ahead and do any number crunches you want, and make any claims you want, but for me this guild is more than useful: it makes me WANT to Runecraft.
  11. The prices have risen, not fallen... Rune Essence: up 3gp each since yesterday. Pure Essence: up 2gp each since yesterday. Now lets look at the 7 day difference: Rune Essence: up 4gp since last week. Pure Essence: up 7gp since last week. That's a pretty big increase in price, not a drop. And bballer, the guild is awesome because the mini-game is a lot of fun! It isn't the greatest xp, but it gives you a lot of tokens which means amazingly fast xp later on. I find that the reason most people are complaining is because they are losing the game. They lose the game, which makes them angry, and then they react in the only way they know how: blaming the game for the players' mistakes. I have been playing both teams randomly all day yesterday and today and I have yet to lose more than a couple games. I have had enough tokens to buy me the staff and then some, but I spent them on Law teletabs instead. So really, it's all about whether or not you can play the angles correctly. I imagine that most of the people losing are losing because they either don't get the concept of the game (teamwork), they don't know how to use the wands correctly, or they are trying to make the other team lose rather than make their team win. The guild is a LOT of fun if you know how to play correctly. This is one of my favorite guilds, ranked just below the fishing guild for me.
  12. Yes! He's not American! Canada has to claim him, haha On a related note, I'd like to see just one thing: skill capes. It's honestly the only thing we need in f2p. I mean, other than perhaps allowing us to go into areas that aren't too popular in p2p, we're fine. The combat training areas are really packed at all times, but other than that, we're fine. Oh, and yew trees, those are a mess, too. So 1. Skill capes! 2. More combat training spots 3. More Yew trees possibly? 4. No more bank space. It's what makes being f2p more impressive, you can't be a pack rat. 5. Perhaps a faster way to craft runes. Right now it's a complete bore. It's an f2p skill, and yet only 1.03m are level 30+?? How is that right?
  13. That is your opinion. To me, I see it as a challenge. That's what makes the game more fun to me, not boring.
  14. I have both a p2p account and an f2p account. Does that mean I can't be bothered paying for both? Hell no. I don't even play on my p2p account anymore for the simple fact that I don't want to. I like playing on my f2p account because I have to train hard, I have to be a dedicated player in order to succeed. It's hard enough just keeping up in the high scores with people that can train the same skill 5x faster than you, all because they paid $5. I don't see that as much of an achievement. In fact, that could be seen as the same as buying power leveling. Most of your levels, I'd imagine, are from a whip, barrows/dragon armor, and sharks or monkfish, correct? Or at least you have gained most of your levels in ways that only members can use. That's pretty much the standard for p2p players. Guess what? They level up with full Rune and a Rune Scimitar, sometimes a 2h or battleaxe. They level up using lobsters, or even salmon. They gain their fishing skills by fishing salmon and trout, and they gain their prayer points by BURYING BIG BONES! Did you gain all of your 74 Prayer levels that way? Oh, I thought not, so stop talking. I don't even acknowledge you as a player. Why? Because there are too many level 110+ players out there. It's no longer an achievement, it's a standard; "what, you're not level 126 yet? lol" You'd be shocked to find how few actually feel that way. And by the way, f2p isn't leeching from Jagex, they simply just take Jagex up on an offer, how is that leeching? Now, if they had a limited trial offer, and you just kept making new accounts, that would be leeching, but not this. Perhaps many f2p people don't want your fake respect. I personally couldn't care less whether or not you even so much as knew about me. My only question to you is this: why do you hold yourself on such a pedestal? I play my f2p character almost exclusively. Why? Is it because I want your respect? No. Is it because I can't/don't want to pay for members'? No. Is it because I just want to have fun doing something I find infinitely more involving? Yes. In the end, a lot of people on f2p that stay f2p, just want to have fun. It's like pures and skillers. All I want to do is play. So leave me alone, and keep your insults to yourself, I really don't care what you have to say. In the end, I will see my levels as being better than those of a p2p, because I used methods that may have required more time, money, and/or effort to achieve. I don't care if you see it that way or not.
  15. You can't guarantee that in real life either, but guess what? Is every so called "trust trade" a scam? No, look at Amazon, Bestbuy.com, or NewEgg.com, or ANY online retailer. What GUARANTEE do you have that they won't just take your money and run? It takes a day to set up a web site, so don't tell me "they have a place where you can reach them," because RuneScape accounts are more permanent than websites are. You AGAIN are saying that anybody loaning an item out must be a scammer, otherwise they wouldn't do it. Why? Why do entrepreneurs have to be labeled as scammers? Do you have any evidence that they have scammed? Do you have any real proof of it? I would love to see some, if that is the case. And here's why real-life analogies fail! Most (if not all) online retailers have a method for you to track your order online. Of course, the online companies themselves aren't doing any of the shipping; that's handled through third-parties like UPS or Federal Express. That's where the "guarantee" is, and that guarantee's pretty ironclad -- after all, it's FedEx and UPS that are giving out the tracking numbers. As far as RuneScape goes, the only real guarantee you get when you deal with items is in the trade system, not the Item Lending system. Ergo, you have no way to assure yourself or anyone else for that matter that you'll receive the agreed payment. Second, I never said that anything about people loaning out items being scammers. I have no clue where you got that from, or why you thought I said it. All I said is that it's a matter of principle. You just don't have any way to guarantee that the deal is going to go all the way through with Item Lending. Of course, if you have evidence to the contrary, I'd love to see that. Lastly, I don't understand what your analogy is between RuneScape accounts and websites, the former being "more permanent" than the latter. What were you on about? [side-note] Seriously folks, how many of you honestly forgot that this system wasn't meant as a way to rent items in the first place? Lets take this in the order you said them: 1. If I understand you correctly, you are saying that a website gives you a tracking number, and it tells you that it's in such-and-such a location. How can you GUARANTEE that this is correct? How do you know that they are shipping EXACTLY what you ordered? How can you be so sure that they are being honest? Forget the fact that there are millions of scamming web sites, that alone worth looking at and comparing to RuneScape, I'll just tell you that anybody can be scammed by anything. So again, how is this new Item Lending/Loaning thing so bad? You have no guarantee you will get what you want with either this or online shopping. A simple note saying "your item is on its way" isn't enough to guarantee something. You are taking FAITH in that statement. You are HOPING that they are sending you something. Unless you actually go to their warehouse and pick it up yourself before paying for it, you have the chance of getting scammed. Even if it is UPS or Fed Ex that are giving you the order numbers, and even saying that they have no reason to lie to you, there is still no guarantee that the place you bought the item from isn't just a box filled with newspaper or something else. You have no way of knowing EXACTLY what is in that box, do you? You never know, just like you never know with Item Loaning. 2. That part about the scammers was more aimed at Mylez, as I was trying to argue against his points as well, but as proven by the statement below, he obviously can't comprehend things such as you, I commend you for that. 3. It was a rough analogy, but one important none-the-less. When I said that RuneScape accounts were more permanent than websites, I was saying that a website can scam somebody, and immediately close down, without you knowing anything about them, or how to reach them, or even bring litigation against them. However, a RuneScape account cannot be deleted, and is tied with an I.P. address. This, along with other things, can be reported to Jagex, and action can be taken. The whole analogy comes down to the point that, in reality, RuneScape accounts that scam through Item Loaning are potentially more punishable than scamming websites. If you get scammed by a website, there may not be a way to track them, as you would a RuneScape account, and its owner. 4. Many things in this world are used in such ways that were not originally intended. Computers, if you remember, were not created with gaming in mind, but were instead meant to be used for calculations. The Internet was meant to be a way to communicate, share, and process information, not allow for people to create likenesses of themselves and allow those likenesses to level up, kill things, and even kill other players. Then you are too thick to reach, and no amount of logic or reasoning can make you see through your ego.
  16. RuneScape is NOT still in the beta phase. Changes are always being made, but for the most part, for anything in the game, Item Lending will probably remain nearly unchanged. How so? I've never broken a single rule. You're telling me that if a person scams another via the item lending system, and I report it... I should be banned? LOL. I don't think so. I know the rules very well, and telling me I should be banned based on nothing is pathetic. And I quote! "Effective date: 15th July 2008 You must not misuse Jagex Customer Support. This includes threatening or reporting an innocent person, supplying false information and abusing Jagex staff." Therefore, for having no evidence of a rule being broken, and the likelihood of all legality in said event being... legal, you are guilty of breaking Rule #10: Misuse of Customer Support. While you say "you don't know if they won't scam you," yet you fail to mention the fact that YOU don't know that they will. Not all people are bad, and there are those that are honest, hard working people, you just don't want to believe in it, because it would completely destroy your argument. So again, to surmise: you ARE breaking the rules, and you are not the pretty pretty princess you thought you were. Not to mention the fact that you don't know if they were scammed, you only have their words to base it on. If I randomly said "hey! _____ scammed me!" would you be correct in reporting (insert name here)? I think the universal answer, regardless of your stance on reporting, to be "no." You are only seeing what you want to see, and I can only hope that you'll end up shooting yourself in the foot (figuratively) one day because of it. *Half* And a scam could still happen here, the scammer will still get 50% lol. Once again, an example of your pessimism. Not all people are scammers. There are legitimate reasons for paying for a borrowed item: for instance, the person would not otherwise lend you said item unless you compensated him/her for his/her time without that item. Just think about how Capitalism works, not Communism. And the world should be filled with millions of pretty ponies, balloons, and chocolate cakes for EVERYONE! Oh wait, I just remembered: life isn't fair. Do you know what money is? It's not the value people put on it, it's not the "trust in the government" that backs it: currency is the value people put on their time. Obviously, then, you would want to make your time worth more. In that case, you would want to increase your price, and use that made-up value to spend on somebody else's valued time. For instance: you spend an hour of your time making Nature Runes. Somebody else spends an hour of their time mining Pure Rune Essence, which you buy for 150gp each, meaning that you put a price of 150gp per essence below the value of spending your time making Nature Runes, because you feel you can maximize your net worth. Without this desire to maximize our value, the world would be like the U.S.S.R. in the 1980's. I dare you, Seraphyna (or anybody else, for that matter), to go up to somebody in REAL LIFE and tell them to give you something simply because they shouldn't care about money. You might be right, though. Maybe we shouldn't care so much about money. But then, if we didn't care about money, we would all be worthless, and nothing would ever get done, because the value we put on menial jobs such as maintenance and custodial work would be below that of anything else, just about. We worry about money because we want to survive. We want to better our standard of living. We want to have all the things we want, and more. You can't do that if you're constantly giving away things, can you? Good thing a jagex mod posted on the forums saying it's legal as long as you don't organize on forums :wall: Thanks to people who report like you, people get blackmarks for things they don't deserve. I'm aware of this THANKS. How do you know these weren't pre-organised? :) How do you know they were? You said you reported them, apparently without any knowledge of the event. You didn't know if they had just met there by coincidence, or if they had planned it. Out of those 10 people you reported, are you telling me that 100% of them planned it on the forums? And if so, why report them when the forum moderators and Jagex staff can see the digital evidence trail leading right up to them? You didn't know, and that's just it. You can't go around calling in an air strike when you don't know what you're facing. Now, if you had hard evidence, and I mean REAL proof that they planned it on the RuneScape.com official forums, then that would be a different story. However, since you have no proof, or at least have mentioned no proof thus far, I must assume that you have none, and thus are reporting on the basis of stereotyping: "if somebody loans an item, they must therefore be scamming," and that's wrong. You could very well have reported an innocent person, and you would then be held responsible for the reprecussions of that report. By reporting an innocent person, you are wasting everybody's time, and I just got done telling you how time is so valuable, and how we want to maximize our time's worth, so why would you want to devalue somebody's worth? Are you saying that the people working at Jagex Customer Support aren't worth enough to only look at reports that are backed by real evidence? Are you saying that they are worth no more than that? The same could be said in the real world, yet I don't see the world's economy come crashing down because of scammers, do you? You obviously haven't learned that scammers are a relatively small percentage of the population. You are in for one hell of a shock when you get out into the real world and discover that not all people are evil. I will leave you with Rule #10, once again:
  17. You people are taking it too seriously. This isn't a "highscores" like the other games. This is a different one, and you are all freaking out because "zomgz it's not lyk those other gamezz!" Face it, it is the "high" scores. Maybe not "ultra-high" scores, but "high." What else would you prefer them to be called, "Player Catelog"? It doesn't show everybody, only those with skills HIGHER than level 30, and in the top 2m in that skill. So really, by being on the "high" scores, you are beating out the other nearly 7 BILLION people in the world. I don't see how that's not "high." You people need to change your view of what the word "high" means, because it's not nearly as big as you think it is.
  18. I will admit, my first character on WoW was a female. Why? She looked better than the guys, and I figured "what the heck?" Then you get to level 70, join a new guild, start raiding, join their Vent server, and "ZOMG UR NOT A GURL!" Hilarity ensues. Well, hilarity and hours of explaining, then getting told that you're a pervert, a sicko/wacko, and you need help. Oh, and that you also need to get a life, but that's universal. Trust me: so not worth it. The slight advantage that you would get from guys getting you stuff would be far outweighed by the horrifying nightmare that is stalkers.
  19. Go on the official forums. Then look for people POSTING IN ALL CAPS or lyk sayn stuf lyk ths, u no, u c? Then look them up on the high scores. Just today I found that almost EVERY one of those idiots focused on combat, and not skills. Why? Non-combat skills take a certain type of person: a patient one. You're probably saying something like "but it's all the same amount of xp," and you'd be right, if it weren't for the strangest thing. You see, there's a reason why kids like pvp, it's easy to understand, and you can see who is the best. There is no gray area. It's either yes, or no. Non-combat skills, on the other hand, require comprehension. There is no best way to level them, nor is there a "best" skiller. No one can make potions better than anyone else. They can make more potions, but not "better" really. Again, look at the posts, you'll see all the idiots that type with horrible grammar and English are either not native to the English language, or they are complete morons. In that case, they probably prefer combat, because it's just "click here, win."
  20. Personally, I LOVE slayer. It's the most fun skill out there, to me. I train it, just to train it. I hardly ever get worthwhile drops. When I do, it's just a nice bonus. However, someone said something about how if the rewards weren't tradeable, it would be that much better. I kind of agree. It would make the things THAT much better, and much much more of an achievement. I kind of wish it was like that... Lol, imagine if abbysal whips were untradeable  That's exactly what I was trying to get people to think about. What if Slayer had actually become a requirement, instead of a skill we could level to make money? As it stands, that is all Slayer is really good for, or at best for being self sufficient. If you had to get 85 Slayer for the Abyssal Whip, just imagine how good those people will high Slayer level would be. Just imagine the sight of a person with a whip, and you look up to him or her as a kind of "hero" or "elite" player. We would get the sense of accomplishment back into the game. You look at a level 126 these days and think "wow, that's cool" but back when the whip was new, and you saw a 126 with one, it was "holy crap... he's a god!" I think that's what this game needs to keep it fresh. It acts as a motivation for people. To think "hey, I can do that. I want to do that!" would get people to train harder, and give them a reason to train: I certainly would want that. And with the way things are now, I've seen level 70-something's with whips. While that's fine and dandy, I still think that whips should be in the hands of the most powerful people, along with Dark Bows, and Dragon Boots, and the like. And just so people don't go saying "omg he just wants the stuff for himself" I want you guys to know that I'm only level 59 Slayer at the moment. Not like I'd get to keep a lot of cool stuff for myself, other than Mithril Boots.
  21. So far all you have listed is ways that Summoning makes the game easier, not better. Everything on your list was done before, it just took longer. So really, Summoning isn't a great skill, it's just a skill that speeds things up, which doesn't necessarily make it a great skill that one can't live without. I don't think you understand the phrase "can't live without." It means that it has to be something that cannot be done with any other method, like lighting pyre logs, or fletching magic longbows, or perhaps even building yourself a house. Summoning is useless in the fact that it doesn't let us do anything we couldn't have done before... it just lets us do it quicker and easier. Construction at least lets us build a home in which we can battle friends in a multitude of ways never seen before. I doubt anybody has seen the pummeling game before, American Gladiators' style. Or even allowing us to store items beyond our bank's normal capacity. Heck, Construction even gave us new ways to spend time with our friends like the dungeon, or just sitting down to the dining table to have a meal made by the cook. Even if it isn't Construction, skills like RuneCraft, which was released due to the horrible effort to get to 99 Magic, has new abilities. The skill itself created a major industry in essence running. It created the viability of alching items for profit. And that was just what it offered at release. Now, years later, there's the Abyss which successfully acts as a transport system to anywhere in the world, just about. You can go from Edgeville to the Digsite in a matter of seconds, or even to Shilo Village. With pure essence, it created a seperate sector for lower level members: the ability to mine these essence, and make millions of gp with no need to be a level 100 or greater. Even something like Firemaking is more useful than Summoning. With Firemaking, you have the ability to explore new areas unaccessible without a light. It makes fishing and cooking a viable f2p staple of life. Without firemaking, people would be constricted to certain areas, with certain requirements. Now, people can feel free to roam about the world, knowing they can do whatever it is that they need to do, because they have the security of a light, or the mobility of a fire. Fishing to the West of Port Sarim isn't a joking matter, simply because of the ability to light a fire right next to you, to allow you to cook on the spot. If that weren't possible, there would be absolutely no reason to fish there, other than solidarity. Any skill is more viable, and more useful, than Summoning. It gives us cool pets that give us cool bonuses, but NONE of them offer us anything we couldn't do before. And I know someone will say "but now a level 80 can kill a level 100 monster, where he/she might not have been able to before." But guess what? That is remedied with this quick solution: Prayer Potions. If a person is able to kill a monster with a minion (assuming that this person has level 43 Prayer), then that person is more than capable of killing that monster. "But that would require Prayer that a person might not have," you say? Then isn't leveling Prayer just as simple as leveling Summoning to a level suitable to summon a significant attack minion? Anything lower than Bronze Minotaur, I'll even say, isn't going to be enough to help a person overcome that difficulty of killing a monster that is a much higher level than him/her. The same goes for Slayer, really. I'd be fine with Slayer if the unique drops weren't able to be traded. An Abyssal Whip, Dragon Boots, or even the Granite Maul would be great rewards for a person of that Slayer level. But it's sad when a person with level 1 Slayer can wield something that requires level 85 Slayer to get. I believe this is the point that most people hate about Slayer: the "rewards" aren't rewards, so much as methods to get money. The fact is, a lot of the newly released skills are useless. Summoning, Slayer, and especially Hunter. Ah Hunter, the skill that everybody levels up for the sake of leveling it up. So you can get Reds that make you gain faster Ranged levels. Again, that's not a unique ability, that's just something that speeds it up. The ONLY unique abilities of this skill are the clothes: Spotted/Spottier Capes, and the Thieving gloves. But lets face it, those could have been added as rewards for quests, minigames, other skills, or just purchasable from a clothing store. The only use that Hunter has right now, in any way, is to help with Ranged, weight, and Summoning (with the Ruby Harvest butterflies). We've taken care of how Summoning is useless, so that gets rid of the butterflies. Ranged can be trained without Reds, so there they go. The items that lower your weight could have been given out with the other methods stated above. To me, it just seems like Hunting is just a filler that Jagex made for the desire to release another skill to let people level. There was no thought behind it, and no follow-through to make it successful. If this post wasn't long enough already, I'll just add one more paragraph to it. People keep saying that Firemaking is pointless, and that it offers no rewards. I fear that people are only clicking on the skill and scrolling through the pages to see what rewards are offered. Little does anybody realize that you need Firemaking to do things such as certain minigames, like the Tears of Guthix. Who doesn't want free experience points? Oh but wait, without Firemaking, there would be no lanterns, which mean you can't go down there to get all of that free experince. As well, Firemaking allows people to be mobile. When fishing, do you really want to go to a crowded area, which makes the fishing spot jump around like it's playing a game of Tag? Or do you want to find a secluded area where you can just relax, fish, cut a log, burn it, and cook your fish? I think that Firemaking allows F2P the ability to train Fishing and Cooking a lot easier, and with many more methods, than otherwise possible. It makes certain areas of the map more readily accessible, and more desirable than other, more popular, areas. Rimmington is a ghost town, but mainly because of the lack of a bank. There are fishing spots, and even willow trees there that nobody visits, because they can't bank, and then sell those items. But bring a woodcutting ax, and a tinderbox, and you have one of the best training areas in all of F2P. Firemaking cannot become part of another skill for the need of diversity. There are so many things that require Firemaking, that would make any other skill completely loaded with rewards, which would turn everybody to that skill. If Firemaking became a part of Crafting, I think you'd find many more people becoming high level Crafters for that reason.
  22. Why is everything about money for people? It sounds clicḫ̩̉̉, but money isn't the only thing in the game. Why do I have a dragon med and dragon square? Is it because they are cheap? No! It's because they are awesome to have, and they look great. You people are far too money hungry, and it shows by the way you are typing even. Did you seriously spell "who" "hu?" You can't tell me that's to "type faster," because (no, not becuz) it's not! You want money like I want literacy in this game, but the sad part is: Jagex can't help you with either of those.
  23. No, he just wasn't paying attention and died to a random event.
  24. This is why people go to school, because there's generally an Economics class. The reason prices go down on rares is because less people want to buy them. If less people want to buy them, there's more competition amongst the sellers, which makes them decrease their prices to a point where a buyer is willing to purchase the seller's item and not from the seller's competition. This drives prices down on a wholesome level, meaning that prices across the board drop, because people can, and will, find the cheapest prices. An economy is more than the amount of items in the market at any given time. Economics is the relationship between quantity demanded, and quantity supplied. If you plot these two variables on a graph, the slope of that graph represents the price at which people are willing to pay for the goods. The study of Economics is an art, not something to be laughed at.
  25. Oh, like you haven't spammed at all in your runescape life? I've never agreed to the idea of permanent mutes. Now I can see if someone does a severe rule-breaking ingame in front of a moderator they should deserve a mute, but temporary just seems too harsh. What I'm saying is, with the temporary one you can learn from your mistakes during your punishment period and never do it again. But with permanent mutes, jagex doesn't give you a second chance. Take this thread starter(I can't find your name :| , sorry) for instance, he's obviously learned from his mistakes and will probably never do it again, but he will never get that chance. Muted people deserve second chances. I do not agree, though, that jagex viewed this as "raising the punishments." To them it was just another update. In other words, I don't think jagex made this update to increase the punishment, it was simply an update that had been suggested many times by players and need to be added in this year(according to jagex's promise in early 2007 following the clan riot). I'm unsure if you are suggesting this though, I could be wrong. Oh and to all the rest of you who keep insulting the thread starter- try to show some respect. Obviously he has learned from his mistakes, that's a big thing to do, surely he deserves some sympathy for that. I do not think he appreciates these negative comments. No, I have not spammed at all. My record is completely clean, whereas the OP has TWO black-marks, so obviously he didn't learn from his first time being reported. And besides, how do you know he learned from his "mistakes?" He has been muted, there's been no chance to prove that he has, but there is the proof that he hasn't learned (a la his two black-marks). He knowingly broke the rules, even after he had been given a WARNING (the first black mark), so he deserves, and receives NO sympathy from me.
