Teen Technology
Nowadays pretty much every teenager has the recent technology. The most popular is obviously computers, and the internet. I am doing an essay on this and I thaught I would throw around some ideas for discussion. The internet is used for things like 'sharing tips' about anorexia and bulimia http://www.news-medical.net/?id=21194 The internet is a huge reason why almost nobody takes the bible literally any more. Most people have the access to websites giving scientific facts about how the earth can't be 6000 years old etc. Most of todays youth know computer well, thanks to hours spent playing around with them. Perhaps teens are getting smarter, though social skills are suffering? A point I mentioned above, youth are getting smarter. Well actually its like the world economy: the smart are getting smarter and the dumb are getting dumber. Playing around with, fixing and customising computers develop problem solving skills among others. The internet is full of knowledge, it just takes an intelligent person to seperate the rubbish with the credible sites. Todays technology, and smarter teens leads to more cheating in school. For example ipod nanos are tiny and easily conceiled, and text files can be read from them. Youth obesity has been increasing lately, most teenagers do not do regular excercise, instead going on the computer. I as an athlete have noticed this, I know very few people who are both fit and spent lots of time on the internet. Todays technology can get youth into trouble, students using their knowledge of technology, and their lust for 'beating the system' for things as small as getting into their schools server and vandalising the website to attacks on a larger scale such as getting into confidential information or stealing money. I would also like to point out that I hate myspace, bebo etc. I think it's a waste of time, and only other myspace [bleep] give a crap about who posted what on whose myspace. Its not as bad in australia, but apparently in america its a huge topic for discussion. "Z0mg mary posted on petes myspace that he has a big nose, lets go make ourselves throw up to get skinny" If anybody here who is intelligent uses myspace/bebo I would love to hear your point of view on it.

Autoer/macroer discussion- please post here!
That was my theory at first. When classic was still alive, and full of macroers, Not many people cheated in rs2, because the cheaters were rsc vets and stayed there. When jagex made classic members only they had a good system: Keep most of the cheaters in classic, let them use it as a sandbox to cheat in, while still raking in the money. Thus leaving rs2 - their main focus with much much less cheaters. When Jagex killed classic that was when cheating in rs2 erupted. Their new game is being ruined because they won't let people play their old one.

The bible
You obviously didn't read my post properly. I believe I mentioned that there in fact was a man called jesus, and he did in fact tell people he was the son of god. Whats your point? Im assuming that your theory is that if it was proven he said he was the son of god, then of course he must have been then, why would somebody named jesus lie about something like that? If I were to tell you that I am the son of god, telling people 'his word' and 'freeing people from their sins' and I truely believed that, I would get probably get diagnosed with a mental disorder. Of course thats nothing like what jesus did. Oh wait. Typical christian answer. Can't explain something so you resort to the overused "god is all powerful and can do anything" argument.

The bible
100% sure? Too bad the bible was started about 4400 years ago, and was finished around 15 years ago. http://www.carm.org/bible/biblewhen.htm Perhaps the morals in the bible were based on the laws back then? They seem to fit together so well. We just have different morals today then they did back then.
-
The bible
Hmm, were almost in the same mind. We both agree the actual stories themselves aren't true, contrary to a large but decreasing amount of people's belief. Though the meanings and "moral values" are true. I agree though I made a point that since the bible was written so long ago, that perhaps it is getting outdated, as morals and culture is a lot different now. Although the basic values of life, such as respecting fellow man etc will still remain. They weren't disregarding morals, they just had different morals back then. Just as 5000 years from now, people will have different morals than what we have today.

The bible
They may not be technically morals, but people then believed them to be morally right. Otherwise they would not have followed them. Apparently not, but back then you did. Everything in the bible was taken literally, if you disagreed you were put to death. Nowadays, science is finding flaws in the bibles "facts," thats why its not taken so literally anymore, and the term "christian" is a lot more relaxed. It is a current god, but its not new. I mean a new set of morals, beliefs etc made into a religion. I don't see why not having a volcano god makes your point, but: Christianity still tried to fill in the hole about how the universe was made and how we came to be. Close but not quite. Cultural/government laws are set for what the government THINKS is for the good of society. Not what is. Like back then, they thaught that women being treated badly was right for society. In the future, morals will change, perhaps people will look upon our generation and think we are barbaric for putting people in jail. Jesus said that hell was a real place. Make sure the milk is cold too.

The bible
I am talking about the basic opinion of most christians, it seems like you are christian to a certain extent. But when someone said "5 generations ago" people did not automatically think "Thats 200 years ago" Yep, great guidence. http://home.earthlink.net/~owl233/biblequotes.htm What do you mean by "real" christian. A "real christian" is someone who takes everything in the bible to heart. Scientific facts do not diminish morals and meanings, but they do diminish the stories. The christian god can be called modern as it is believed today, but that was not what I was talking about. The bible was started over 3000 years ago. Neither does Ancient Egypt, whats your point? By "they" I was talking about Ancient Egyptions. So your saying that your beliefs are right and other religions are [cabbage]? Cultural rules are based on morals. God said it was morally right to take over a town by force, as long as you asked for surrender first. Jesus said believe or be condemned to hell, today it is not morally right to use your influence and fear to gain supporters. http://www.finalfrontier.org.uk/heavnhel.htm Make em chocolate chip. Um... Are you trying to argue that the sun moves around the earth?

18godzilla: Have a read of this and these: http://www.kent-hovind.com/matson/1proofs2.htm http://www.mukto-mona.com/science/skybr ... _part1.htm Those rebutt everything you just posted. Also, I made a mistake, carbon dating doesn't prove how old the earth is, it just proves it is at least 50000 years old. After that the amounts are too small for todays technology to read. If the world was in fact 6000 years old, it would be able to be proven by dinosaur fossils using carbon dating. The carbon in fossils is gone, so that proves the world is more than 50,000 years old.

The bible
Exactly. If the bible is truely the word of god, why would god lie about something that he made? "Day" has always been a measure of time. The only way it would work out is if their "day" was much much bigger than ours, in fact around 30000 times bigger. Theres no way the stories in the bible would make sense if by "day" they ment 30000 modern days. Give an example please? One less than a few hundred years ago. Did you read the part about some morals being outdated? No, I think documentaries are interesting because It shows their way of life. I used that as an example of a religion used to explain the unexplainable, that was almost abandoned because we have the technology they lacked today. =D> That was my point. It makes religion back then, no different to the religion today. No, they really did think a serpent went through 12 gates and fought a serpent every day. They had an explanation for how the earth came to be, and it is completely different to christians, all religions are different. what makes is the one that is true? I already talked about moral issues, but since it was written so long ago the morals are getting to be outdated. The technicalities im talking about is because the stories in the bible didn't actually happen, but some people think they did. You have missed my point. The only thing I am attacking is the stories in the bible are thaught to have happened. Which looks to be your opinion too. That leaves the bible for morals, I said the morals are getting outdated. All that last sentence concluded was that there is no difference between religions proved wrong, and the ones that people swear by today. Of course they could be real, its extremely improbable, but they could be real. That was not my point. A god carrying the sun across the sky isn't real, that was my point.
-
The bible
Exactly, perhaps the bible is getting outdated. Back then pretty much everybody swore by everything in it. Nowadays, not only do people not believe the stories occured, but some of the morals do not apply in todays world. Maybe christianity is slowly dying, just like every religion has. I wouldn't be surprised if a new religion is going to 'take over' in the next couple hundred years. Small secretive groups have their own religions everywhere, perhaps one will eventually catch on.

The bible
Now when you read this topic, don't get the god in the bible confused, with a higher being. All the bible is, is the christian story of god. If the bible is wrong, there can still be a higher being, but with a different story. Note, this is a thread about the bible: christians story of god. I don't want this to turn into yet another 20 pages of whether there is a god/higher being or not. If anyone posts something like that I will report it, as it is offtopic. Personally I think the bible is flawed for a few reasons. According to the bible, the world is 6000 years old. Yet, it is PROVEN the world is approximately 4.5 billion years old. Fossils, examinations of the earths crust say that the world is billions of years old. Some people with a voice in their head is all the proof it is 6000 years old. Here is another point in which shows the world cannot be 6000 years old: Another point, is dinosaurs. The bible does in fact mention mythological beasts, whether it is talking about dinosaurs or not is irrelivent. It wouldn't make sense if they had big days, as the bible includes sentences such as "he travelled for X days" If in fact, the days back then were big enough to account for the billions of years this earth has been around for, in this 'X days' he would have been dead in the first day. Fossils are billions of 'today's years' old, but apparently the bible is 6000 years old. I explained above about the argument about different sized days cannot be true, so if you believe in the bible, you cannot believe in dinosaurs. Which have been proven, you might as well not believe in gravity. There have been many religions over the centuries. Each religion can be baught down to 2 reasons, one of which is morals. The other reason is to explain what science and technology can't. One example is the ancient egyptions. They did not have the science and technology to know how the sun rose and set, it appeared to them to move across the sky. So they invented a god that moved the sun across the sky. Today we know that is [cabbage], and the Earth revolves around the sun - which is why it appears to move across the sky. We know this because of the science and technology we have today. Lets briefly compare a story of the bible, to a religious story we have today. The sun moving across the sky in ancient egypt, and jesus being the son of god. They both took true facts. There was really a man called jesus who claimed to be the son of god. And the sun does in fact appear to move across the sky. And then turned them into stories to explain what science and technology can't. A god passes through 12 gates, fights a serpent and carries the sun across the sky, and A man called Jesus claimed to be the son of god and performed mericles. (sp) My question: How is the Ancient Egyptions religion, which we all know is rubbish, any different to the stories in the bible? There are in fact still people today who believe in ancient religions, because of faith even though they are wrong, and that is all that christianity is.

Autoer/macroer discussion- please post here!
Its weird that jagex only shuts down legit cheating communities, and leaves scam sites alone. Its almost as if they want to back up their "all cheating sites are scams" and make it actually true. Many cheating sites are completely legal. As long as a community doesn't host any of jagex's code, or state that their program is made for macroing, jagex can't legally do anything. Wong. Jagex ruined essence. There were plenty of ways to slow down the macroing, and jagex did the stupidest one. What about leaving classic to autoers, since most of them did, it would create a 'sandbox' for us to macro, since they were stupid enough to kill classic, the macroers have gone to runescape 2. In doing so they have created a much bigger macro problem, as there are much more people in rs2 catching on.

Camo really rare now?
Why do people keep bumping this topic? We have already established that they aren't rare, and nobody cares about who has camo and who doesn't. Just let the thread die.

9/11 Commision LIES
I recently watched fahrenheit 9/11 by Micheal Moore and it raises some really good points about bush, 9/11 and the Iraq war. If anyone is interested in 9/11 and hasn't seen it already its worth watching. I believe there is also a book.

Your not even installing it, just booting up from it. Its from the cd so no files are put on your computer :wall:- Please help! My PC is Dead
All you need to do is make sure your computer looks in your cd rom when it boots up via the bios, start the computer with the cd in and choose boot from cd. You can do pretty much anything that you could do normally with windows, except run [Caution: ExecutableFile] files. http://www.linspire.com- The language censor and banning.
It really comes down to 2 points: Jagex likes money, and the average mental age of the population of runescape is around 10. If you think putting up with random "**** you noob", "shut up you ****ing noob"'s all day is irritating, then imagine what runescape would be like if jagex wasn't so strict about swearing. With the mature players, it would be no problem, but sadly there aren't too many mature players. Also, most parents do not want their children subjected to swearing. If runescape had swearing in it, jagex could lose customers due to parents not wanting their kids playing a game full of immature kids that has no swearing censorship.- Please help! My PC is Dead
Have you tried booting it up with a linux type os? You don't need to install anything, you can access all your files, back them up and format.- Autoer/macroer discussion- please post here!
^^ I agree with you to a certain extent. I do not like the cheaters who leech their macro's and abuse them to earn pixils. But I do not see what it wrong with macroing done by people only doing it to 'beat the system.' They often do not play runescape much if at all, make their own bots, don't abuse them and give away/never use the pixils they gain. - Please help! My PC is Dead
