It means you can no longer exchange it for 38,000,000 of the monetary units assigned to the item, otherwise known as MONEY, and otherwise known as a LOSS. Translation: You lost money.

Yep, that's basically how it is. Here's an example, from a 3 man trip a while ago with SirHemen and Pigunmaiden. I started off with the usual, a couple of sara brews\plenty of super restores\some purple sweets, diamond bolts w\ range equipment, 20 BTP tabs, and 3 unicorn pouches + scrolls. I used my method of walking\running to remain at 80%+ energy without any purple sweets eaten, so I didn't touch them. We were at 55 kills before SirHemen ran out of brews (with a terrorbird instead of unicorn), and shortly afterward Pigunmaiden ran out also (again, terrorbird instead of unicorn). The end results of the trip: Total sara brews drank: 0 Total super restore doses drank: 1, to restore summoning enough for the 2nd unicorn Total BTP tabs used: 0 Total restores used: 0 That basically sums it up. I was a bit rusty, was getting hit a lot in the beginning, almost above what pony could handle. After I settled down a bit, I almost always had a full scroll, and never dropped below 70 energy or 80 HP. Very low risk, and the scrolls are cheaper then monkfish. This was for a 3 man, including me trip. Just one example of Unicorn Power®.

So, for example, if you do slayer to get 99 range, it will take approx. 5 times as long as avansies\chins. If you range yaks, currently the 2nd fastest alternative, it will take roughly 3 times as long as avansies\chins. However, if you enjoy a method like pest control, it may be worth it taking 3.5 times as long over avansies\chins.

Cost and value are the same thing in RS. An item's value is determined by the amount of GP\money attached to it, irregardless of the money you bought it for. Therefore, if that items value goes down, you have lost money. It does not matter how much you have earned with it. Then why spam up this thread with worthless posts?

No, but I'm not sure how to make this more clear. 1. You spend 40m on a whip. 2. Whips drop to 2m. 3. You sell your whip for 2m, because that's its current monetary value. You have 38m less than before. 4. You repurchase your whip for 2m. You've lost nothing, as you haven't spent any additional money, and you still own your whip. This is assuming you'd sell your whip in the first place, but I can't imagine why anybody would want to. You did loose something. Your whip is worth less. If you would have waited, and bought for 5m in stead of 40m, you'd have 35m more. I know where you are getting to , but you are wrong. But if it takes a month or so to drop you are without a whip for a month. This rant is all about people saying "Wow d sq dropped 1m in the few years I should rant about it" when it is a minor droppage and you didnt have a d sq in all thoes years. I bet if you are skilled enough you could make an extra 35m in the 2 years whips were dropping if you only bought them an extra 35m. What does that have anything to do with you losing money on the item? The value of the item has gone down, you have lost money because of it. That has nothing whatsoever to do with how much you've earned with the item :|

That's not correct. Money is defined as "The most common medium of exchange; functions as legal tender". In this case, it's GP. So if GP goes down, money has gone. Right? Losing is defined as "No longer in your possession or control". So we no longer have as many GP, resulting in GP being lost. Feel free to argue either of those two points, but stick to them. By the definition of money, GP is money; when the number of GP (money) assigned to an item by the RS community goes down, the money is no longer in your possession and by the definition, it has been lost.

Then you got unlucky and your internet crapped out at the wrong time. I've had Jagex's servers lag ~3 times in my years of playing RS. The only time it's Jagex's fault is when the game freezes then unfreezes and everyone around you (and friends PM you) "ugh lag". Those times when you DC? Your fault.

Like it or not, it's your computer or internet connection, or (very unlikely) somewhere between you and Jagex servers. Get a new computer or ISP. I'll retell the story for the 14th time :P I use Comcast Cable over Gigabit Ethernet on a high end gaming desktop\laptop. I never lag. Ever. On any server. And I've been on them all. It's not Jagex's fault.

DKS and GWD will be massively changed. You'll be able to get 3x the kills with 3 man sara team, and camp with a 4 man as long as your pouches last. Armadyl with any 3+ team will be far longer, 4+ almost infinite. Bandos will be 15+ hours, 10+ as tank. Not sure about zamorak. I haven't personally done TD, but I've heard that a uni is unbelievably helpful for camping trips, especially with the new update. DKS will be enormously longer, with 10-12 hour trips (posted on these forums before) possible. Virtually all monsters can be camped, and places like Avansies will be revolutionized when you realize you can concentrate solely on offensive power - wearing void and an unholy book without worrying about getting hit. Anywhere you train that a bunyip can't keep up with will be accessible for long camping trips. Places like Clan Wars, Fight Pits, and Duel tournaments will become easy - it's virtually impossible to lose a 1 v 1 game in the fight pits with a pony, and I've never lost a duel tournament with summon on\food off, simply because I had 100+ HP advantage over everyone else.

What is something worth? I already addressed that. Just like in the real world, a specific items' monetary value is usually set - even more so in the RS world, where every item can be bought and sold on the GE. If I can sell\buy a whip at 1.45m, that's what that item is worth. Period. That's how many coins I can redeem for it; it's the value assigned by the RS community as a whole. If they decide it isn't worth that much, and the monetary value of it goes down, I have lost value, or money.

I have a bad habit of saying zombie monkies when I mean armored zombies. I always mean armored zombies during debates, except for the following section: [ZOMBIE MONKIES, FROM MY OP} The point my original post made was that zombie monkies were more combat XP then slayer, making them better for training combat - which they still are [/ZOMBIE MONKIES} I can, but the ~1.5 minutes I'm away from my computer, on most tasks, are little to no XP (i.e. gargoyles). Same goes for short term distractions - as long as i prioritize recharging prayer, I'm experiencing essentially 0 loss of XP. With slayer, even a 10 second switch to an AIM window results in a significant loss of XP. XP rates drop fast as attention does; I see a large boost from just turning off private chat (which I do during any testing situation). I'm comparing XP to methods outside of slayer, not inside of slayer, with range and melee completely separate - range XP is much easier to get then melee XP outside of slayer; therefore, if your getting less overall XP ranging, it's going to look worse in comparison to a non-slayer method then melee would. I don't know too much about Aussie ISPs, but I would find 15gb unbelievably restrictive. I've used more then 15gb accidentally leaving uTorrent running overnight :wall:

How soon you tell the game to get the ore, however, is entirely up to you. A level 99 will almost always outmine a level 70 at the same click time, but if you have a high latency internet connection or react slowly, you'll get beat more often. It could use more tweaking so that higher levels have more of an advantage, though.

You are only thinking of value in monetary terms. And that is all the value that is attached to an item in RS. A whip has a single value - a monetary one. Irregardless of how much you have used it, how you got it, or how much you trained it.
