Investigating the Wise Old Man
Okay, here's what it looks like we have. Location: Water Rune Altar near Draynor (inside the actual altar, not next to it.) Time: 1 hour before the next TipIt event. (I'll keep a log of our conversations). World: 7 If anyone has any objections, feel free to voice them and we'll work them out as a group. For the most part, this sounds very good. Should I edit the first post so everyone knows what's going on?

Why is that a big deal? Search my name in this forum and you're likely to find some interesting tidbits.

Investigating the Wise Old Man
Okay, I've missed a lot since being on last. The discussion group sounds like a good idea. A nice open convesation sure beats posting on here and then waiting for replies. Let's decide on a few things. 1. Location. In order for me to attend this is going to have to be someplace pretty out-of-the-way. (Meeting in a frequented area will attract tons of people asking me about the little silver crown next to my name :P ) WOM's house is too close to the Draynor bank and people often go upstairs. I've got an idea; how about the Water Rune altar? It's pretty close to Draynor, not a high-traffic area, all you need is a water talisman or tiara, but if you have any better ideas, share them! 2. Time. 1 hour before TET events sounds like a good idea, unless anyone would like a different day or time. We can record what we say and then post it on this thread after the meeting, so anyone who misses it can recap easily and be prepared for the next one. I can be the one to record if nobody else wants to. 3. Organization. Yes, spam is bad. Keeping it down to a few people would be necessary. I'm not usually one for structure, but if you would think it's a good idea to have some form of leadership to keep us on track, I think we should keep it democratic and vote for whomever wants the mantle of responsibilty. We could probably make some guidelines for meeting etiquette, if we see it necessary. 4. Uniform. Why not? Something that everyone has access to. Of course, it would have to be completely optional. Anything else? EDIT: Almost forgot: This will have to be on a temporary basis, someone said already. If it works, great. If not, we'll forget about it. EDIT (again): 5. Home World. Uhh...that's a matter of logistics, I think.

Shower or bath?
Baths are awkward. Kind of like being in the little tiny kids' pool at the swimming pool.

Investigating the Wise Old Man
What is up with that? No other fansites or the official forums had anything resembling a penguin idea. If Jagex didn't think of that themselves, then they must have got it from here. That's creepy. Really creepy. :uhh: Anyway, just because that's what WOM's intentions are doesn't make him unstoppable. That's the idea behind the quest, to stop WOM before he does something that could destroy Runescape. It's perfectly plausible.

My sarcasm meter is a-jumping off the scale. Harmful radiation like this can mutate DNA strands, you know.

Funny warning/notice labels
I once saw a cigarette ad on TV that said "One in three people who take up smoking will eventually die." Makes me wonder what the other two did to get immortality.

Most Disgusting Smells. and favorite smells.
Pure oxygen. I once had to wear an oxygen mask in a hospital, and it smelled so pure. It was really quite relaxing.

Would you personally like to join the NATO?
At least economically, Russia should. It would stabilise the economy and make some sense out of inflation. It bugs me that Russia is constantly getting ignored while Turkey is still under consideration.

D©j vu. Have you experienced it?
Deja vu and its similar feelings is just a small delay in the transmitting of information between neurons in your brain. A "lag" as it were.

Runescape mock elections- choose your candidate
Wait, I want to change my vote. Drunken Dwarf FTW. He's the ultimate leader. His state of perpetual inebriation makes him impervious to logic so he will always prevail in arguments. He's not afraid of anything because he's constantly drunk, allowing him to charge fearlessly into battle with no worry for his own safety. He knows what you're doing at all times because he can randomly appear when it's least convenient for you. And he's really annoying, so we would all have to submit to his will, no matter how silly it is. \

Area 51 (Alien Land Discussion)
I've seen a UFO. It was very eerie. But that's beside the point. From what we know today Groom Lake AFB is a test center for aircraft. There is also a dumping site for radioactive waste in the area. Some former employees have died because of radiation poisoning.

I'm glad I coined the term 'WOM'. Anyway, I vote for Oracle because...he's...something.

That doesn't seem too relevant to WOM's activities...I think as soon as they get the glitch fixed WOM and Schism won't be there anymore.

Investigating the Wise Old Man
I just thought of something I don't think we've considered yet: What if WOM is trying to become a god? Zamorak was a human once, and he overthrew Zaros and became the new god of evil and other stuff. He had a tribe of devotees backing him up (Mahjarrat), and he had a special circumstance propel him into godhood (god war). Hmm. Maybe that's where WOM's jealousy stems from, the fact that Zamorak was a normal person and got to be a god. Think about it; he's got this seminary thing that apparently he's in control of, and a Council that we've never heard of that he's a part of. Hmm, this is very good... We know he's probably in control of this thing called the Seminary based on the way his letter was worded, and we also know he's a member of this 'Council' of something that we're not sure of. I don't think he's in charge of the Council itself, but is more like a prominent member. He had his Seminarians do something in the Lumbridge graveyard that intimidated Father Aereck apparently. Aereck is probably a member of the Council, and WOM sent in his Seminary to rough up Aereck in order to gain support for himself. Strong-arming and secret police-style tactics like this have always been used when someone wants more power than they have. Look at Father Lawrence, too. By threatening Lawrence the way he did in the letter, he's probably blackmailing him to throw his support to WOM's side. The Oracle letter sticks out, too. WOM sounds a lot like he's "kindly ordering" the Oracle to change his clue. I don't know how many of you have worked in a corporate-style environment, but something like this in the corporate world usually means that a scheming middle manager is getting ready for a power-grab. If WOM can gain support of the Council, he could be the equivalent of Zamorak being the leader of the Mahjarrat just before the God War. All he need now is that: Another god war to propel him into godhood. But how would WOM trigger another god war by himself? One way is that he attacks the Wizard's Tower, destroys it, and blames Zamorakians. Destroying the Wizard's Tower would also destroy Opus Saradomin, obviously. This would put Saradominists in a rage, so much so that they could start a, for lack of a better term, genocide against Zamorakians. Something like this would cause Zamorak to intervene himself to protect his followers, breaking the truce signed at the end of the first god war. Then Saradomin would intervene, probably resurrecting Zaros to help fight Zamorak. And God War II would ensue. But how would he use this to make himself a god? Well, let's look back to the letters he wrote. He wrote one to Thurgo, maker of that knight's sword. It would be easy for WOM to employ Thurgo for making a bunch of high-quality weapons. Look at the letter to Reldo. It was concered with a method to "revolutionise" smithing. All WOM would need is to employ Thurgo to work with this revolutionary new smithing method in order to produce enough weapons for an army. But where would he get an army? Summoning, of course! By summoning a massive fighting force and arming them all with Thurgo's high quality weapons, He would be unstoppable. With all of this power, WOM could easily gain the approval of Saradomin to be the second-in-command of Saradomin's forces. WOM could make a massive army and overpower Zamorak (and Zaros if needed) and could use his extraordinary mage powers to do most of the work himself. After Zamorak and Zaros are defeated, Saradomin would no doubt give WOM godhood as a reward for doing such a good job. This is where I see a new quest from Jagex, something really difficult where you have to foil WOM's plan at the last minute and expose his nefarious deeds. After the quest, WOM would be forgiven and would be allowed to live on in Draynor helping people the way he used to, and would be a "nice guy" from then on. :D Whew...that was a LOT of thinking...sorry for the really long post.

Zero. I went over that.

5th february - 49 years and a nuclear weapon still lost
I'm going to call BS. 30 billion US dollars in post-Soviet Ukraine would have been enough to buy 450-500 tanks, 22-25 top-end MiG fighters, and enough rifles for a small army. If you include 'nuclear missiles' in that shopping list, the world would be in a state of chaos trying to locate them. Barihawk's right, the Russian Federation kept the same administrative routine as before the collapse, but while there weren't really any 'missile heads', missile launch and storage sites got more and more internal security personnel watching over them because of fears of destabilisation of the country. Still today they are under very strict supervision, mainly because of various fringe groups.

Hey, now that's actually a really good idea...shrunken Kalphite? Members always say the thing looks like one. If we could have a member get on this we might be able to answer a lot of questions. Let me re-check the original map from a year ago... Looks like it. A line also goes through the new penguin iceberg place.
