You made me realise I'm screwed when I want to drive, because I only know Metric. #-o It's not a language, it's extremely simple to learn another system. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Imperial_system Skim that and you'll know it.

So the population [bleep]es even more and overpopulation becomes a bigger issue than it already is? The same goes for ending disease and war. These things are necessary.

I agree completely, that's what our species started out doing, and it worked fine. The world population would probably be about 500,000 at this point if agriculture had never been invented.

All of my shirts are my brother's old ones, and I'm not even sure where I got my trousers from. It seems like I've always had them. For clothes that aren't shirts/trousers/underwear I shop at salvation army. It's extremely cheap, and they have surprisingly nice clothes, plus an enormous selection. By the way, why does not liking wal-mart mean you are materialistic? I always though of wal-mart as the biggest consumerism/materialism corporation there is.

I was just arguing against you saying the US is not a democracy.

Apparently you, fortunately, live in an area that does not have street gangs. Do some research before making assumptions, on a per-capita basis Ireland is the most violent country in western Europe, 2 years ago there were more gang related deaths in Dublin than there was in London, take into account London is 13 times the size of Dublin and renowned for it's knife crime. Vast areas of Dublin now are being indirectly controlled by drugs and the ganglords running the drug gangs. And yes, I do feel if my life or anothers was at risk from criminals I would be able to shoot. I believe you, but when I was in Dublin I walked around quite a bit at night (probably not the smartest thing to do), and it seemed pretty peaceful to me. Maybe only locals get attacked, eh?

that was a called for and inventive way to attack the US for no reason. Lol, i don't mean to side track the topic by bringing this up, but dude I wasn't attacking the US, I live in Wisconsin. I was just referring to the point that no democracy has every declared war on another democracy, ever. This international rule of thumb line kinda got blurred when the US attacked Iraq while Iraq claimed to be a democracy. Hence, to sidestep getting in this very argument #-o I put a "lets ignore the US for sake of argument" into my post since I was trying to stay focused on India. It wasn't a slight to the US. Anyway... Lol wut The US isn't a democracy anyway; it's a constitutional republic. A democracy is a form of government in which the supreme power is vested in the people and exercised directly by them or by their elected agents under a free electoral system [Source] Your wikipedia knowledge is wrong.

I just found it extremely annoying. It did not make me laugh.

It snowed here today. I was sitting comfortable inside, however.

I like it, especially the part about utilitarian morals.

Last day of school before spring break today. Nine days of doing absolutely nothing. It's going to be great.

NASA's prediction for a moon colony is very far off, as is the Mars mission. We won't be living on other planets for a while. This problem is why I don't like the emphasis that is put on life in western culture. I don't think more people should die, or want to kill people, but when I hear of people fighting so hard for a cause to save a few lives, it just annoys me. They are fighting for 1. Their own happiness, as helping others feel better makes you feel better, and 2. Other people's happiness, while in the long run, they are making the problem of overpopulation worse. I hate to quote Star Trek (just kidding, I love to), but the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few.

Small actions can cause large wars. Remember WW1? That was basically started when Austria-Hungary declared war on Serbia, because a Serbian killed their archduke. If a North Korean were to somehow assassinate Obama, or any high ranking politician in the US, you can bet there would be a huge public outcry for war. The US has a history of overreacting to things, and declaring war. I'm not saying I agree that North Korea will start a war, but it's a concept that is possible.

When conversation dies down in a room, and within a few seconds someone says "Oh my god it got so quiet in here!". I don't see why people have to be constantly talking.

I think it stems from christian beliefs that it isn't your body to kill, and every life is sacred. It might also be based on our culture, where you are supposed to live your life in ways that pleases others, and always be thinking about other people's happiness and feelings.

http://www.cnn.com/2009/WORLD/asiapcf/0 ... index.html I'm not sure how interesting any of you consider this, I was just wondering your opinions in general about North Korea, or their intentions. My main fear is that the United States will overreact to this, and create more trouble than there already is. Obama isn't god, but I think he'll be passive. It's not good, but tbh N korea can't support itself. I separated your quote from mine, you had just edited your message into mine, without an edit mark.

I don't see how a small amount of people posting bad topics means that the whole forum has gone bad. It's not like there's a peer review process for posting topics.

North Korea has the fourth largest army in the world, and the second an army moves in on North Korea, Seoul(25 or so million people) gets flattened by NK artillery. Remember the Korean War? They have the fourth largest army, not the fourth best army. While size of army may not always equal military strength, it sure helps...

Nice weather. You're damn right it is, snow is the best kind of weather there is. *points to signature*

School was canceled due to snow today. It was 60 degrees last week.

Generally if you get sent a URL by a random person you don't know, don't go to it.

I remember the ACT being mostly geometry, with a little simple algebra in it. Does anyone remember what they had to write their SAT essay about?
