  1. I can just feel that teen angst from here. Anarcy alive! Leik! OMGZ! I don't know what anarchy meenz.. but it sounds cool and i like no im cool soz it workz like that! Yeh! I feel any religious or political signatures shouldn't be allowed. The main reason is to grab attention most likely by pissing people off - if you want to grab attention, do it with your skills.. not some gimmic.
  2. The vibrancy is I think what makes the original so great. Without it, it's a rather garden tool-hum dime-a-dozen naturescape. The ripples give it a great stylized unique original cool *insert more adjectives* feel to it .. Sorry Keiph, I have to agree with GSW on this. :P I like it, Usagi. Me wants to see more.
  3. No.. NEVER! I SHALL DEFEAT YOU ALL! BWAHAHAA.. wait, screw that - im too lazy. You are vaguely right, though, im only good at digital paintings now. I even suck at making signatures - too damned small. ToT
  4. I think i'll just watch from a distance. Nobody knows who I am now, anyways. XP I think I like it that way.
  5. It's the attention he wants, and it's the attention he gets. Alex is fine from my view point; he's just alittle cocky. Everybody wants to be loved, afterall, Alex just needs more teh lubb than most. <3 Come over here and sit on my lap, baby. I'll give you a big suprise.
  6. I left Huang out for a reason; the majority of his art looks the same. Smileys, space, .. space.. smileys.. random minimalistic.. then more smileys and space. If he wasn't to win with me, he needs to mark up the diversity. XP Sticking to what hes good at is best.. and hes good at minimalistic. Smileys are only a branch of minimalistic and space.. well.. trying to mix minimalistic and the complexities of space is going to be hard for anyone.. he just needs to go back to his roots.
  7. No need for thanks. XP You're the one who earned that opinion in the first place. ------ Okay, okay, i'll post the ones I remember from RSC too. FireFreek: A graphic artist I have pretty much watched grow up. I can say that about alot of people but I remember a certain tutorial of 'his' on RSC that everyone seemed to love. ( :wink: ) I can't say much about him now because I got to where I hated RSC and purpously pushed a mod over the edge to get banned.. but as a person he was decent though perhaps alittle cocky. XP As an artist he has pretty much stuck to trend.. which I don't find much impressive anymore... but more recently he started with realism and digital painting.. and showed quite amazing talent with it. So much so that I find him one of the top artists on the RuneScape scene. Tekton: Mine master and eternal gay lover. Hes someone who has practically watched me grow up as a digital artist. I can't say much except he is a lazy [wagon] and fun to talk to. :3 If he wasn't at RSC I seriously doubt the graphic interest there would be all that much.. hell, I might not have even been a digital artist if it wasn't for him. As an artist I don't really know what to say.. like me, he is lazy, and doesn't really do anything... or atleast show much. From what I have seen he is definatly on the realism scale and is very good at digital painting.. however he is awesome at vector,
  8. Hee. Can I post? The people I post are my favorites on this board.. oh, and don't worry if you aren't listed.. I still love you! <3 Witty: Probably my favorite person on the boards.. Witty holds nothing back when pointing out things in art he dislikes.. which is good. You can't just go out and tell people you like what they do if you don't.. I mean.. look at poor Ashley Simpson.. some idiot told that poor girl she had talent and look what happened! As an artists, Witty is fixed mainly on traditional, sketch, and realism.. all of which I like. Decent at what he does, as well. He has a good eye for proportions. Keiphus: Since he got that job, it seems hes been abit more condescending and cocky, but he has enough skills to back it up; especially when in relative context to this board. He seeked professionalism as an artist.. which he gained.. and I can greatly respect that. On these boards he often shows real work and is very accepting of critique as well as good at giving it out. As an artist he used to be fixated on trend.. however now as a person of proffesionalism he tends to go more torward serious realms as modeling and realism. He isn't afraid to broaden his field and is always looking for improvment... which is a very good thing as an artist. Tttia: Ah.. the man everybody firstly mistakes as a woman. X'D Okay, on serious terms.. Tttia is one of the best assets to this forum as he is constantly trying to help people and make this place more active. Infact.. im not so sure why Tttia isn't a local mod of this forum.. I always thought that it was because perhaps he refuses mod positions or somewhat. As an artist, Tttia shares alot of the same interests that I do; realism. Though I can't exactly say Tttia is great... he commits to it. You can't buy a book that is completely based on clothing folds and not be committed to art. XP His art style over time has changed from cartoony to more and more realistic. I imagine the great focus on art he has is partially attributed to his wife is very good in a traditional medium as far as I can see. Although his progress is slower, it is certainly steady, and if kept up will probably be one of those 'OMFG' artist on devart someday or something. :3 As you can see, these three people I have chosen are those who take art seriously. Skill doesn't count for everything.. without the proper look on things you will never get anywhere.. and I see great things for this people who are both skilled and committed to art. I salute you, sirs. *Salute* EDIT: Ah, and excuse the grammar/spelling. 1) I don't care anymore. 2) Im too breat down right now to see the screen.. so im basically typing blind.
  9. Im hoping that, with the prize sum being so large, the contest will be a decent amount longer than the usuals, right? It takes some people a while to come out of their cracks. ^^;
  10. *[wagon] falls off from laughing so much* Over 90% of this board downloads pirated software.. and everybody knows it. Listening to same PATHETIC and IGNORANT stories over and over again is one of the many internet hells i've experienced online. 'Mi ant sed tehy had 2 meny copyz ov PhootShop CS so she gaiv me 1 4 free!!1! Yay!?!?!//1?!' 'OMFFG!!1 WTF! It sayz 'serial expired'. I GOT IT LEGALLY I SWEAR! Giv me ur serial plz!!' 'O, mi ant uh got me a new copyz cuz dat uther 1 was broken. I think a viruz infected teh CD!' 'Ahhhh!!11 help;z! mi shourtkut keyz wont werk!!!1' Or "I have a job, so I was able to afford Maya, Photoshop and Illustrator! Wewt! Too bad those tablet are too expensive. =[" As long as someone doesn't make profit with their pirated software - I don't care, and I seriously doubt the companies care about it.. if they did, don't you think they would put better security on their software than most current games? :roll: Hope you liked my beef, I gotsa lot more but it's abit above grade for this BBQ.
  11. *crosses fingers* I really do hope this board gets a helping hand; I miss hanging out here... sorta. More of a nostalgia thing.. oh.. I HATE YOU ALL!!!111 :wink:
  12. Even I might enter it this time despite my inactivity here. Large monetary gain usually brings out more people and better quality. No half-assing. XP Well.. except for those of us, like me, who litterally haven't logged into RS for over a year, and havent played for two. ^.<; Though, I do warn, most of my stuff is digital paintings. I don't do that ran'gen 3d crap anymore. ^^; Since you seem to like vector as well, I might give that angle a shot too. If, that is, im not busy with my studies here.
  13. That is exactly the reason why all should be allowed in. A place to where the artistically-illitterate can learn to better themselves. The very reason the last board failed was due to the fact that it wasn't public-open. Even in the end, when the reqs were lax, nobody bothered to enter. It was basically just a hang out for the more serious artists here.. which doesn't make much sense. The point of this should be to better others, as well as ourselves; to improve the overall quality of art on Tipper. If we ignore the people who need the most help, what would we have accomplished...? If this is going to turn out as another 'guild', I don't want to be part of it. I don't differentiate myself from others so openly to better my appearance. If you guys want a place to hang out, im sure you could have a clan board erected for you. I, prefer however, to teach and learn. After all, isn't that one of the main things that we, as a race, do? No, Azv, im not kicking you. XP. You've just been a conveniently unfortunate match to my bottle-rocket preachings. ^^;
  14. Pen Tool? If I were you, and I was considering vector as a path I might take, i'd be sure to get Adobe Illustrator. Trust me, Photoshop isn't exactly something you want to vector with; Illustrator was made for it. Vector shading? ^^; Alot of vector doesn't have shading. If it does, it's often restricted to solid shapes of color, otherwise you often would have to raster your image. Thats why I say Illustrator.. gradient mesh! :P
  15. Sounds fine. I still, however, feel that the main conveyance of the board should be the exchange of knowledge. Why? Because otherwise you'll have 30 topics concerning 3000*1000 "wallpapers" that were made in 10 minutes by someone whos main goal in art is.. 'Make it reeeaal shiny!', whom will most likely get pissed at you if you even offer friendly advice because, god knows, their art is "Om1gawdly el33t!!!11". I believe it would probably be best to leave "showing off" in exclusive threads, unless you're asking for advice or conveying a point. A place to share knowledge, and learn about art. A place where it doesn't matter if you hate the current style of art floating around the board, you'll still be treated as a fellow artist. ( :lol: ) A new home completely devoid of people who think merging random layers of random stuff with random layer styles is an art. It'd be hard to achieve, but worth it.
  16. It's not simple enough. XP Simplicity, or in other words, minimalistic art is an actual style of art as opposed to an art description. The funny thing about simplicity is that it doesn't have to be simplistic at all. Infact, simplicity can be more complex than some complex works. ^^; The key in minimalistic is contrast. Contrast in color, contrast in shapes, contrast in angles. The less contrast in a minimalistic piece, or in other words, the 'smoother' it is, the better. The best thing you can do, from a pro standpoint, is to find a way YOU like to present as an artist. Not something your good at. Not something thats easy. Not something that will get you more praise. Just something that will present the most fun for you.. In art, if you aren't enjoying yourself in what you do, then your art will suffer greatly. If you are truly enthusiastic then you will have to study art in any way you go about it.. whether digital painting, vector, traditional. I've never seen anyone pick up a paintbrush, look at a scenery, and paint a brilliant artistic representation. Nobody can simply learn or catch on to more than the basics of art. The people who have set the mold for us had spent their whole lifetime learning about their craft, and most likely had been studying the works and writings of those artists before them to hasten their own study. No longer do we even need 'raw talent', just sheer determination will suffice. Eh, sorry for the preaching. I get carried away like that. ^^;;
  17. Aye, I have those.. though I think mine are on a bit larger scale there. ^^; I mostly make a rough sketch in pen or black 1px brush of any idea I can't convey due to the lack of skill on my part. Not really a sketch.. more of a reminder to myself so I can remember the idea once I can produce it properly. No matter what, if you have such a mindset it's almost always going to be better if you do it yourself..
  18. Yes, you can, but it's not as fun.
  19. Painter is based solely around replicating traditional mediums. I use it sparingly so yes i've done char simulations, but I have to admit I have a weakness when it comes to humans. I just have trouble breaking out proportions easily without a reference. Mostly, however, when doing any digital paintings that aren't emulations I turn to photoshop; it is my native digital medium afterall. When shading I just use large messy blotches of mixed colors and smudge them to where I like them.. adding the sharp reflections and shadows that you find in realism with a 1px brush. Most of my digital paintings don't use but hard-edge circular brushes. Thats me, atleast.
  20. Omigad! Thx for teh nfo!!1 i Didnt no taht YO!!11??/
  21. Aye, I remember ye. If the topic creator would forgive me for being off-topic; free bumps, eh? Anyways.. I haven't taken many art classes myself.. as my first art teacher took the char out of my hand and started adding to MY work. No suggestions. No words. Just *scribble scribble scribble* Last art class I took.. *logs into RS* "Welcome akaron! You haven't logged in for 341 days!" *logs out* Ohh well, left RS a long time ago.. and with the introduction for all of this pixel fad I just resume to hide on Gaia. :P
  22. Aye.. and yet, nay. The true prize in GMs site is his articles explaining certain dynamics of space. Ofcourse there are hundreds of idiots who just follow the instructions.. hell, most of us have done that at one point or another a shame to say, but the true artists will only use the information as a basis for introduction and not for completion.
  23. *dies* As much as I hate to keep handing this out making it easy for people to make hundreds of 'look-alike' space scenes.. it will save my eyes from doom. http://gallery.artofgregmartin.com/tutorials.html
  24. Whee. *attempts to pop the massive inflating ego* Ahh! Too big! :shock: *gets crushed by massive ego* *muffled swears*
  25. The clouds have no depth, at all. Im not really a fan of artwork that has no apparent lightsource, either. Really, the only thing I find decent are the colors.. Keep trying, anyways.
