  1. It doesn't look very practical for what I do.. though it does look schweet. I'll probably keep using regular tablets - even if I get enough for a cintique. I'd much rather put that money into learning/producing traditional painting. Digital Art just isn't as open when it comes to artists who don't like producing for companies. I love art with a passion, but methinks im better off going the real-estate route if I want to get anywhere in life. ^_^;;
  2. If it's anything other than the PS defaults, it was made by the PS defaults (by me, ofcourse). I usually use hard-edge brushes only.. but I used feathered brushes on occasion.

You can get one of the various P2P softwares like BitTorrent or Emule and get "Figure Drawing for All It's Worth" by Andrew Loomis. Normally I wouldn't suggest P2P.. but it's a fairly rare book and being out of print can run it up to 100+USD easily. Otherwise [Probable/Definate Nudity]: http://www.fineart.sk http://www.wetcanvas.com/ArtSchool/Draw ... index.html [Damn, seems someone deleted my Anatomy folder...]
  4. I'd take out that added swordfish, as swordfish in life are.. well, generally as big as a human. In other words, it just horribly screws up your perspective. For your water, reflections on sal[bleep]er are hard to see, so no need to make them, really. To make the water seem deeper you can add purple hues in some deeper areas; you can do that without messing up your 'feel'. That and.. possibly explain to me why one needs a dock when it only goes out inches into the water. To tell the truth, with the calm and clear water it seems like a tropical inlet like you'd find at the florida keys. - you might better pass things off with semi-transparent tropical water shallow enough to see coral and a longer peer to surround yourself with water. It's help your 'lobster' fishing too.
  5. I like the current set limit. I use it even off-site. Lets face it, Tip is slow even without images.. the last thing it needs is some Graphics nub posting a 400*200 MSPaint stick figure that winds up being 80kb. I wouldn't mind the size to be upped to 400*150, but ofcourse thats because I have that 1600*1200 resolution. The 30kb has to stay, though, nomatter what.
  6. I like Illustrator due to mesh gradient, even though im not particularly good at using it. I've always liked the idea of vector for creating a painting base. You can size it up infinitly, if you wished, without losing anything.
  7. Nudity? In pixel art? If it's conveyed in the same cartoony style, then yes, im absolutly sure that would constitute pixel's maturity base.. After all, we all know nudity translates into maturity. Hah. Like a 12 year old would ever look at nudity.. Phah! I know why you stand, and I agree, judging a group by a faction is a nice way to make yourself an idiot.. but find a better way to defend yourself! :? Truth to the matter, most pixel sigs on this forum are childish. Ofcourse.. that generally pretains to about 60% of all non-pixel art on this forum as well. The only way to bring out the childish image is to bring in more realism. Though, ofcourse.. you have to have good skills to do that. Futurama: Tip NEVER had any talented artists. The moment people became talented, they either left, or stopped posting their stuff here. Also, don't tell me that you were speaking of the Abstract Artists. Every abstract posted on this forum were/are usually just a tangled mess of splines or noised up teapots with a little photoshop icing on the top. You know, the type of stuff you do when you suck. I'd rather enjoy carefully mapped out scenes of drawn-artwork before I would look at some crap that was done 75% by a computer. Modeled abstract is good.. but i've never seen it around here. There are some sigs here that "I" am actually impressed with; thats never happened before. You know what? They're all pixel. I guess I just have more in common with pixel than anything else.. after all, it's just like digital painting... with a very tiny opaque brush.
  8. I don't submit anyways... though yeah, I wont. This will be about as effective as a petition being shoved in your face.. which, admittedly, isn't very effective at all. Though the combination of a powerful statement and a powerful attorney could make a difference. The only problem being that this might increase profit. It'd be best to not goto the site that day.
  9. Because the majority of "artwork" *coughs indiscreetly* here are generally confined to small workspaces, thus making pixel the optimal choice to convey ideas without loosing details or personality. If it were a wall, or just some indyart, you would most likely see it painted or modeled. It wont go away.. hopefully it will get better, though.
  10. It wouldn't really change anything. MANY forums openly accept the "ripping" of commercial art, just as long as you don't claim 'X parts' as your own work. This is ESPECIALLY true when the "art" is as miniscule as signature art. The only exception being the ripping of work from another indyartist. Thats a no-no. Well.. then ofcourse there is the other no-no of selling that type of work for monetary gain.. and no, GP doesn't count. Though, I do enjoy seeing people have aneurisms over this subject.. so I guess I should probably just watch.
  11. No kidding. Wait.. was I around back then? Though I do remember putting up some horrible abstracts and actually getting praise for them. Thats kinda why I don't shoot people down sooo hard when they post stuff like this.. even though I don't remember placing a couple tori here, there, and then just rendering it.. but still. To me, it's just a soulless render. You didn't place elements to envoke a sense of beauty, so it doesn't even count as art really.. just a render. If thats what your were going for.. congrats! Now move on to a more advanced program.
  12. It's hard to define? No, it's not. It's actually already done for you: http://dictionary.com The real problem arises when constituting "beauty" itself. Every person has a different view on what is beautiful, so not all art is held in the same reguard by people with different perspectives. Signatures? The problem with your argument is (atleast) 80% of the people who use PhotoShop or any other retail program in here has already broken the rule of copyright. Again, if people sell GP for that "money", they'll be breaking yet another rule of copyright. Anyways, I use anime people in my signatures.. or used to, atleast. My pretty girls, ofcourse, were from DevArt. XP
  13. I've only seen like.. 4 pixel signatures I liked.. and thats because they were highly detailed and followed more torward realism as opposed to the RS "cartoony" style. I appreciate pixel in signatures as it is perfect for minimalistic rendering. Though the general work on here is lackluster and mediocre. Ofcourse.. I don't really like signature anyways.. Too damned small. Renders? People have been changing the meaning of render so much lately that im afraid to use the damned word. Does anybody know what it means? Im still back on it defining something that was generated ("rendered") in a 3d program. Googled pictures? Yeh.. ALOT of people outside of this forum do that. Infact, if it weren't for the pixel boom, a large group would still do it here. Get over it. If someone wants a celebrity or anime picture in their signature, do you expect them to draw them from scratch in a way that accuractly resembles them? I don't.. signatures are signatures, yall', not that important. Naddypoo.. thats a pretty crappy definintion of an artist you have there. :(
  14. I think we should call GS Buffy, no? I think it fits! Otherwise, I guess GS works... but it titn't assexy. Otherwise, it looks alright, but one really shouldn't hold a bong like that.
  15. CAD? It's not a program, it's an acronym. As for "X-CAD", I signed up (9xxxx),.. cuzz.. like.. all the other kids were doin' it. Cha.. Eccentricity =is= Moop

    Brushes

Eh? "Abstract Brushes"? I know a set, and you already have it. It's the basic APS brushset! Just as long as nobody brings any "Tech/Vector" brushes near me. *hiss*
  17. Oekaki animations are a good way to see how others do it if you're shy. I mostly blotch in colors and make vague shapes, then refine, refine, and refine untill im complete. Even though it sounds messy, in digital art it actually tends to turn cleaner as opposed to sketching. Brushes? Since I have a decent tablet I tend to use mostly hard, simple brushes. If I find I need to make an odd texture i'd usually just make a new brush out of the basic APS set and tweak the brush dynamics. 2 Tips ( 1 cent per tip ) 1) Instead of making something serious your first times through, like I -tried-, try making some just out of plain fun.. like making a straberry banana with a BDSM fettish, or making one helluvah funky looking coat-rack. 2) Study your subject. Give it a reason to exist, and explain how it exists through visual representation. This is generally what that "something missing" turns out to be. Total = 2̢̮â¬Å¡Ãââ
  18. Yeah, like (I think) I said (either here or somewhere else). Artistic realism is the culmination of placement. Take several puzzles made out of several square pieces all of the same size and mix them together. To get realism, you must not only find the correct pieces to that puzzle, but you must also place them correctly. This is why I think referenced realism may not be the best at representing the artists talent as a whole, but it is certainly the best at testing the artists technical abilities. Artists have a much harder time than their viewers. All an audience has to do is look and realise something isn't right. Artists have to know what isn't right, and know why it isn't right. Thats why many painters are best at painting things they grew up with as opposed to things completely new to them. I like ya Nad, I want to see you succeed. It's going to be hard to do that with such an inferior tool as Terragen. I know you've heard this before, but stop wasting you time. Pick up a pencil and go. You have too much promise.
  19. Im always timid to critique terragenerations. I don't like them to begin with so I have to push myself to be biased for them. Im no expert on mountains, but as the color shows in the actual rock it looks as if the whole scene is of a large, moss covered, termite colony. Ofcourse, I don't think termite colonies would be covored in moss.. nor would there be a small stream near it, but anyways. It looks to me, rock of that color would easily crumble over time causing massive, low-top, "mountains" with various ledges, crevises, and deep water-trenches. Add on the river size vs. the tiny mountain to the right of it and realism keeps on going down. Thanks to the river you added, the greens have a reason to grow without rainfall - but it still looks like moss since it's growing up the sides of these mountains, and it further insinuates that there is some rainfall making the rock look even more out of place. Mmm.. thats enough eating. Now some ideas, right? The textures.. they aren't meant to be seen close up. Like people have been saying, it looks okay far back.. but if you get close you can actually see the separate elements trying to form into one. Just for fun, why don't you -try- painting a random landscape and then make a terragen landscape. You're digital painting may not look near as pretty, but im betting it will look more "realistic". With a squeeze of irony in every glass.
  20. There were also queries sent in directly pertaining to the selling of "Digital Media" for "RS Currency" that have been responded to in favor of these kinds of transactions. I don't really see the point in asking them as their actions show their true thoughts.. or rather, lack of action(s). Digital Media, or rather, the selling of, has been a large part of RS for quite a while.. Jagex may not exactly be forum trolls.. but they certainly notice this. They also notice that it brings traffic to their game without any adverse side-effects to their product. So - why would they go against something that helps them with no strings attached? It's common business sense. All they care about is the selling of their product for solids. In other words, the selling of ingame-elements for things with real-value.. money, inparticular. You really don't have to worry about it, unless ofcourse Jagex comes out of the blue and does something completely illogical from a business standpoint.
  21. I didn't even play RuneScape when I joined here. I was a 2k3 (I think) RSC import.. or atleast since before RSC had a Digital Media board. Hell.. I can't remember the last time I played RS.. I think I quit the day that "Fatigue" and visable levels came into play. RS boards is where my digital art really started.. so I guess it's a tradition of mine to keep in the shadows somewhere. Now.. back to on off topic. I knew someone would only take half of my sentence and be offended about it. I don't really care anyways. What the hell is wrong with being a kid? I wish I were 12 again, to tell the truth. For beginning digital artists, I suppose this board inparticular is a fairly perfect grounds for competition. Nobody here is of any ZOMGz talent so there is little to be afraid of when it comes down to being harsh to new blood. Compaired to some forums i've been around this place is like heaven for young artists. To one last point// Postcount sucks, but it's a tradition. Trolls can be nuisance, but also a blessing for less active areas. Double edged sword I guess.. but on a forum like this it also counts as collateral when dealing with the various trades going on in the economical based boards. I wouldn't personally trust making someone a detailed piece for 1 million if they had 5 postcount.. I mean.. what do they have to loose, then?
  22. A topic with potential? Maybe.. There has been no true reasoning here, just people spouting opinions back and forth like a bunch of children. Everyone knows true reasoning is a bunch of children spouting out facts. XP The argument is trivial afterall. You (should) know the reasons for signatures in this (or any other sig-happy) forum. But first, i'd like to discuss about an aspect of the faceless communities. "Monochromatic". Everyone is the same, and everyone gets treated the same when approached; only changing when one spouts their opinions. Just like school uniforms.. or kinda like communism. It's great when you're on the bottom level.. or even in the middle somewhere. Ofcourse.. this is a game forum so.. competition isn't exactly a small part of the community. In order to syphon some activity from the game you have to have some gimmicks. Now onto the reasons for signatures on most forums. Unique: Most people want to be this. They want to stand out.. be different. Being unique helps you get noticed.. it makes more people take an interest in your ideas because, gasp, they just might have an -out of the box- perspective. Another down, or upside, to being unique is.. you get noticed.. and quite often labled depending on just how "unique" you truly are. Competition: This is a game forum, as mention above. It strives on competitively active people. These competitive people prefer the exotic to the usual.. they want to be the best, the unique, so they go where they can best do that. Naturally this forum would cater to the whim of it's largest demographic. It also opens up the next point. Economy: Any economy is a good economy for the local area. Signatures, or art in general, has become quite a large asset to the runescape economy. Since digital art is one of the few legal things GP, or any RS currency, can be traded for it's gotten so large even a new board was to be made on this forum for such trade. Digital art has pratically become a part of runescape.. or should I say, vice versa? Tradition: Tradition is a big part of many communites.. and Digital Media has been a large part of this one for.. lord knows how long. If all reason goes against RS related Digital Art then tradition will be here to hold it, reguardless. For some last opinions.. Yes, signatures are useless, but fun and non-harmfull, so why not? Yes, signatures are a waste of time when considering the broader scale of art... but it's the individual's choice to waste their time or not so I don't really give a flying fart in their general m00se. Yes, that was a MP reference. Yes, im done.. I think.. if you're known for your big tracts of.. land, that is. If you wanted a short version.. I guess "Leave Rome to the Romans" will suffuce.
  23. Eyes are always fun to paint if you ever get in the mood. Thats cliche too, ofcourse, but it allows for alot more creativity and control - not to mention more area for showing one's skills. Speaking of which.. I really need to change that devart icon of mine, i've been bothered by it ever since I put it up there. XP
  24. Crate is Ryan and Azz is somewhere around here, just not very often. Deximus.. I must have not been around, or may have left before he arrived.. or didn't care about him.. with me, who knows.
