Greatsilverwyrm
http://onestar.deviantart.com/journal/6061173/ Jark, cofounder of Deviantart is mysteriously not staff anymore. This is in support of his apparent ousting. I won't give you anything more than that, because I really don't know much more. But please, in support of the community, submit NOTHING on August 7th. Nadril
I heard about jark not being staff anymore. all i can realy say is, wtf? Not realy sure what he did, but I'm sure the deviantart wont be the same without a big yellow allien :) Anyways, i'm posting that journal in my journal. edit: i just read a few things.... but, i'd sugest everyone look at this: http://files.doofsmack.com/images/scree ... omment.jpg They actualy deleted that thread, a violation of deviantart rules. Luckily someone got a picture of it. also, http://www.deviantart.com/view/21117999/?offset=100 that right there. Something is up, and i'm not sure what it is. Definitly a sad day for deviantart... considering jark was one of the founding members.

Mercifull
A boycott only works when a majority of people do it. Unfortunatly for the most people devart will be as normal on that day and thousands of deviations will be posted as normal. A lot of people have been posting this in their journal, kind of making a chain type of deal. But, we will have to see on the 7th.
Azvareth
Matt's right. A vast majority of the members will just continue as usual, totally oblivious as to what's happened (hey, I would if Wyrm hadn't posted this). But if it's just for paying respect to the guy, I suppose it's just a "the more the marrier" type of thing. However, the fact that the other staff members hasn't made any announcements or explanations (from what I've seen anyway), makes the whole thing hell a lot more dodgier. Anyway, I haven't submitted anything to dA in a loooong time, so I suppose I can persevere for a few more days. :P // Azvi.

jak722
Goodluck on the boycott! I hope it works out. Jark is the yellow alien probe guy right? :| The Enrichment Center reminds you that the weighted companion cube will never threaten to stab you and, in fact, cannot speak. In the event that the weighted companion cube does speak, the Enrichment Center urges you to disregard its advice.
venomai
Goodluck on the boycott! I hope it works out. Jark is the yellow alien probe guy right? :| He was one of the original co-founders (only 2 I believe?) of dA. He coded the site aswell, or at least the original versions. Plus, he was a great administrator and an all around nice guy.

I read around a bit more, and it seems like jark could actualy sue the people/person that decided to kick him... because deviantART is a buisness, more or less. misterxman
Haven't been on DA much but now I'm reading around to see what exactly is going on. It is true that this message won't stop everyone from posting, but something is always better than nothing. I just noticed you can also change your current mood to "Yellow Alien!" to help out. Keiphus
Although the idea seems noble I'm not too sure I support it. I do agree that $jark was a great leader and helped the community alot. One might even go so far as to call him the cornerstone. However, I think the whole boycott thing is a bit childish and doubt it will work anyway. Obviously there are more corporate issues at work here that we know nothing about, and is none of our business. I'm not sure what happened but from the sounds of it, $jark has plenty of things he can do to become a staff member or whatever he wants. DeviantArt is a business, like it or not; and I'm sure he had some kind of stake in it, being he was an original founder... Him just being kicked out seems a bit wierd... I don't think the boycott will work for the simple fact that some people will submit, some won't, some are doing only yellow, etc. Pick one. I've never spoken to $jark directly, but I used to browse DA daily, and I must say I have enjoyed reading his bulletins, and have greatly appreciated the work done for the community. venomai
I belive there were 3, but yes. He is an origonal co-founder. Well, according to jark, there were only two originals. http://comments.deviantart.com/5/6061173/156072009 You can find that reply in the journal GSW linked to. EDIT: I agree with you partly Keiphus, unfortunately this "boycott" sort of thing's not going to work too well. But still, it's definitely going to go down in dA history, and sounds like it will have to make some sort of impact. I'm happy to help in this (comparably weak) effort to bring back the community, even if it doesn't make any impact on the current site leaders (I'm sure they won't care). :)
tttia
Jark did say there were only two, but if you look at an earlier journal he seemed to say three. Either way, it is getting interesting. The jark phenomenon has dominated the front page. A boycott will indeed be hurt by a submit yellow campaign. And really, the whole thing has actually HELPED Spyed because the traffic regarding all this has doubtless [bleep]ed--boosting ad revenue. Here are some interesting links on the issue which might give some insights as to what precipitated things. http://www.t52.org/#2 http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/21272664/
LP
didnt read through many responses.. but this is what he did im told.. jark disagreed with the new ranking system they might implement, yes (they may start ranking artists) and he got phir3d :(
SubDivi
I don't submit anyways... though yeah, I wont. This will be about as effective as a petition being shoved in your face.. which, admittedly, isn't very effective at all. Though the combination of a powerful statement and a powerful attorney could make a difference. The only problem being that this might increase profit. It'd be best to not goto the site that day.
