What's the point of having stories in video games at all then? I think there are various elements to a game for a reason. Like Venomai said, they all add up to create the overall experience you get from playing it. Whether that overall experience is fun or not is the real question. I will agree that it gets annoying when reviewers think video games are supposed to be 100% plausible though.
  2. By successful, I'm not speaking of the ones who survive the process - I'm speaking of the process itself. Why does this process exist and not one that would have wiped every living organism out eras ago, one that wouldn't allow this sentence to be typed up? Let's say life was practically made out of nothing, but now how would you explain it's ability to perpetuate when there are tons of other possibilities which could have been our reality (or lack of reality since we wouldn't exist)?
  3. I fail to see how something so successful can be natural though. Life is so conditional and circumstantial that it baffles me how I have the ability to type this very sentence. It seems much more likely that natural evolution wasn't such a perfect system. I forget the term but it's something along the lines of "everything eventually fails". Evolution (natural) seems to be the opposite of this.
  4. Mercyful Fate by far. Their material is solid and catchy. It might be King Diamond's singing that scares most people away but if you don't pay any mind to what he's saying they're almost perfect.
  5. Another online Final Fantasy? Ugh, why couldn't they just call them Final Fantasy Online 1 and 2? It would be nice to be able to say "I beat Final Fantasy 1-14" but that's impossible thanks to them being unbeatable online games. Well... for perfectionists at least.
  6. How can a concept with no autonomy be responsible for efficiency? Nature is clearly autonomous. So is evolution. Horrible word choice, my mistake. My point is that I don't see how it's possible for something to be naturally efficient. Efficiency kind of implies that there is some sort of mind work taking place.
  7. How can a concept with no autonomy be responsible for efficiency?
  8. It should be up to the person being touched. If you don't want to be touched and you report it on your own terms then that's understandable. But when a legitimate couple both give their consent to hug each other, that is no business of the control-freaks we call the "authorities". Do they not realize the more laws we have the more problems we are creating?
  9. We can create enduring documents (books) and communicate even through outer space. The most an animal can do is leave behind indistinct marks which implies nothing more than "I was here" and they can use sonar to communicate at distances but it doesn't travel nearly as far or fast as our internet or radio. We are quite clearly superior when it comes to communication. I agree - that was a bad example. Animals can visualize things such as dams and build them. However, our imaginations are far more complex than an animal's. We can think of traveling through time (although we can't physically do it) which is far more complex than thinking of a dam. That's a contradiction. Either they are different or they are the same. Not logic on our level. You're trying to convince us with your intellectuality that humans are no different than animals. Doesn't that alone say something about our differences? An animal can't try to convince other animals anything like that.
  10. Yeah I heard of that too but I'd rather not run up our electricity bill for that. Plus... 2 years... the world might end by then. Edit: I feel dumb when I ask a question and then I Google it and it's in the first result. #-o Appears like it is possible: http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/psx/file/197338/41181
  11. Nice job. You make me want to play 9 after I beat 12 now, but my girlfriend's brother is borrowing it at the moment. Is it possible to get a perfect game with Excalibur 2?
  12. What do you mean by this? They are much more than just hobbies. They are mediums of communicating ideas to massive amounts of people and also you can get paid for taking part in them. Hobbies are things you do for fun without pay. Plus, everyone enjoys music. It's kind of a stretch to call something that everyone enjoys a hobby.
  13. It's a debate forum though. I think it's more interesting when people defend their beliefs vigorously than when they just try to conciliate.
  14. Good idea, maybe an Off Topic Debates Forum instead of one that only applies to RS. (How are you supposed to debate about RS anyway? :-s ) Although, I don't like the idea of an IQ requirement. Let anyone in, that should make it more interesting. :D
  15. It really angers me when a teacher accuses me of doing something when I actually didn't do it. One time I was literally standing in line with my friends, just waiting to go to lunch. My teacher came up to me and started yelling at me for goofing around. I asked what I did wrong and her response was, "You know what you did!" I didn't get into serious trouble, but if stuff like that happens then I can only wonder what some kids get detention/suspension for.
  16. Now that I think of it, my dancing looks like a combination of the RS emotes.
  17. You mean like 99% of all statistics? Yes, 99%. What I said is the only statistic that isn't misleading, or else I would have put 100%.
  18. Is it even possible to anger god? If anything, he should be angry at himself since he caused you to commit "blasphemy". I also wonder this about why people make such a big deal about not believing. If it really angers him that you don't believe him, even though he led you to not believe him, then is it a god worth worshiping? My beliefs should be of my own account - not because I'm scared into them.
  19. The major problem is that everyone's vote counts as one and only one. It's completely unfair that someone who has actually done their research only has the same effect as someone who knows practically nothing about the issue. They could just flip a coin to see what they'd vote for and their voice would still be just as equal as someone who actually knows what they are voting for. Surely the researcher's input is far more valuable. That's not all - what about taking into account how strongly people feel about the issue? "I'm a homosexual and I really want to marry my boyfriend who I have loved for 5 years. It hurts me how it is 'forbidden'. Hopefully this will change things." *Votes pro gay marriage* "Gay marriage? I only came here to vote for more traffic lights. Hmmm... Well, I don't really care... but the Bible says it's forbidden so..." *Votes anti gay marriage* Something is terribly wrong here.
  20. Yep, the Bible also opposes working on Sundays but of course no one has a problem with people who do anyways. They just pick and choose what to get upset about. We are similar to animals in the sense that the main things on our minds are survival and sex, but we're not exactly alike. Far from it actually. There are tons of differences.
  21. Yes, all the time. I really don't know why either. I do it even when there isn't an air pocket in them.
  22. Being alone sucks... that is until you realize how much you miss it after you've had a ball and chain tied to your feet for a few months. But, if you dump her, you'll miss not being lonely. It's a cycle of dissatisfaction. Relationships.. :|
  23. Philosophy? Tying up loose ends? What?
  24. Lateralus by Tool sums it up pretty well. Life's a gift to live how you want. To discover your desires and to fulfill them. It's all up to you. You can look at the world and call it a piece of [cabbage]. Hell, it is! Compare this piece of [cabbage] world to a realm of complete nothingness though. Which would you rather have? I'd always pay the price of misery just to have a few good laughs, accomplish my goals, love the ones who are close to me. Those experiences are worth anything. Life is beautiful. Oops, should have warned me. You saw me online.
  25. Too many questions. That could be the problem. Oh and I know this sounds like a troll post, but I'm serious. Don't worry about how you're living your life that much - just live it. Things should come naturally.
