  1. No, read the whole quote again. No, they can't. Now read this. Maturity is a psychological term used to indicate that a person responds to the circumstances or environment in an appropriate manner. This response is generally learned rather than instinctual, and is not determined by one's age. Maturity also encompasses being aware of the correct time and place to behave and knowing when to act in serious or non-serious ways. --- In other words, there are two kinds of maturity. Brain development and how one responds to their environment. No, a 10-year-old doesn't have a brain that's fully developed, but a 10-year-old can respond to a circumstance in an appropriate manner. This was all I came on this thread to point out.
  2. Which means it's still far more inconvenient than having a normal diet. Ah, so I see you've taken "necessary" to the most unnecessary extreme. Allow me to rephrase myself then: We eat meat because it is expedient when it comes to our diets (our diets being necessary for survival). Don't start that with me. You're the one who said I'm talking about a high meat diet. So where is this irregularly placed line drawn?
  3. Ad hominem! Ad hominem! Nope. I pointed out several posts where he said things such as, "No, children cannot act in a mature manner." Do I honestly have to quote him for like the fifth time? There's only so much ignoring facts can do for you. Then it isn't racist to say, "Laziness is a product of being black." See where I'm going here? The sheer fact that he brought it up shows that he's an ageist. Jac, maybe you should do yourself a favor and actually read what's being posted on here? That might be helpful. Maybe then you'll spot what's actually going on, like this: No, they can't. Do you seriously agree with that? lol Why are all pedophilia acts done by adults?
  4. So you're asking for a debate but then you get angry when someone partakes in one? Plus I don't know why you think you settled the last one. All you did was ignore the points I made and bring up a different point that wasn't even being addressed. I'm not arguing that children don't make these threads. I'm arguing that it's stupid to bring it up in the first place. I'm also arguing that young people can be mature. I guess all of this can be settled if you admit that you're an ageist... O:)

I'd seriously question that. Vision and hope is the second best motivator next to fear. Also, I don't see why time and hope can't go hand in hand. It took me a lot of time to get 99 Hunter, but I also needed hope or else I would've given up even if I had enough time to complete the goal. Plus I doubt it took 5 seconds for them to go to the moon or become a rock star. Being a rock star requires hours and hours of practice. Being an astronaut takes years of education/training. Not really. I log on a few times a month and get some Mining Xp since that's the only thing I really can do in F2P. I didn't completely quit though. I still plan on maxing out one day far into the future, but only once I have a stable life.
  6. What is that supposed to mean?
  7. Don't you mean men have it harder?
  8. Zierro replied to compfreak847's topic in Rants
If this was the rule we lived by (if it's improbable then don't even try) then there would be no rock stars. We wouldn't have went to the moon. We wouldn't have invented televisions. We wouldn't have any 99 Slayers. Is a world without any hope really that glorious? And how do you know you're not going to get 99 Slayer unless you at least attempt it and see your limitations?
  9. Zierro replied to compfreak847's topic in Rants
So does that mean that they shouldn't buy guitars and try?
  10. Why do you say things you don't mean then? :-s Wait, so maturity only applies to the Rants Forum?
  11. Zierro replied to compfreak847's topic in Rants
I did. My brother did. The majority of people on my friends list did.
  12. What? It's more convenient than ever to be vegetarian. Just because you have a "hard" time avoiding meat doesn't mean its necessary "for your survival." Point in case is: A high meat diet is absolutely not necessary for survival. Are you kidding? How is it more convenient to completely abstain from one certain type of food, even though it is in the majority of dishes presented to you? With vegetarianism, you have to go out of your way. If you're an omnivore, you don't. Also, I never said anything about a high meat diet - just a diet with any meat in it at all or else we aren't talking about true vegetarianism then. I don't understand where these "you eat meat, so that means we can do whatever we want to animals" arguments are coming from.

I thought they were the only Horror-Punk band. They're all the rage in my school, but I think it only has to do with fashion. I mean I have a Misfits shirt but I actually love them. This one kid who had the same shirt as me said that the old Misfits sucked... Ha. My favorite song is probably Bloodfeast. I also like She.
  14. I see no David Blaine Spoofs either. :x
  15. It's more of the manner in which he killed them and the fact that they were his sisters.
  16. That's true but in this day and age it is highly inconvenient to browse the stores and find purely vegetarian cuisines. It's more difficult to completely abstain from meat than one might think. Especially if you live with a family that cooks for you. I didn't mean to say factory conditions are right, but there is a difference between using something for the intention of survival and using something for the intention of sexual activity. You don't have to have sex to survive, but you do need to eat and it's hard to avoid meat in your diets.
  17. [cabbage] like this makes me scared to live amongst society. I'd rather have my own personal hut.
  18. We do it for survival though. This isn't to say I disagree with your main point - merely just that particular example. In fact I don't see how anything that you have no choice over can be considered "wrong".
  19. I don't see how abandoning the wildy argument and bringing up "shortsightedness and inability to see beyond ones own desires plus lack of long term consequences" (the generality of dumb actions, which you said this argument was not about) helps back up your point about it being only about wildy rants. It's doing the opposite. And like I said, adults do stuff like that too so it isn't merely a product of adolescence. This is where ageism comes in. It's the same as a racist saying, "Laziness is a product of being black," even though there are numerous cases of people from different backgrounds being just as lazy. I've read a lot of your posts and I can see your stance perfectly clear. You have to understand that you're putting all children under this category when you say that. Again, this is the same exact foundation of racism. Why you even bring up the word "children" is beyond me, and seems like a logical fallacy if one would even consider it even pertinent at all. Bringing it up in a negative light doesn't further your argument - it reveals your ageist tendencies the same way bringing up black people in a negative light reveals racist tendencies. I have... And I'll do so again: No, they can't. Read the quote right above. He was referring to maturity in the 'sensible' context as opposed to the biological context, yet you still disagreed.
  20. And adults have never done that...? I thought you said this argument was only about the wilderness exclusively. If it doesn't change your point then it means you don't have one in the first place. Refer back to what I said about the obligatory conditions. Oh just the fact that you vigorously repeated that people with undeveloped brains can't make sensible decisions or stances. It's obvious that you are not mature in that sense until your brain develops because that is what it is defined as, but we are dealing with maturity in the sense of one's actions here. Hence your disagreement that children can't be as sensible as adults.
  21. Then you agree that ranting about the wildy isn't just a product of adolescence? Yeah, seeing as the vast majority of TIFers (and probably PKers too) are under 25 anyways. I agree, but the funny thing is I'm only 18. Fits in perfectly with how ranting about the wildy is not the appropriate response to the given circumstance.
  22. You're going in circles now. If you make the assertion that adults aren't the ones ranting about wilderness (we both came to the consensus that this is a stupid action), then what else could your point be besides blaming kids for being the ones who do stupid things and defending adults? You're pretty much saying the only contributing factor to these stupid rants is the poster's adolescence, which is an insult to all young people. It's ageism. And this same vein of thinking is exactly what fuels racism. One more thing. Do you think the OT is suddenly going to change his mind the moment he turns 25 and "matures"?
  23. Why didn't I get that call yet? Also:
  24. It was in response to how you said, "No, kids can't be as sensible as adults." This isn't true. While there might be a strong correlation, it doesn't speak the universal truth that all children are less sensible than all adults. By the way, did you mean synonyms? Ignoring the fact that adults do dumb things too doesn't speak too well for your credibility. Do I really have to search through Google and compile a list of all the stupid things adults have done?
  25. That's how it is with all skills. There are players who enjoy the skill and there are players that enjoy the leveling. Personally, the only skills I can say I truly enjoyed were Woodcutting and Slayer.
