Like I said, my belief is that we're in the most perfect world possible and things were "meant to" be this way. If we lived in the "super-perfect" world, then it wouldn't be perfect at all because of the fact that it's "too perfect" if that makes any sense. Allow me to expand. As stated before, "cold" must exist for "hot" to exist. A world of true perfection would mean a paradox, because if there was no "bad" what would we have to compare our "goods" with? Nothing, therefore they wouldn't be "goods" at all. So in other words, things aren't too good and they aren't too bad in my opinion - they are just right. That is my reason for believing fate, as to a Christian witnessing a miracle would be his reason for believing God.

Perfect? That's incredible. We must have completely different views on what perfect means. What do you call the hypothetical time when all the world is one and there is no war, disease or animosity between anyone? Super-perfect? We had this exact conversation before if you can recall. Well - not exactly, but like 95% similar. To answer your question, I call it a boring world where I'd be ungrateful.
  3. NO!!! never call anime a cartoon that's just insulting. a cartoon is made for a younger audience while anime is made for a more mature one. South Park is a cartoon - it sure isn't anime.
  4. Try the Help and Advice Forum. Also, it would help us to tell you're F2P/P2P status and your levels.
  5. I get what you're saying but it's two different cultures so there are two different types of action. Adult Swim cartoons are more gory and humorous, whereas the Japanese ones have a more serious tone about them with more of a storyline too. And also note how different the fighting is. In America, it's brawling, but in Japan, it's mostly robots and Burning Sun Beam Attack!'s.
  6. I don't see how you can put a plant's life up to par with an animal's life. I mean that's pretty extreme. Let me ask a question. Would you save one bird's life or two trees' lives if you had the choice?
  7. Would you really say a lion's diet is disgusting? Just sit back and enjoy the music. Mah beh hee haw! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vX07j9SDFcc
  8. Vegetarians view meat as sort of a parallel to their own flesh. My brother's girlfriend is one. Ha, missing out on so much. =P~
  9. Lenticular: You'll be fine as long as you have enough commonsense to not hang out with the idiots, and I'm sure you do. So you have nothing to worry about. Your siblings are just trying to make you paranoid and this is coming from the older brother of three siblings - it's just fun to scare them sometimes. :P I'm also going to be a senior next year, and high school really doesn't have as many cases of physical abuse as many would think - just a lot of trash talking. Just don't fret it and be open to making good new friends.
  10. Perhaps it's the action? Now that I think about it, American cartoons usually revolve around only humor. Plus, the anime makers have a lot more lenience when it comes explosions, monsters, machines, and all that good stuff than they would in real life. I'm willing to bet it's the action. I mean, what do we have? Only the Roadrunner and Coyote.
  11. To make everyone else look good? I believe you hit the nail on the head.

I think that's all it can come down to though. This thread will be on my mind for a good while, so if I can think of anything extra I'll definitely let you know. :
  13. Yeah but creationist believers can just say: "The chicken, ever heard of God?"
  14. Agreed 100%. To each his own, and I don't look down upon anime-fans. It's just never been my cup of tea.

Satenza, you're just setting me for repeating my religious analogies. "Belief in God is not the logical conclusion to arrive at just because [insert reason for faith here]." Wait, you do know what I implied by "universal" right? We are each living in our own little worlds - every single human being. In my world, black is the best color, pizza is the best food, Tool is the best band, etc. In your world, that list will be different. In my world, fate is proven. In your world, fate isn't proven. God is very similar. Would you care to give me a reason as to why belief in God is different than belief in fate? Edit: "Proven" is such a strong word when talking about this. I didn't literally mean that - I think you get my point though.

Be my guest. It's about time I had a good debate. : Because it just seems too good to be true, therefore I think there is more to the picture than just what we see as adaptation. The whole process of adapting is what astounds me - it gives me suspicion that things were meant to be this way for a reason.
  17. Zierro replied to Zierro's topic in Off-Topic
My reason is that I think the world is a great place, so something had to set it up to be that way. That reason is not good enough for you though. Sorry but I can't fix that. The same exact way God exists on a personal level and not a universal level. People have their own personal ways for believing things. But can't I say that adaptation is just "fate" in disguise? I believe it can go both ways. You can say that way makes sense because there isn't prove, but I can easily say the same about the other side of the argument.
  18. Most likely the chicken. He's closest to the door. ;)
  19. Zierro replied to Zierro's topic in Off-Topic
Why is that? Of course I'll say it's fate's fault. That's what this is all about. Now let me ask a question. Why don't you believe in fate?
  20. Zierro replied to Zierro's topic in Off-Topic
You mean by thinking the world is perfect by accident? You seem to have taken things from a personal level to a universal level. Telling me fate doesn't exist is like telling a Christian that God doesn't exist. Does a Christian have a fool proof way of proving God's existence? No, but in his mind it's what makes the most sense to him.

Pizza existing. Music existing. Comedy existing. Also, remember I'm talking on a personal level. In my own opinion, the world couldn't get better, and I have fate to thank for that - for making things turn out the way they did (the greater good). I can't stress this enough but I'm only trying to justify my own personal views - not trying to declare that fate existing is indisputable.
  23. Zierro replied to Zierro's topic in Off-Topic
Personally, the fact that I think the world is perfect is my evidence for believing fate exists. You know, everything happening for a greater good? I really can't see how you fail to make the connection.
  24. What 1_man_army said. If she doesn't want to and you do it anyways, that's rape.
