National Man Day
That's a good point (not that I was at all offended by man day). It's not really a good point, because I already refuted it in one of my first posts: That refuted my point that holidays shouldn't be offensive to the opposite of what they represent? Umm, how about come up with something a little less... non sequitur? And what those Facebookers deem as manly is irrelevant anyways. If someone wants to celebrate Man Day by spending time with kids and going to plays, who exactly is stopping them? What it means to be a man is completely open to interpretation. Just because your neighbors put an angel on the top of their Christmas tree doesn't mean they're dissing the star on top of yours. (By the way, they actually did mention being a good father as a manly activity.) Maybe you're just reading too much into the "frolic through the fields like a nancy" part. I thought that was an obvious hyperbole used to give an opening to the minefield joke. And I suppose yo mama jokes came from a bunch of angry fathers who needed to put mothers in their place. It's humor. The main intent is to cause laughter - not to spread hatred. You think that the whole pro-life campaign exists only because of sexism (even though there are plenty of women out there who are pro-life and there are plenty of pro-life arguments that have absolutely nothing to do with gender). You think that if someone uses the common phrase, "Cry like a little girl," they are a sexist. And now you think anything that has the word "man" in it is fueled by sexism. When are you going to stop? Holy crap, man. (I'm not offending you by calling you that, am I?) Precisely. This "hostility for women" only comes from mage's preconceptions of "manliness" - the very thing he is arguing about with sexism against women. So in a nutshell, he is allowed to use generalizations against men, but the second anyone else does that to women, they are a bigot. Ironically, the most sexism I've seen on this site comes from him. [Edited this post for the last time. I promise.]

National Man Day
Coming from someone who used the pirate to unicorn analogy? There is no offensive part until you bring up your own preconceptions on what you deem as a "man". It isn't called Beat Your Wife Day. It's only Man Day. You hear the word "man" and then sexism is the first thing that comes to your mind? Yeah, who's the real sexists here? PS: This is to Magekiller. Weren't you the guy defending Black History Month? lol

High level [bleep]S thinking they're entitled to stealing worlds
"My father owns an industry!" What are you talking about? I had people planting flowers in front of me over and over again when I was going for 99 Firemaking. Trolling other players is extremely common in RS. You just have to find a way to deal with it. I had courtesy when it came to others' resources, but a lot of players aren't like that and with it being a competitive game on the internet, you shouldn't be surprised.

Most overrated band/artist
Woot, someone understands. That's how I feel about The Beatles. I think they have some good songs and I have some good things to say about their artistic skill, but my rating for them is just simply lower than the average rating they receive.

Most overrated band/artist
It's not the thread that's useless. I was actually interested in hearing what TIFers thought of certain bands. (I'm surprised Nirvana was mentioned as much as it was here.) It's that most people don't even know what the word means that ruins it.

Most overrated band/artist
Alright, this is getting annoying. Overrated: It means the band receives an unwarranted amount of appreciation. That's completely opinionated. The word "over" implies opinion when in conjunction with "rated". (IE: My rating for The Beatles is lower than your average person's, so I am justified in saying, "I think The Beatles are overrated.") You guys seem to think it's analogous to "overflowing" or something where there is an objective point between the yes and no factor. It's actually quite funny when people say, "No, you're wrong! They're not overrated!". You are free to disagree, but saying that they are wrong about something that is purely dependent on the eye of the beholder is just stupid. The argument would be nothing more than a huge back-and-forth of yeses and nos. Okay, let's hear your angry replies now. :)

National Man Day
Lol, that is the only funny cat I've seen on the internet in all of my years. But pirates do exist. I don't see why you guys are getting offended by it. I mean, I think it's stupid just like every other [insert random word] day, but where are you pulling this hostility from? Should Fathers Day be offensive to mothers?

The concept of progression. Life is too pointless without it.

No Sex Please, We're Middle Class
It makes a lot more sense after reading all of your interpretations. Our modern day culture does seem to go straight for sex, overlooking foreplay which makes the sex they crave even better. Actually, that can be applied to other things about our society aside from sex. People always want to do things as efficiently as possible and then forget what it was really all about in the first place. It makes me think about music and politics. Still, I don't see why she would use that type of rhetoric for an article that she wanted to be heard by society. Yeah, I'm assuming he was talking about emos and hardcores. That's just a counterculture that exists purely because the norm is baggy pants.

All Time Favorite Games
Yeah. After I graduated, I had a ton of free time on my hands so I decided to max it out (excluding max cash and max amount of items - that's insane). I spent 200 hours on it and, aside from taking like 10 hours just to get the Danjuro and the 100 races, I had a lot of fun the whole time. I actually enjoyed the battle system once you got far enough into the game. Maxing out the bestiary was a lot of fun. I really liked the variety of levels too.

I don't even know how you could call them stories. "Go collect things and then defeat the evil emperor!" You seriously find merit in that? The only FF stories I cared about were 7, 9, and 10 because they actually had some depth to them. Every other one was generic to the utmost extreme. I just don't play games as the same reasons as you do. Story is the last thing on my mind when I think of a good game (same with graphics). Take Left 4 Dead for example. I'd say the lack of it's story was one of it's strongest points. You can just jump into the game and kill weird enemies - no commitment required. It's all about the game play for me. Besides, I did say those Final Fantasies were good games so I don't know where the hell you got that from. In fact, the fifth one was one of my favorite RPG's, but as for the story, it quite simply had nothing special to it. "Mauahah! I'm going to destroy the world for no reason!!" Please describe to me how that entertained you in any way possible.

What's wrong with you??? And about the story, I heard it got bad reviews, but honestly I thought it was a step up from most other FF stories I've seen. 4, 5, 6, 8, and 12 had terrible stories. Still good games though.

The author should be writing stories, not articles. I have no idea what her point was. What are we supposed to do? Make our own clothes?

Most overrated band/artist
EDIT: What the hell? Double posted twice today. Is there something wrong with TIF or is it just me?
-
Most overrated band/artist
Yeah, exactly. There are so many bands that have been inspired by The Who's vivacious rock style. Of course they didn't make as big of an impact as The Beatles, but there are many other bands who caused music to evolve. Black Sabbath is another one.

Woops sorry. Double post. Now I need to make a really long post to make up for this one. :ohnoes:

Reveal Confessions, Secrets & Regrets...
Lol. So I'm not the only one who feels that way. The way that people walk and follow in that game really took a toll on my mental state. Especially how the text pops up above their heads.

Today...
Yeah.... about that one.... The thing with the peekapoo is that it's trying too hard. It's begging me to find humor in it's name, like a dog begging me for table scraps. The more it begs, the less inclined I am to give. Too contrived. Not impressed. Not my cup of dog. Yeah.... So let's just put this whole thing behind us. :? Including me saying cup of dog. Sometimes I do things without thinking them through.
