  1. ^ I'm pretty sure it is, DA generally uses HTML in the formatting + emotes and icons with :
  2. Then you tell me what this is supposed to mean: Hmm... The only thing I can think that that means is that you can't keep your insurance unless it covers something that the federal insurance doesn't. Under HR 676 you would be required to be covered by the insurance, like Social Security for lack of a better example. HR 3200 goes into detail about the hows and whats of coverage and how coverage will be distributed.
  3. Those are pills. And kind of generic stuff with the asthma. Postcode lotteries to get insulin pumps and testing supplies when they're proven clinically effective. That's what I'm talking about. Look at this: http://www.diabetes.org.uk/Documents/Re ... re2008.pdf They've spent at least five years fighting for better treatment for people with diabetes in the UK and it's still crappy. http://www.politics.co.uk/opinion-forme ... 2916$6.htm [hide=http://www.politics.co.uk/opinion-formers/diabetes-uk/make-diabetes-a-priority-$1232916$6.htm] [/hide] EDIT: [hide=The Truth about Health Care Reform][yt]U0XCl6OHgiM[/yt][/hide] So he says. But look at the bill. There is also a clause in one of these bills about how 'existing plans may be grandfathered in' but no new plans may be added or changed. He has said himself that they will phase out private insurance in ten years or so. [hide=Proof.][yt]p-bY92mcOdk[/yt][/hide]
  4. Here is finished monster. Will work on guy in a few. [hide=][/hide] EDIT: Finished guy: [hide=][/hide]
  5. As to #6. COBRA lets you have your insurance for UP TO 18 MONTHS after you've stopped working for your employer. If you get your insurance through your spouse and they die/divorce, you can have it for up to 18 months. You have to pay the whole premium (whereas if you were working for them they'd chip in a bit) but you're covered. The reason there's so many uninsured is because a lot of people choose not to take coverage because they think it costs too much. It's their choice to be uninsured. My family of 4 pays $200 a month for our insurance. In our case it's more than worth it because I have type 1 diabetes and have an excessive amount of prescriptions and medical supplies that we could never pay for ourselves (one vial of Humalog insulin: $200. I go through at least 4 a month). If you want to work you can get a good job that will offer you good insurance at a reasonable price. Even if you choose not to take a general coverage plan you need to get (I can't remember the exact name) emergency insurance. If you get in a freak accident or have to stay in the hospital they will cover it. You might have to pay $100 once every year for a general physical but you're pretty good otherwise. If you're disabled/retired there's Medicare. If you don't make much money, there's Medicaid. If you're a kid with a serious illness, there's Children's Special Health. You pay for both Medicaid and CSH on a sliding scale. If you can't afford to pay, you don't. If you lost your job there's COBRA and if you need to be insured and have a pre-existing condition, most states have a coverage provider that is required to take you (after a 60 day waiting period, but you get insurance). As to Germany lets people buy into the system but still has private care and this is what Obama is proposing: He himself has said we will get rid of private healthcare. My previous post has the exact pieces of the bill that cover that little bit. I really wish there was somebody in my position who lives in the UK or Canada. Has a chronic illness and needs special treatment. Because those people are being screwed over by the system there and we will be in the US if this is created here.
  6. My school did that. And then expected their students to complete a PowerPoint class without having the PowerPoint program. Plus the computers are complete crap and can't run it and whoever installed it limited the size of its cache so you can't open any templates. imo Open Office is crap and needs at least a few years to get up to par. I was more angry about the fact that the school will pay for a site license for PS (when GIMP is just as good and almost identical) but not for MS Office which is pretty much required knowledge when you get a job in any sort of business.
  7. Erm... from the Fally thread (viewtopic.php?f=245&t=804906&p=6876401#p6876401) I've got two squares, if they could be put next to each other somewhere that'd be great. Pretty sure neither user already has one: who_am_i: archimage_a:
  8. Here's the deal on the Tip.it Grid. If you've already got one, you can't do another. I've got one already. So sadly I cannot do another one. I will post Archi's and who am i's tiles in the thread.
  9. Being fairly sure that I've seen that Wiki somewhere before... You want us to just make stuff (stats) up or use the GURPS stuff? I'ma play a Syreen I guess.
  10. I wasn't sure how it'd look with them on there, plus if you already have 2 eyes in the front of your head you don't really need more in the front... That's why originally I drew it on the guy and off because I thought that you wouldn't be able to see the eyes from a front view. Just my thoughts, if you really want it changed I'll see what I can do.
  11. Here's semi-done version. [hide=][/hide]
  12. [hide=][/hide] Just realized I didn't resize it so it's pretty humongous.
  13. I've got a $50 4GB Sansa Clip that's lasted longer than the headphones I bought with it (a pair of 2XL hanger buds... cord is dying on them). It's nice, has an FM tuner and a customizable equalizer which is apparently a really great feature. The buds that come with it are crap though.
  14. By the way, the other bill is H.R.3200 - America's Affordable Health Choices Act of 2009 (Introduced in House) That one's a lot longer and covers a lot more crap.
  15. This is the text from the Library of Congress, I'm pretty sure it's the actual text of the bill. [hide=SEC. 102]SEC. 102. BENEFITS AND PORTABILITY. (a) In General- The health insurance benefits under this Act cover all medically necessary services, including-- (1) primary care and prevention; (2) inpatient care; (3) outpatient care; (4) emergency care; (5) prescription drugs; (6) durable medical equipment; (7) long term care; (8) mental health services; (9) the full scope of dental services (other than cosmetic dentistry); (10) substance abuse treatment services; (11) chiropractic services; and (12) basic vision care and vision correction (other than laser vision correction for cosmetic purposes). (B) Portability- Such benefits are available through any licensed health care clinician anywhere in the United States that is legally qualified to provide the benefits. © No Cost-sharing- No deductibles, copayments, coinsurance, or other cost-sharing shall be imposed with respect to covered benefits.[/hide] Covers all 'medically necessary procedures' as deemed medically necessary by who? My doctor can say I need an insulin pump and at this point, almost all private insurance companies will cover it, even if the person is 80. If you're on Medicare/Medicaid/Children's Special Health they don't cover the pump. (however if you already have it, they do cover the supplies). A person can't afford to buy one themselves. They're $4000-$5000. [hide=SEC. 104]SEC. 104. PROHIBITION AGAINST DUPLICATING COVERAGE. (a) In General- It is unlawful for a private health insurer to sell health insurance coverage that duplicates the benefits provided under this Act. (B) Construction- Nothing in this Act shall be construed as prohibiting the sale of health insurance coverage for any additional benefits not covered by this Act, such as for cosmetic surgery or other services and items that are not medically necessary.[/hide] Can't keep your own insurance under the text of this bill. Unless this means something totally different from what it says, but I don't know how they could pull that off. [hide=SEC 203]SEC. 203. PAYMENT FOR LONG-TERM CARE. (a) Allotment for Regions- The Program shall provide for each region a single budgetary allotment to cover a full array of long-term care services under this Act. (B) Regional Budgets- Each region shall provide a global budget to local long-term care providers for the full range of needed services, including in-home, nursing home, and community based care. © Basis for Budgets- Budgets for long-term care services under this section shall be based on past expenditures, financial and clinical performance, utilization, and projected changes in service, wages, and other related factors. (d) Favoring Non-Institutional Care- All efforts shall be made under this Act to provide long-term care in a home- or community-based setting, as opposed to institutional care.[/hide] So there will be a set amount of money available for long-term care in each region. How will they decide who gets what? Hmmm.... RATIONING. And their defense is that it happens already: So I'm obviously against this bill. And if you want to see some really poor defenses/propaganda... http://www.whitehouse.gov/realitycheck/?e=10&ref=text Oh and you DON'T SPEND MONEY TO MAKE MONEY!
  16. I'm quite surprised there wasn't already a thread about this. It'd be interesting to find out what you think about a national healthcare system... -Do you have one where you live? -Have you had experience with it? (either with specialty/emergency care or standard care) -Do you think the US should switch to it? -Why/why not? Some of the details in the plan that Congress is currently working through: -You would go before a panel and they would decide if you needed this treatment or not. -Obama has said that private insurance companies would be allowed to remain operating -I'm unsure exactly about general care and how it would work. If you have details, please share. I'll post back with my thoughts in a bit. Gonna try and find the bill online somewhere. Here is a link to the United States National Health Care Act (or Expanded and Improved Medicare for All Act (H.R. 676)) in pdf form. Full Bill: http://docs.house.gov/edlabor/AAHCA-BillText-071409.pdf Shortened version (30Pgs) http://www.pnhp.org/docs/nhi_bill_final1.pdf Also the Wikipedia page on the bill: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_Sta ... h_Care_Act

I enjoy Racheya's new avvy also. So far I've done pretty much nothing. I discovered that 'katana' is not in the default Firefox dictionary and that made me sad. I should probably draw something/do geometry but I don wanna. My uncle's coming here tonight, my dad's got a golf tournament he hosts and it's this weekend... He paid me $3 to do the bag tags. Which was really lame because they're quite nice bag tags. (see I did them first then he just randomly gave me $3 for doing them. I would have done them for free anyway but I'd rather have had $5. who randomly pays people in increments of 3?)

What do you think of it?
  20. Here's a sketch of the platebody and headband and inked versions of the weapons, I'll draw a guy later today. [hide=][/hide] Handle is reminiscent of a katana, I thought it looked like one so I gave it a handle like one. GASP! Katana is not in the default Firefox dictionary! :o

  22. Graphics Editor: SumoPaint Not as good as GIMP/PS but it's usable completely online File Uploader: MegaUpload.com File Uploader: RapidShare Online Music: Pandora Online Music: Last.fm (if you play directly through the browser or use a browser addon) Microblogger: Twitter Art Sharing: DeviantART Image Hosting: TinyPic Image Hosting: ImageShack Image Hosting: PhotoBucket Online Videos/Music: YouTube Personally I prefer RapidShare/Last.fm/TinyPic. I would also add that depending on the browser you're using there are useful addons that have the functionality of a whole site in them (Fire.fm is one).
  23. That's totally epic if I do say so myself. Here's a slightly updated WIP [hide=][/hide] And I think I'ma do concept art of that armor and weaponry... 'Tis my favorite sort of concept art.
  24. 'Tis epic and I'm not finished yet. [hide=][/hide]
