Rs Community and Tip Forums SHOW DOWN! (the right way)
a. These will NOT be sigs. These will be larger works. Sorry, I should have stated. b. You can post your fav 5, or post more and let them pick. c. The standards will be quite high. I do not mean to offend anyone, but at the same time we can't expect people on boards who don't even know us to look through hundreds of artists. Only the best artists will get through. You are being judged on each piece, but more importantly on the totality of your work

Rs Community and Tip Forums SHOW DOWN! (the right way)
NOTE: This is a FRIENDLY competition. I would suggest we have a cross board competition between Runescape Community and Tip. For those who have been around a while, this is not the first competition. But none of them really worked out. But I think there is a better way :) Lets have artists from both boards submit up to 5 works, one of which should be new, but the rest could be new or from the past. They can post any style of works they like. In the past the judging was the problem. We had a website built by some for the purpose, but it was unstable. And the judges were from the various communities, so hardly unbiased. What I suggest instead is to have a post on each board announcing the competition. Those artists who wish to participate would post their works there. Then a panel of judges from each community would pick those that go on to the real competition. (probably wyrm, keiphus and pete at tip, but still open for discussion...rsc can pick their own of course). At the deadline we would cut and past them all into a thread over at Conceptart.org, and CGtalk. These are well established art forums that would be uniased in looking at our work. (I would put a disclaimer that we are mainly hobbyists and beginners so they don't flame us to death since many of them are insanely talented). Then have them critique and rate the works and artists. While each work will be critiqued (we hope) the goal is for them to rate artists' overall work. I have not selected a deadline yet. Both boards can work that out together. Some base rules and guidelines: No derivative works...don't make works from established artwork or ripped stuff. They REALLY do not tolerate that there. No Terragen, Poser, Bryce works (except for bryce "abstracts," they would be acceptable). Sorry, but this is just the policy of cg talk since they feel they are too much of an "out of the box" solution. No obscene stuff, nudity, (they do allow nudity, but would be better to avoid it as many of the people from these boards might take a look, and we don't want to risk the competition not being posted on rscommunity and tip.) Photomanips are allowed, but post the original references. Please make sure you actually did a lot of work of course. No sigs...please only larger works. They are going to think were noobs to start with, let's not provoke them :) Each board's judging standards for who gets to participate should be quite high. We can't expect the people on cgtalk and concept art to look through hundreds of artists, so likely only about 6-10 max from each board will be selected. Please don't get worked up if you are not. It is just a reality of the contest. Let me know if you all are up for it :) should be fun.

Top GFXMaker People of RS?
Actually, some of us have ventured out, that was not the reason for my lower assesment. In fact, you will notice I listed some of the artists from your boards. Of those you posted I would say that Kimmy and Firefreak are the only ones I am impressed with. Although if I could see Swift's ship one in a larger format, it looks like it has promise. This is a GRAPHICS discussion, so I will cut you a little slack, but still don't think renders with junk thrown on them are real skill. For that matter, while lay out etc. are great for marketability, I value being able to actually take a concept..anything..and put it on the screen. In other words, I like actual art, not just non-representational stuff with some nice lighting, or even nice lettering. Besides, you forgot Tenshi, she is one of the best over there in my opinion. Trunks is fantastic, can form some great stuff with brushing. Is tan man even still around over there? he did nice sprites, though he was a total jerk half the time. I would like to see some of his new work. I like Fire's paintings, not so much his renders. I think if fire continues the painting he will be great. The folks over at DA seem to agree. In fact, most sites besides simply this kind of mainly low teen-age populated individuals seem to like actual drawing, brushing, rendering skills better than the so called abstract work. As I have belabored for a long time, it is not truly abstract at all. The actual abstract artists masters , could draw their hind ends off, they just couldn't make a living at it after photography. They made something recognizable be seen in a totally different way. This 3d work we see is properly called non-representational. In other words, there is no recognizable subject matter that we can see that your skill put into terms the brain can relate to. There might be some elements of art there....composition, layout, good use of lighting etc., but in general you don't have to have lots of skill to do it. And here is what I mean by that. I am not saying everyone knows how to use 3d programs, or could do it exactly the same. Although learning would be quicker than learning traditional art. . I am saying that if you changed half of the work, no one would know the difference, because you are not representing anything recognizable. There is no discipline, no reproducing what you see in your mind or in a reference. You never have to "get it right." . You splat some stuff till ya say it looks good, then jazz it up. Finally There is no market for it beyond simply sigs. As for people here, I will list those I see with artistic skill, who can put their idea on the page/screen. Jeppoz is way under rated, even though he is famous for pixels. He can do some fantastic traditional drawings, etc. Xman as well is superb at pencil work, though he gives us precious little of it...as well as pixels. In all the sprites I saw over there, I never saw anything close to these two in pixels either. Froth's brushings are alright, but his new work in vector and painting are just awesome. I know the brushing with pics sells sigs, but I think he sells himself short too. And his recent works show he realizes it. They have been his best. Keiphus recent work with vectors, and some of his 3d work is great. Obviously he tends more towards the graphics arts, and the professional side of things rather than concept art, but since he is going to be employed their, can't blame him for that. His marker drawings though show some real traditional skill. And while he has to work mainly in the 3d end etc. I think he should pursue that as a hobby. No sense wasting it. Witty does really well, though I wish he would actually paint some more. The paintings he has done have been some of the best in the rs community. In fact, his wilderness painting is the only piece I ever favorited on DA (not because there are not better, but I tend to actually comment on those artists I know a bit better). I still get people who see it in my favorites asking me to make my painting into a sig for them. I refer them to witty :) Unfortunately witty has been slacking, but shows signs of returning. Message to witty: don't waste talent. As Bertoldo Giovanni (the student of Donatello, and the teacher of Michalangelo) said to Michelangelo, , "talent is cheap, dedication is costly." Princessa9 has good drawing skills, and I would love to see some non-pixel stuff from her. Those like entangle who actually use 3d to model are great. And I have seen some nice brushing from him too, at least on the coloring end of things. I don't always keep up with all the pixelers, so I am sure there are some I am missing who can draw. The late to tip pixel craze has actually helped to bring out the actual artists in my mind. To summarize, if you consider non-representational renders with some ps work art, then I guess you all have some standouts. I don't really consider it art, so I would say you have 4 or so solid artists, Fire, when he wants to, Tenshi (should probably finish more works, but very good), Trunks, and Kimmy. Kimmy has gotten better btw. Very nice work there that you posted. I will have to see if she has a DA page. Snipped images from quote. ~Peter

Top GFXMaker People of RS?
And the gfx world of RS goes far beyond Tip.it for all of you who havent yet ventured out into the more graphically advanced communites of RS like even RunescapeCommunity or ReiNet (well mebe not reinet) or the IRC ones. I have been to a lot of rs graphics boards, and I have been to boards meant to bring the best together. This board has ALWAYS been the best. And its overall quality has gotten better. I don't find rsc to be better at all. For years they had an insane limitation in their pictures board, leaving real graphics to their hidden usergroup. Now they finally got a real graphics board, but I feel it is inferior to this one.

Looking for high quiality Logo
I don't care at this point. I have to go in the morning. Do whatever you like. My version of corel seems incapable of even rendering text at that size, even if I were able to pick a font. And it won't export transparent png' at all.
-
Looking for high quiality Logo
well since I can't get my ridculous things to be transparent, have at it wyrm

Looking for high quiality Logo
Here, this should work with a teal bg. For a white one, just use the regular image, its bg is already white Good luck.
-
Looking for high quiality Logo
Try this. Just resize it for different uses.
-
Looking for high quiality Logo
sure, I will make a teal and white optimized one.
-
Looking for high quiality Logo
yes, I can do the small ones, I need the info on the themes though.
-
Looking for high quiality Logo
Sure, but you have to tell me the destination colors. Most transparent images are optimized for various themes. Are you using a. a single custom theme? b. Multiple themes? If a single, just tell me the bg color and I will optimize it. If it is multiple I will make optimized versions for black, white, mid grey etc. Then you simply plug that image into the corresponding style sheet. I don't play the game anymore. I don't even log in. This is free.

Pen and Pencil - Frontal
Pretty good stuff. The proportions of the far right guy with the axe are a bit off. The arm is too long and the pose of the bent leg is not very natural. Also, as far as composition goes, I know in the back you were not wanting a lot of detail, but the outline of the guys doesn't work. Anything in the back tends to look better in DARKER shades. Darker shades fade into the distance while lighter shades jump out. So while they are shown to be in the back by overlapping, it would be more effective if you made them darker. The outlines on the figures are too pronounced. Overall though I think you are on the right track. You portrayed a scene that appears to be a unified army on the left against a rag-tag group with mixed armor on the right. The ones on the right seem to be getting the worst of it for now. Also, I doubt the lines of troops would still be that organized in the bg once the war started. Finally, the title has to change. On the front, or war front or something would be fine. But ...frontal sounds like something ...er..bad.

Looking for high quiality Logo
Here ya go :) It is all vector, so any size ya like is doable. I can also get your transparent versions for various background colors, just tell me what you are wanting. However, I will be out of town after tonight for a bit, so let me know soon! Or just use it as is.

Yeah I bought about 10 kneeded erasers at an art shop for a class, and had a couple extra I have been using .They are great. No shavings etc. Do they erase pen though?

Mary, I like this considerably better than your stuff on the old boards. Keep up the good work :) Cute kid there witty! The lady could use a head, but hey, its a start. As for small...just blow it up and paint over it at higher resolution then delete that layer. It would work fine. Just lines anyway. I am afraid I have been busy lately, and trying to help the wifey learn a few things about photopaint, tablets etc. But i will try to do this next topic. It is a tougher one. Do a portrait of someone. It doesn't have to be perfect, but see if we can guess who it is.

NEW PROGAM... NEW BANNEER... RATE IT!
I rather like it. Artrage is not the most refined program, but looked fun. Good use of bold colors :)

Nice work! very clean lines, smooth. Incidentally what brush did you use? It appears to have a calligraphic effect, being wider in some spots.

My mixed up pic
Nadril, I know you were trying to be helpful, but he did say go gentle. Don't make me tell witty about this post! Many people do in fact pray with hands together. This is especially true in the US, etc. But the Bible shows a rather wide array of postures. Some quotes to show a variety of postures during prayerin the Old and New testament alone....not to mention other religions...If you have noticed Muslims when they pray, they pray with their fact to the ground for instance. There is no one way to pray. Particularly notice these: apparently it was not uncommon to raise one hands in prayer to God. Also, since we are to pray continually, prayer can take any posture, as seen above. People were praying while being stoned, in the belly of a whale etc. So if he wants it to be praying, let it be :) I think it is a decent enough start. Try working with some less severe atmospheres to avoid the purples and reds. They can be great,, but they take a while to learn. Incidentally, that is not an rs char is it? Not sure what it is, but hey, its an early try. Keep working :)
