my first slef portrait hilarious MUST SEE!
I like it when people try brushing, so I will go easy.... When you believe that your character on runescape is the REAL you, it is time to go outside for a bit. Other than that, nice try on the painting.

Fox-----------------raw Pixels !!!!!!-----------------------
you had art education lol you cant know that cabbage if you didn't :D edit: nice fox tho ;) This piece, unlike many of mine, was done from reference. So it was that compressed, it didn't show any legs, and it was looking that direction. On a side note, foxes that look down don't live long due to hunters, wolves, mountain lions, the like. :) Side note 2, picturesque refers to contrasting elements...sunshine through storm, etc. Unless you meant a warm fox in a cold storm, I don't get it. What did you have in mind there? Since it was from referece, I was not as worried about artistic composition as much as accuracy.

I started this in watercolor some time ago, but never finished. So I redid it considerably with digital watercolor! I may rework it a bit more at some point ,but I like how it came out. http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/14984006/

Fox-----------------raw Pixels !!!!!!-----------------------
Yes once again I resorted to including the term pixel just to get more views. it does contain pixels...lots of them in the original. I started this in watercolor some time ago, but never finished. Making One or two Free Pixel Sig (ONE in PROGRESS)
um folks, I am sure he said one or two...anyway, nice work!
-
Newest Pixel sig.
Yes they are brushed...which should be a lesson to the rest of you! haha j/k. Anyway, a. those progress shots do NOT show that you didn't trace. I am not saying you did by the way. They just don't show it. If anything they could be evidence taht you traced poorly! Or itt could be you simply eyeballed it and redid it as you said. Nothing inherently wrong with that. It is good practice. Real artists use reference all the time. However, in this style of sig most expect a REINTERPRETATION of the Rs characters. They don't expect it to look just like the game or they would simply screenie it or use cut out chars. b. I really didn't think the shading was all that bad on most of it. The shield on the one guy has the bevel look going, but I didn't notice it right away. If you are just drawing them by looking at them, try a different style and then folks will have no complaints. Good luck to ya :)

My sigs
I agree that the fire giant one looks pretty good, not only the giant, but the character looks decent there too. The text on most of those are pretty decent too. Good luck :)

New Sig C/C Please
It looks pretty good. There is not a lot of action, but a decent scene. The trees are in the foreground, and we assume they would look larger than the background elements.

Mountain Keep-------Experiment with landscape/architecture
the squares are just ornamentation, I was going to put a symbol in there, but never got around to it. It became clear this was not going to be a first rate piece so I reserved that kind of effort for later since this was a practice. As to the structures, I could have blended the turrets more, cleaned em up etc. but will do that next time.

Mountain Keep-------Experiment with landscape/architecture
Thanks! Next time I hope to have a more extreme view with it towering into the upper atmosphere. I need practice on persepective and designs, so will be focusing on that. This was fun to do though. And I just found TONS of new painter brushes I wish I had last night when working on this.

I haven't done a lot of these kind of things, so overall I am glad it came out as it did. I would make some changes doing this again, especially to the overall plan, but I like the atmosphere and shading, which was one of my big goals.

Thinking of getting back in the community
I finally quit rs myself and came back in the last month. We have been making an effort to get an art board seperate from the sig market. Since we don't have it yet we are trying to make this area friendly to WIP's painting, sketching, larger non-sig works, getting a few 3d folks again, etc. You would fit in great!
-
Question
Well I guess it is technically a glow, but you get the idea. In any case, whatever you do to fix the problem, I suggest you NOT continue to use the sig while it is oversized. The mods will whoop ya.
-
Question
Best I could do...lost some of the smooth transitions around the rim. It is nearly impossible to make a sig that has a gradient for lack of a better term of that nature that has low file size as the colors required for the smoothness are too many. I used a program called gifworks.com free to use :) Overall I kind of like the main image. It is odd, but it catches your eye. The text doesn't go with it overly well. As it is....6.9 not bad.

Pixel apprentence anyone>?
check the http://www.wacom.com site. I suggest getting their cheaper refurbished ones. They work great, and you don't save much over going to ebay...unless you want the one 3 versions old. Which actually, I have an intuos 1 (now in three) and it is fine.

Pixel apprentence anyone>?
here is the dirty little secret about pixel art-- - - - - You have to know how to draw. That is it. If you can draw and shade you can do it like the masters. If you can't, then no tricks or shortcuts will help you. I know that both jeppoz and mrxman can draw in natural media beyond the level of most here. So it makes sense that their pixel works are better. If you really want to be better at pixeling, work on drawing. The sooner would be pixelers get this concept the sooner they a. work on their drawing b. stop bothering. Either is a valid course. By the way, you are already better than quite a few on this board. Just work on your drawing skills.

Not bad :) I would suggest having the upper part of the toga go closer to his neck..the area between the neck and shoulder support that type of a garment. Then when it hangs down to the other side it would not likely be that tight...it should flow a bit. The overall shape though is pretty decent. it looks like a greek male in his 50's with a bit of a weight issue. Not that uncommon among philosophers I suppose!

Pixel sketches are better than no sketches! Or download gimp and do full brushings!

Well I didn't get to this one..sorry to say. As for the next topic, who knows, maybe I will be more motivated tomorrow. Since none of us actually did this one...I guess it stays. Some are saying they are too often anyway. Incidentally this is not an admission that daily is too often. It is just a recognition that we are all to apathetic and lazy to make an idea work for long. But hey, I will try again tomorrow! Daily practice is still a good thing. But I think perhaps I will scale back my own personal expectations. Some might get the idea from some of my posts, and from keiphus' marker post etc. that you have to submit a full finished work. That is not the idea.
