  1. The salt on tracks punishable by death is actually not a useless law. Back in the late 19th century that was a real problem. Their wheel design on trains had not had today's engineering towards litter on the track, and just a few grains of salt could derail a train easily, causing major losses in monetary value and potentially life. More people rode on trains back then, so a derailed train could easily cause major death.
  2. Negotiate. In high school I went from an 8PM curfew to 11PM just by asking and agreeing to take on responsibilities and such. By my senior year I could stay out until 1AM as long as I asked them first. Rebelling is stupid, and only serves to hurt familial relations. Negotiation is the first thing you should do.

Just a little over two months remaining until perhaps the most anticipated movie of the year (it's certainly received more press than any other film). Last night the third theatrical trailer arrived with Watchmen and damn was it epic. I didn't have the chance to see it on the silver screen (didn't care to see that movie) but I envy you if you did. http://www.apple.com/trailers/paramount ... large.html Trailer's there, HD options are available. It's certainly a great trailer and far less "campy" than the last two, with a taste of the new film's soundtrack. I think this could be the rebirth of the franchise away from a "geeky" thing to watch. The movie features little technobabble or sickening Federation "ideology" which made the previous incarnations rather difficult for many to watch. Which excites me, because that got on my nerves, too.

You missed the joke. Your avatar is a pedophile in a cartoon. And your topic is about 16 year olds working out. It was funny. Tee hee.
  5. Very original rebuttal.

Joe, your avatar and intense knowledge of the teen section of this website are sending me weird vibes. How to lose weight for a very fat person: 1) Talk to your doctor about diet options 2) Talk to your doctor about exercise plans 3) Start diet plan 4) Incrementally work your way into exercise. Considering you may be fat and out of shape, this may involve starting with such simple activity as pilates or running in place to walking, power walking, jogging, and finally running. Cardio is the way to lose weight. Lose the weight first, and then work on muscle toning. 5) Continue diet and exercise plans. You want to increase the diet (eating less food) as you go, and increase physical exercise as well. 6) Reach your target weight 7) Talk to your doctor about diet and exercise to maintain your target weight 8) Talk to gym trainer about toning your body (when you lose a lot of weight, you will still have some fat in awkward places. They will instruct you on how to tone your body). 9) When body is toned, then work on "buffouts" like free weights. 10) Pick a routine you can maintain. Getting huge muscles and then lapsing in routine will make for lots of fat. Notice how ex-football players are usually overweight and flabby? It's better to be slightly defined than to be the Incredible Hulk. This is what my doctor told me, at least. I was 75 lbs overweight last August. I've since lost 51 lbs with a mere 24 left to go to reach my target weight.
  7. I was fairly sure the joke was implied, there. http://www.csufresno.edu/folklore/drinkingsongs/mp3s/2000s/2000-by-popular-demand-vol-2--seamus-kennedy-(CD)/09-mcdonald-s-kitchen.htm
  8. They get their meat from frozen boxes shipped from corporate. Also, the frozen boxes contain kitten meat. That's a fact. Which is why I do not eat at KFC as I am a cat owner.

We've explored nothing except our own arrogance. There is plenty to learn and explore, not only physically. I for one explore our humanity and what has binded humans together for thousands of years. Others might explore the mind, or the cell, or medicine, energy conservation. We have got a long way to go before the "final frontier."
  10. I think it's safe to say that it annoys the hell out of anyone when people use internet terms in real life.
  11. Not only are we dumb [wagon] but we get giggles out of it, too.
  12. Nothing in life annoys me more than the twss smiley. I am all for a death penalty regarding it's use. Any time I see it in a post, my opinion of the user automatically becomes "dumb [wagon]." No exceptions.
  13. I know it does use Facebook to massmessage your friends to spread itself. Not sure exactly what it does but I imagine it collects all the personal information on Facebook like address, phone number and all that, and then they sell it. The first iteration of the worm told people that the user had found their picture on a random website and you want to click it to know where your picture is being posted.
  14. I know at least two people who got suckered into this. The worst part is that most people are idiots enough to click the links and spread it. But they do word it pretty well. I have to admit I clicked on it at first (thank god the virus scanner was on call.) A lot of sociological study went into making this thing work, and they did a good job of it.
  15. You could always enjoy the multitude of options to play with now. Like I said, we as Scapers are spoiled because we get almost weekly updates while most games make do with an update every few months. With all the new content, Jagex needs to slow down and make sure everything works, not only with bug fixes but balance adjustments and make sure their game is consistent.
  16. Yeah, and it was an Evil Tree. And Soul Wars was a mini-game I won't ever play, though I don't say it's bad, just not my thing. This game is getting dull for me. Then stop playing and move on. Seriously. Nobody is forcing you to play the game.
  17. We are also bound by free will. A blessing and a curse. You can not blame God for the actions of another person, who also has free will.
  18. While this is a rather grim take on it, pretty much. Read the few verses in Genesis about the expulsion from Eden.
  19. Because they are [roosters]...who are fighting? I don't quite see what's wrong with the name there. The word [rooster] has meant rooster for thousands of years in many languages. The reference to one's penis is a fairly recent (like 50 years) invention.

    1) Do you think video games affect peoples opinion on war?. 2) If your country was attacked, would it make you join the army? 3) Do you think there will be a World War 3 in your lifetime? 4) What do you think you could do to prevent war? 5) What do you think is the major cause of wars? 1) I do. Mostly in the sense that kids think war is just like the game and "first shot off wins." It's not. But it does affect their opinions, yes. 2) If there was a draft, likely yes. I'm not very qualified to do much in the military aside from intelligence. There's just as much work to be done on the homefront. 3) I don't know why everyone applies the stigma of nukes to a third World War. I think we are minutes away from it happening in a political sense. I doubt nuclear arsenals would be unleashed, however. 4) Is there really a way to stop it? The causes for war are multi-faceted. You as one person can not hope to stop it from happening. Working with others is how you do it. Which generally involves wheeling-dealing with other nations which sets up for yet another war. 5) A blend of radical nationalism, a charismatic or authoritative ruler, and sometimes mental instability in the preceding. Religion, greed, and money are not causes for war, merely excuses for the above three. 23, male, historian
  21. It's called theology. A study which requires you to be open minded and willing to analyze and view opposing viewpoints out of your comfort zone. Something many people in this discussion would not be willing to study. Not a question you can ask without doing your homework.
  22. Or off a cliff, or onto a highway. Sheep are dumb.
  23. I think that if you act in accordance with what other people think instead of what you feel, you are becoming a slave to the vocal minority. There's nothing gay about it. Someone got jealous one day and decided to say "that's gay" and people in their infinite need to be accepted by others thought "well I'm not gay, I'm not going to hug/be friendly with guys!" As smart as humans profess to be, we are all sheep. If one makes a move towards the wolves' den, we are all going to go along with them out of fear of being left behind. It doesn't matter *what" the matter is, the human desire for acceptance is that strong. Whether it's following a particular religion, denying said religion, or thinking that guys hugging is "gay." I could throw all sorts of anthropological, sociological, or historical analysis into this phenomenon (Kuhnes would be a good start if you were curious) but meh. Peer pressure for the lose. We are not sheep or crows, darnit. Wake up.
  24. Hey now, some of us got quality educations there. Are there are far worse places to go if you don't want to be bored. Like SFA. Working on my MA here and I literally have to drive 30 miles to see a movie or go to Target. Be careful with UT-A. Some majors are good but others like History are absolutely terrible. Like, not diverse at all. UT is essentially what money can do to a college. For all the requirements to get in, you might as well just go to Rice.
  25. My best friend and I are hardly "gay" and we hug occasionally after not seeing one another for a very long time or if we are about to be separated for a long time. Because we are good friends and do love (as in the friendly kind) each other. Now, it certainly is a "man" hug but that's besides the point :P. There is nothing wrong with being friendly with a guy. If someone tells you otherwise, they are an idiot who sells themselves short on friends. Strike three, yerr'out!
