I already know that the problem is the graphics card, but I would still like to know what you think and if you would think it could be something else. Basically, Ubuntu crashed when I was playing Minecraft, and then I went on Windows. Same kind of crash, but it did show a bsod which I have took a picture with my cellphone; [hide] [/hide] Basically it pretty much looks like my graphics card is either overheating or is close to dying, since the same happened (without the bsod) on other games as well, and no big games. I very recently cleared the dust out of this computer, so I do not think dust would be causing this. Please give me your thoughts on this. I already know a few things that I am going to try. It used to be in a computer that would keep on overheating, so the card already took a beating in there, and I believe it is 4 years old now. Asus is also a very good brand to look at. I suggest staying away from Dell as a lot of their newer computers tend to break fast.

There is also the fact that there is 1 party on one side and 2 on the other. I do know that in my province, in a lot of regions the anti-conservative votes actually played FOR the conservatives. For example one area had 60% of votes for NDP and Liberal, while there was only 34% conservative, but the votes being too divided between Liberal and NDP, the conservative is the one that got in. That is a huge problem. If you think Harper is going to do an adequate job, look at what he already did. Democracy took hits, and he is cutting the services to minorities, including French minorities accross Canada. Also, why did he go for the F-35 which cost 135M+ according to the American government, when there are some from other countries that cost much less! Also boosting the military as he does, is huge spending. When you say other parties spend a lot, so does the conservatives. They ALL do that, so it always is the same anyway.

I guess a lot of Canada prefers americanism over democracy... Guess I'm going to start looking for jobs in Europe.

Thing is, it's hard to choose who to vote for this time, as there is the anti-democratic Harper government, and then there's the other parties, and any party that gets elected, it usually all comes to the same. Too much spending. Just spending on different stuff. No matter the party. This is why the voting rates are getting so low, people don't know who to vote for and they want change. This is probably why there is a popularity push for NDP this time, because voting for any government is the same, and that by voting NDP it can make things change. On my part, I have voted.

I see a Safari browser exploit from Pwn2Own 2008 and I see videos instructing the user to boot from separate media to change a password; I don't think setting up TeamViewer really warrants discussion. In the latter case, physical security has been breached; I have personally done the same thing on Windows and Linux, and I don't see why you'd bother mentioning it. Pointing at Safari is like highlighting IE's vulnerabilities. Just take whatever defense you may have of Windows at the mention of one of IE's failures and s/Windows/OS X/ and s/IE/Safari/. I expect you'll come up with something that looks like this: "Safari may come with OS X, but that doesn't mean you can't install a different browser. It doesn't mean the whole OS is bad." Unless you can provide something a little more recent and relevant, I call BS. edit: Here's a relevant Slashdot discussion on antivirus for OS X and (inevitably) GNU/Linux. It pretty much boils down to "Uh, we don't need it" and "Well, you should still scan for files which might infect Windows users" I mentionned it simply to point out to the mac fanboys that the OS isn't perfect either. It is just like the Other OSes and can be hacked just as much.

While my 02 Toyota has 300k+ Km, never broke down, and still has the original clutch. Just like your dell computer that failed, making dells terrible? I now believe you are hired by a Japanese company to scare people away from American products :P Of all the Dells I've seen most of them failed. Simple example is out of the 11 brand new computers we had at work, all Dells, 7 of them had parts changed (motherboard for 2 of them) The computers are only 7 months old. And I wonder why you say Japanese, as far as I know Asus is not from Japan.

Harper is also spending a lot of money, just hiding it from everyone, just look at the military. I am certainly not voting Conservatives, even if they have the better ideas because they are anti-democratic as far as I've seen. Also the quantity of scandals they had surpasses the scandal that Liberal had a while ago. Almost one coming up per day for a good part of the election period. I am not going to say who I'm voting for, but you already know it's not conservative.

Can you post some links, please? Just to satisfy my curiosity. No links. Just experience and logic. The more the userbase grows, the more people will be willing to create malware for the OS. Obviously Mac is starting to grow a bit on their computer end, which means more people will want to make malware to get the information from mac users. It's already enough that a hacker can get into a mac in 1 minute (if you don't believe me on this one, check youtube).

I like what I think is good. Thing is, I find a lot of mainstream stuff lack quality and are just there to make money. If it wasn't the case there would be more quality and competition between the mainstream stuff, and that would make it more interesting. I don't hate mainstream, I just keep myself out of mainstream stuff.

More and more viruses on macs, I wonder how you guys will feel when you need to re-install because of viruses.

I've thought about civics, but I'd never hear the end of it if I ended up getting one. I'd like to get a car that looks nice too, and I can't stand that boxy look on the older models. Don't know where you guys live, but here I can get an automatic 07 Cobalt for 6500$, or a manual one for 5500$. If the car loses value as fast as that, only means it's not a good car to buy as first car. You want something reliable that you will be able to sell afterwords when you buy your first new car.

Or you could go for some cars like small early 2000 Toyotas or something. They're pretty good too, such as my Toyota echo with 300 000 km that never broke down and that I have only put about $150 in repairs in 2 years (exaust pipe, but is good for a long while now).

Good thing I have an LG Keybo. Not a smartphone, but that's all I can afford until my contract is up.

All you need is some Objective C/C++ knowledge. Because it a) costs money to develop for iOS b) you need a mac. To develop it yourself its free and you can always use a virtual hackintosh. You have to pay for the development kit, unlike Open-source/Windows programs.

Yes, because the fault for any client-side crash automatically resides with Jagex, who should be able to guarantee that their software runs flawlessly on every one of the hundred million machines that have tried. Seriously, Y_Guy, if Jagex weren't letting their 'Hardware Graphics Acceleration' ('HGA' for short) code do something that has a negative effect against their own 'File I/O' code, whose effect shows severely on older systems, then I wouldn't be pinning the fault against Jagex. (I've actually got a few hs_err_pid logs of my own, thanks to such.) As it stands, I'm personally now sitting with one PC that can't run RuneScape in any mode but Safe Mode without landing in a situation where it can't garbage collect properly after the RS Applet shuts down, simply because the HGA code isn't being handled properly by the Jagex-made RS Applet. Further, Jagex deprecated OpenGL 1.3 (generally the best point to initialize HGA from, IMHO) and DirectX 9a/9b (possibly DX 9c as well now, seeing as this PC here can't use either HGA mode) as to what they support, which is now causing havoc (such as crashes, failed starts, and total inability to use renderers including the "Software" Renderer) for more people than they intended. <_< Yeah, yeah, I know about the whole "For Progress!" thing that's going around. Jagex could still have done better with their code and bleed-over avoidance, and even designed their renderers to scale up from a lesser point. That would have enabled older systems to have the rendering mode minus all the nice effects that later cards can use, and still allow the later cards to render everything they can. And yes, it would have as equally ensured that their code could run flawlessly... Jagex's so-called "Engine Team" just wasn't willing to put themselves out to spend the time/work to do it right. :rolleyes: Now, pardon me while I go back to waiting for an answer from Starr about their issue. -.- ~D. I don't know how Y_Guy was inflamatory right there, he was just mentioning. And if you don't want to crash and these "new" features, maybe you should think about updating your Java version. You always brag about your old Java version being stable, but you have to keep with the times. Your Java version is simply too out of date and will not have everything that the game needs to run appart from the safe mode. I have an up to date Java (well, at least to the last updates since I don't always update it) and the game runs flawlessly on all 3 of my computers. I do, however, mostly play on my main computer which is the newest (1 year old), when I do play Rs.

I have had extremely bad experiences with Kingston, so to me it is a no-no, but I would recommend Corsair anyday.

Yeah, I have a socket 939 Athlon 64 X2 around here somewhere. And to bring this point even futher, my Athlon64 X2 on my old computer is on the AM2 socket. Same processor different socket lol. (Not actually the same processor, but the same name).

Blue screens on Windows are generally coming from bad drivers or bad RAM. Most of the time it isn't even something coming from the OS, so don't go about [bleep]ing Windows because of this. That said, I have never had a Blue screen on the Vista installation on my old computer, or the Windows 7 Pro installation that is on my laptop (fresh install a few days after it came out), or the Windows 7 Ultimate installation that I have on my computer I built 1 year ago. Anyway I do prefer a Linux distro over Windows though, but I guess it's for different reasons than you. And if you weren't serious, I'm sure some people would take you seriously.
