I see. I guess you have a tv that doesn't really follow the standards. The thing I think is that there's a chance that even with this converter you won't be able to get that special resolution.

Why would you want to use HDMI with it though, there's almost no difference between those component (5 colors) and HDMI. In my way of thinking using a converter isn't necessary, just use the cables that come with it. I have one of those HD PVR and it'll record in whatever you put.

I agree on the no signal being extremely annoying. I was on the road for over 1600 Km in the last few days and the majority of people aren't using them...

Hi Guys, I recently went on a trip, and the camera was recording on small dvds and what looks like the real dvd format. I would like to know what programs you guys like to use when you go about ripping those videos from the small dvds, when on the computer. These can be programs on Windows or Linux (I use Ubuntu 10.10). Thanks.

Might be recent since 3 years ago when I bought my Asus there was only like 2 or 3 bloatware programs.

It rained for 3 weeks straight where I live, until 2 days ago. Good thing we're just on the side of the Bay of Fundy or else we'd have some flooding, like the guys that are more inside the country. Was enough to drown the crops (seed didn't do anything because of the amount of water). They'll have to seed again and it is starting to be late in the season.

Not sure how when they are all running the same benchmarks. Far much better than "well, I have a feeling that this one is better so you should get this one." So far, my experience has proven that this feeling thing has been more reliable than the benchmarks. Do you really think the viruses in the benchmarks are the viruses people actually use? Huh? And people don't generally use viruses, but yes, I do. This is hilarious! You actually thought I was saying people use viruses? XD You do know that what I meant was the viruses they use to test the antiviruses? LOL

I don't have a soldering iron, nor do I have any experience at it. I'd probably just end up breaking it even more if I tried.

I haven't kept myself current enough to tell you, to be honest, but I had been an Avira user for the last few years, and I feel it fell down and that it isn't a good antivirus anymore, and hasn't been in a while. I have Avast on my desktop, Avira on my old desktop (which I will be uninstalling soon for another one) and MSE on my laptop. For now I feel that Avast and MSE are pretty equal. Not really sure how you can "...feel it [falling] down..." According to AV Comparatives [PDF], not only did MSE get the slowest scanning time, but it missed far more pieces of malware when compared to Avira. In fact, about the only thing MSE scored well in was the number of false positives. In scanning speed and detection, Avast trumped both, but increased the number of false positives. Scan times don't bother me, I can still run whatever I want at the same time. What I feel by falling down is that I wasn't getting anything blocked anymore (although I knew they weren't viruses as I was running them myself.

I would drop Avira and get something else like MSE or Avast.

I've had dells, and although I now have a different laptop, they were extremely hard to break. Old Dells still hold strong, but newer Dells for the most part will break easily. All the computers at work (except one HP) are Dells, the old Dells are still holing strong and not having any issues. On the 15 new Dells though, most of those being 7 months old, over half had parts changed including the motherboard on 2 of them.

Asus comes with minimal bloatware, at least that's the experience I had with my laptop, almost no trial programs. Also they have extreme quality, my 3 year old Asus still holds the quality enough to easily compete with one of my friend's brand new Dell.

We're getting gouged by the petrol companies... Petrol prices went down this week, yet the price at the pump is still rising 10 cents/L here in New Brunswick, Canada.

Actually, look at Nickleback. Mentioning you like them on the internet is a death sentence, it's hard to overstate how utterly loathed they are If hate for them was any bigger, it would collapse in on itself and create a black hole. But they're popular. Sure, they've got a huge hate-base, but they have a bigger fanbase. They're not catering to us self-righteous internet folk, they're catering to them, and it's pretty much guaranteed that none of those guys will ever have to have a real job. And with Rebecca Black, let's be honest, you probably don't know anyone that hasn't heard of her. She's a celebrity, and she's probably going to be able to reap whatever rewards a celebrity of her status can. Who's Rebecca Black, I've never heard of her...

The Windows defrag tool has never been fast and isn't the best. I would suggest using a program such as defraggler, which will detect the drive when the windows one won't.

Type R refers to integra type R. And they're pretty much everywhere on the streets. I don't see many around here, let alone other than the type r. I would still repeat what Iamdan said here.

I think the PS3 is pretty hard to beat if you want to upgrade your computer to beat it, because of the way it is built, but since a lot of the games are multi-platform you might still have worse graphics than on the computer if you upgrade, depending on the other computer parts.

You're not the first one to tell me this, but I am not willing to try just because of the rate of failure. I think for now I will just make it last as long as I can (anyway I have an xbox, which I use most of the time for games), and probably will buy this card which I think is still an upgrade from the one I have, and costs a bit less because it's a bit lower end than what people usually buy, plus it's an older model. This way I can still sell my old card for almost nothing to someone that is willing to try to repair it.
