I'm 98% sure that is a urban myth and/or something they tell you in school. Although with ecstacy I've heard that happen to some girl who drank too much water 'cause she was told that she needed to drink some water while doing ecstacy. Though that might be an urban myth too.

I never understand why people say nicotine is the most addicting thing out there. Why would that be? How is it calculated? I'm pretty damn sure if you used heroin for 10 years and then tried to quit it, it would be harder than quitting nicotine. And smoking kind of sucks, though most of my family does it. But there's that other plant there. Which I have nothing to do with. :)

Yes. And neither was USSR a communist country. At best some sort of a fugly mutation of http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/State_capitalism, a bit of badly managed socialism and dictatorship. Although the short era of Lenin wasn't that bad. Lenin actually said he never wanted Stalin to become a president. But let's not start talking about USSR here. [/semiofftopic]

Wow you should be thankful, I live in England and it is a perfect place to live. We have the greatest Wellfare state in the world. We still have a monarchy yet have the best democracy. We conquered the world and had the greatest empire ever known. We're an island with a great strategic postion. As well a prosperous economy. What could you possibly not like about Britain? I live in Finland. And from what I've read, we have a better welfare system (More stuff free? How do you rate it :-s ) than you guys. Also, how do you rate democracy? And for that greatest empire, one could argue it was only bad what you did.

Why not? I've seen him do good for the most of the population of Venezuela. Maybe not for the oil-owners/americans but meh, it's Venezuela, not USA.

First, cigarettes have like 4000 thousand chemicals. (That's what my heatlth education book tells me) And secondly, that HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH ANYTHING! WHEE! Your average hamburger with fries has the same amount.. Or a steak or something. The amount of chemicals has nothing to do with anything. Christ. Try thinking for yourself for once. And if someone's ignorant enough to claim nicotine has no effect on you, he isn't worth listening to in this kind of conversation. Ps. This might seem like I'm defending smoking, but I'm not, I don't smoke. I'm also not trying to flame anyone, even if it might look like that. :

I dislike people who whate smokers, they whine about 2nd hand smoke, that's health concerns have been greatly exaggerated. And you can avoid it too if you really want to. Cars & other pollution do much more damage. Smoking cigarettes relaxes you and so on, so it isn't "purely psychological". It's nicotine going to your brains. I don't smoke but I don't condemn people that do. My parents + a lot of my relatives smoke. Of course I've tried smoking, but I don't like the effects that much so meh. A joint is a different thing with your friends sometimes. It isn't good for your health, but meh, alot of things aren't too. And you do them. :ohnoes:

Venenzuela, Hugo Chavez. I think he's one of the best socialist leaders in a long time. He has done good job for the majority of the people, and I think that's what counts, not the oillords. USA been pretty pissed about not getting their oil? Or so I've heard. I think Communism may not work for a long time in our society, but a mix of socialism/capitalism with a lot more socialism might be the best option. The welfare system here in scandinavia works pretty good, and it's a part of the leftist/socialist ideals. Pretty messy post, because of umm... :-$

Am I the only person typing BBCode tags by hand and finding it faster than pressing the buttons?! Or am I just mad... I've been doing that since ages ago. I just did that with the above quote too, and the former underline. You're not the only one. I think it's faster not to click the buttons, when you don't have to move your hand to the mouse. Or something. I posted this post without looking at the keyboard. Woohoo.

Cheer up - Bob Marle :-k Fool In The Rain - Led Zeppelin This cheers me up. :)

If you're thinking about ever getting linux/dual booting with it, Nvidia would be better. They offer better drivers for linux. :) And I'd prefer amd, better bang for the buck. But I don't that you're sister needs that kind of computer for Far Cry & Colin mcrae 2k6. Although I'm not sure about mcrae, never played, but Far Cry would do with -500$ computer easily.

I thought most of the people would've been right wingish but better this way. :) Economic Left/Right: -7.00 Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -4.97 np. John Lennon - Power to the People :P

I've had a creative zen, and it has worked pretty well for me. Though it had to get repaired once but I had warranty. I think they're all pretty keen on braking up. -.-

Somehow, I sincerely doubt he killed his parents over a marijuana addiction. It's not heroin, it's not crack, and it certainly isn't ecstacy. It is, if you look on the effects, less dangerous than alcohol. I see no reason of why it should be illegal, but then again, nor do I see a reason why my tax money should be used to pay healthcare for people with alcohol related health issues. Yeah, Marijuana doesn't do anything like that. And psychological addiction means you just want to have the drug, like you wanna have a hamburger. And most of the people that smoke marijuana don't even become psychologically addicted, it's just the small minority with easily-addicted personalities. Which probably shouldn't use any drug, legal or not, anyway.

Edited your statement to make it more accurate :D It's more accurate, but still, there are lots of cases of kids who were born into terrible social poverty and difficulties, but managed to rise out of it and really make something of their lives. You don't have to be born into privelege to succeed, it just helps (sometimes). No, I'm not from America. I'm from Finland. A terribly welfare state, in which I hate to live! I only get best education, free health care, free defntal care 'till 18, free everything. And we don't mind the taxes. All for equality and equal chances as much as possible. And yes, everybody CAN succeed in America, if they HAPPEN to be LUCKY to be born in a priviledged family. (Of course you can succeed if your poor, but it's a lot harder 'cause you can't even get good enough education.)

Haha, good ol' scientology. :D "300$ for class a heaven, 200$ for b class!" A very amusing 'religion' anyways. Should be banned imo, it just harms people. And what comes to other religions, no, they are false too. No one can't part a sea. It's a matter of faith. :)

Why do you base things that bad around things that are "illegal"? Legality has NOTHING to do with the ehtics of the situation. It is impossible to say that all things that are illegal are bad. How? Because someone that passed it while you weren't alive pre-formed your opinions on the subject. So please step back and dont judge things on the legality of them. Many eople confuse this issue and decide that since its illegal or frowned upon that it is bad. Legality has no effect on the negativity of it. Think about it. Correct. And laws are just (mostly) based on the publics opinioin, and the publics opinion can be easily changed with enough money. (and power(but money is power too so))

And the difference is...? The difference is there won't be any kind of addiction for most of the people. Including me. Including ~5 of my friends. Including the vast majority of marijuana smokers. Maybe that? :

Wrong, wrong, wrong. I'll say it once again to you. Better food, better dental care and health services don't affect the rest of your life. If you're from a poor family, should it be so, that you can never even get to a better job? Never get to be 'rich' by your own merits? And to that one guy who said that thing about communism. What's so totally wrong with communism? And btw, CCCP was a totalitarian country with a bit of badly managed socialism in it. The Nordic countries have the highest level of education, and they're the most succesful welfare(read socialism/communism) states in the world. Read that twice and try to comprehend.
-
Wouldn't that just inspire people to use bongs? And then if they taxed them, homemade bongs? Also I'm pretty certain you couldn't tax roach - all of my friends who smoke weed just use any card that is lying around. Using a bong is just better, it's not as harmful as your lungs. :) And viktorkrum, huh? Couldn't understand. :-k

I really don't agree with that. Let's, hypothetically speaking, take that to be law. Parents cannot have an effect on your possibilities in life whatsoever. Alright, so they can't put you in a school, because that's having an effect on your possibilities in life. They can't give you advice on what to do in life, because that's affecting your possibilities. See what I'm getting at? If you read all that, thank god this wasn't for nothing. I read it. \ And no, I'm not really seeing what you're getting, no, not at all. Giving advice to children is not something that'll drastically change something in the kids life, and that and public/private-school discussion is not in any way comparable. I think it is totally wrong in every sence that someone succees 'better' at life because his/her parents happened to be rich. The kid had nothing to do with it, so he should just be equal to everyone else, at least in education. And btw, I don't think everyone that goes to a private school is a rich brat, just a way to get posts. I firmly believe everyone should be equal regardless what their parents/someone else/ did for them. In my opinion, private/public schools just make the gap between rich/poor people wider. And someone earlier compared this with steaks, but that is just idiotic. Having a steak doesn't effect the rest of your life, or chances of getting a job. Going to a private school (usually) does. Get some frickin' arguments. "Finnish 15-year-olds score first in the industrial world on comparative tests of their academic abilities." - Washington Post http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/08/05/AR2005080502015_3.html And Finland doesn't have any private schools, only public. All free.
-
Definately against, now and forever. There's absolutely nothing I can even stand in private schools. I can't see what's so damn great about not giving even a chance for the poorer kids? Hell, they could be a lot smarter than the rich brats, but the ritch brats just get to go to a better school. Totally unfair, you're parents shouldn't have an effect on your possibilities in life, everybody should have equal chances. But then, in here (Finland), we don't have any private schools, so everybody goes to a public school. And uh-oh, we have the best educational system in the whole world. :) Public is the future!
-
Hope it'll be legalized there, other states/countrys could follow. \ And to the "Future smoke-addict" post: Cannabis doesn't cause physical addiction, only psychological. : On the other hand, alcohol, has much worse effects on body & mind. Alcohol also has physical addiction, and withdrawal from alcohol can actually kill you.

Kill every other baby girl, problem solved. Considering Bush, no, clearly not. We have a female president here in Finland, I think she's been pretty good. I think the "contentment-procent" (Don't know the world in english :-k ) is higher than ever before (or at the same level) with our president. Though don't take that as a fact, it's just something I remember hearing..
