  1. The irresponsible J-mod that posted that autotyping "could be okay" is most likely the reason it is so widespread and at the absurd level it is right now. Let's assume people are using autotyper programs instead of key macros(RS is far from a complex game, I would not expect the majority to have gaming keyboards), this means that thousands of people have gone to botting forums in order to get the software needed. What does this mean? It means that a large amount of players who have sought a program to make their lives easier, now have a source for programs that can make their lives easier. One form of macroing can't be worse than another, right? Right? Not all people will jump from autotypers to full blown goldfarming bots, but I'm sure a number will consider it. Jagex has never been ontop of the botting situation, they've even gone years without any noticeable action, surely they can get away with it on the 07 servers where there is a small team managing it, right? Point is, when you open that door, it stays open.
  2. I picked mine up after the first username clearance. 1-3 letter names are usually dumb, made up of random letters/numbers just so they can make a short name... At least mine is referencing something. [hide][/hide]
  3. Ah, right, thanks. I just got another one saying that my boat sprung a leak and had to break up the lifeboats to repair it.. Worrisome, and confusing since it was a 100% mission. Glad it's just filler.
  4. Anyone know what that means? I couldn't find anything wrong with my voyage, it returned successfully.. But I don't want to mess something up.
  5. I am glad I got my void pieces before dbags came. There is a bug where the boat will crash if someone sets up an achievement spammer from sgs. Someone did that too. I saw a bunch of people were doing emotes and joined in, then realised what was going on, ended up going to do some mid tier games while the storm blew over.
  6. People were spamming emotes and broke the boat. Good stuff. It was broken for about 20 minutes. Not particularly wise since it ruined their own gain, but still amusing.
  7. The single biggest reason that skilling is not profitable is because of bots. Skilling is by far the easiest thing to do as a bot. Look at the most profitable money making methods, you cannot bot them. High level PvM, merchanting, etc. Get rid of bots, and long term, skilling will be worth something again. That being said, good luck seeing that ever happen.
  8. I, three, as a 9 year veteran, think this is pretty much commonplace opinion, the only real difference is the '9 year veteran' tag. The obvious answer here is that people are unwilling to learn the new changes, because they are really very simple. 5 minutes to learn what is different and you're set for good. I've played a lot of MMOs, and have been wondering what RS would be like with keybinds for years. It's much better for combat, honestly. I never even tried the beta, just jumped into the live game and picked it up about a minute after reading the ability tooltips. That said, there are definitely some bad things about EoC, but those will be fixed in time(looking at you, targetting system).
  9. Like I've said numerous times already, the reasoning behind the rule is why it is there. It doesn't matter if real world consequences are more severe, it just shares the same logic.
  10. tl;dr: You're lecturing me about what's "reasonable" while lacking even the most basic concept of reasonable risk management. Okay, I take it that you cannot come up with an argument and are just backpeddling That *is* an argument. Certainly a better one than "herp derp, I can change a word of a book title to "dumb" and say it hoping it's a witty insult that wins me the argument, herp derp". Your argument is this: 1) It's possible to get incredibly bad luck in a game which is all about manipulating probability. 2) Therefore, anyone who does it is "shades of dumb", "not a reasonable thinker", etc etc. (What's next, calling them a pee-pee head?) This is a self-evidently bad argument. If you need me to spoonfeed you why, you don't deserve to be told. It's not the sort of thing you need to be CEO of an insurance company to understand. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_n5E7feJHw0 I'm not arguing what your point was, I'm just saying that it is a bad idea to do things that way. It's the same deal as a loaded question. No matter what the response is, people have already been given a subconscious negative image of you. That's how politics work these days, it's why no one tries to make their campaign solely on making themselves look good, but rather making the other person look bad. If a news story comes out that someone has done something reprehensible, it doesn't matter if it turns out to be false, the seed was already planted.
  11. tl;dr: You're lecturing me about what's "reasonable" while lacking even the most basic concept of reasonable risk management. Okay, I take it that you cannot come up with an argument and are just backpeddling, there isn't much more to be said and I don't think you'll accept a different point of view anyway, so I guess I'll stop posting. Nothing against 999134, I don't know him at all, but I have seen him post several "FML I got cleaned, gonna quit now" videos and such in the random pics thread.
  12. You're picking different points from different posts. Stop doing that. The posts are responding to different logic. I'm not saying 999134 is trying to fake something, I'm saying that it has been done before by people, and will be done by people in the future. This is fact. That is one of the reasons why the rule is there. People DO make scare tactic posts, whether that be here or elsewhere. Those get deleted, this thread was just edited to remove the naming part, which included the video. 999134 can upload an edited version with names removed if he pleases. The innocent until proven guilty reasoning doesn't matter where the topic takes place, the reasoning behind it is the same. I didn't make the rules for the site, I'm just telling people why it is there. If you don't like it, so be it. It's not up to you, or me. Shades of grey, my friend, or perhaps shades of dumb. Everything in Runescape combat is based on luck, no matter what you do, it is all based on luck. Randomly generated numbers are the only outcome of a fight. The best possible scenario you can get, is to get lucky numbers. You can use your abilities, prayers, food, it doesn't matter, you can hit zero every single time if your random number generation is bad. That is why your best possible scenario involves taking a incredibly unadvised risk. That is not the actions of an intelligent person. (Most)Real world casinos are required by law to enforce fair outcomes for their bets, this is not the case for staking in Runescape. For many years rule switching has been commonplace for staking for people to scam each other, this is common knowledge. Bug abuse in staking has been around the entirety of free trade, there are trillions of GP made from it and are showboated after the methods are patched, E.G. HaxUnit. Anyone who stakes a serious amount of a wager should know that this is a huge risk because there are new methods coming out constantly because of Jagex's poor quality testing. Considering both of the under-handed activity and just plain fundamentals of staking, you are not a reasonable thinker to attempt it, so my point stands.
  13. Yeah, you're a total idiot if you use a game feature how it was intended to be used. When information about it working incorrectly is being deliberately withheld from you because the evidence for it just happens to implicate someone in a crime they're pretty much 100% guilty of. There are frequently going to be bugs present in the duel arena. There's never any certainty that there won't be any, especially given how long it takes them to fix some of this stuff. By this logic, anyone who ever stakes for any reason is an idiot, in which case Jagex should just remove the Duel Arena since it's content that only exists for the purpose of scamming people. It's funny that you're trying to act so condescendingly and in such a facetious way, but you really are a 'total idiot' for doing those things. I'm not against spreading warnings about bug abuse, I've never even hinted that I was. But you can't just let everyone make accusations about whatever they please, this is a very obvious and established reason. The very reason why the term 'slandering' was coined. Gambling is a risk, an entirely unnecssary risk that has and will continue to 'clean' people and have them quit, whether that be to legitimate reasons or not. Any staker that has had this happen to them will tell you that you're a 'total idiot' for staking, anyone who says otherwise has just yet to realise it. It's the same thing as dicing, just hoping to get rich quick with little to no effort. And no, I've never lost money staking.
  14. The rule applies for the same reason as it does in real life. You can make doctored screenshots, use private servers, etc. to make it look like someone is guilty. Any person of interest, whether it be a youtuber, high score rank, or personal enemy can be made a target. It doesn't matter if you think it isn't likely, because it can and has happened countless times. I can accuse you of drowning cats, if you don't believe in being innocent until proven guilty, then you are guilty. Do I have any proof of that? No. But by your belief, I don't need it. You can keep yourself safe without knowing who in particular is malicious simply by not being an idiot. Don't stake, don't gamble, don't take deals that seem to good to be true, don't trust trade, all very basic stuff.
  15. The purpose of the rule is because you can call out anyone for something with or without proof otherwise. The 'without' part is why the rule exists.
  16. Staking glitch abuse is a risk in gambling during regular times. Right now, there is no reason to risk staking. This shouldn't be a shock to anyone. Just don't do it. Seriously. Be smart.
  17. Just to point out for you, dealing the most damage is NOT how drops are given now. It is who ever attacks it first. The real question is, does this apply when the first attacker is below 99 slayer on a Gazer... That was how it was working yesterday, that was not the case with this kill. I killed it and it dropped on the floor straight away, I was ranging and the other person was meleeing, so they got to it faster. Both 99 slayer. Unspam: Doric and Boric, your incredibly mundane tasks are complete. ^Stats
  18. Getting into dungeoneering with the EoC, the increased spawn rate of Edimmu and Soulgazers proved miraculous as I got both in one floor. I got the kill but it dropped for both me and this other guy, he takes it and proceeds to try and give it to everyone but me even though it was my kill. I was the only one who ended up wanting it so he gave it to me, eventually. The douche had the gall to be condescending at the end while I was binding too. Guess that's W114 for ya, still better than W77 though.
  19. *Facepalm* Firstly noone is complaining. I simply stated that I found it to be Annoying, the Ads do pay for the F2Per's but it isn't needed since they have other Ads all around there Website. Oh and they aren't 10 Seconds, they range from 20 - 40 Seconds per World hop. Uhm yeah I for sure would Complain and I bet you would aswell. Also no need to write a novel about how much you agree with the Ads, Thanks. Today my sister called me up because she needed help with her Spanish homework. The worksheet required her to fill in the missing part of a sentence using a hint. For one particular question, the hint was decir lo que te molesta (to say what bothers you). The answer, of course, was quejarse, or to complain. So if you "stated that I found it to be Annoying", then you complained, because, well, that's what complaining is. +10 internets to you.
  20. I honestly don't understand how someone can complain about being given the privelege of playing a game at no expense of their own.
  21. Mine is currently "Bubble maker".
  22. ....Sorry that I'm 2 pages late! Been catching up with this thread as I can't sleep :P Anyways.... This is all I thought when I saw that pic above in hide tags: Guthan's helm is too Skyrim-y... Next thing y'know we'll get some form of voice attack and soon be Fus Ro Dah-ing everything... Anyways, well excited for this weeks updates :) Seriously? Those types of helmets have been around for centuries, and you call them a skyrim rip-off? /facepalm
  23. I've owned several, years ago, all stolen by alleged friends. Haven't got one recently as I don't bot or gamble and can't afford them with the inflated price. I think the highest I ever paid for one was about 300mil for a white.
  24. I'm currently playing because I'm really close to max total, after that I'll quit until some major updates or skills come out, if not permanently.
