  1. Yeah on my route to 85 slayer Duradel seemed to give me Black Demons every other task and then Kalphites. Also Gargoyles seem to be another of his favorites. As for the guy who hates Abberent Spectres, don't be so silly. These are one of the best monsters in the game. Wear full prostelye, nose peg, and salve ammy (e). Mage prayer and you're sorted. Just as if you were wearing a black mask. I find 4 prayer pots(4) is more than enough to last me a full inven of decent herbs (ranarrs and above) and you are almost guaranteed to get 5 ranarrs back to pay for the pots used. Plus they give a pretty hefty slayer XP.
  2. Was thinking earlier about summoning and how much of a cash drain it is, but then I realised Jagex did say there would be other updates... Firstly they have stated the skill is "similar to prayer". Obviously in terms of combat level this is the case but after the release yesterday we found out it is also similar in the way you have to kill monsters for a drop, however you don't get bones, you get charms. No-one seems to have that much of an issue with this. Secondly, and the major issue to players, is the crystal shards needed, the 8 for the Dreadfowl means 400gp to make the pouch. Surely there is a better way to get these shards. Then it dawned on me that the Behind The Scenes article mentioned an update to the Isfandar area. Last time I checked there was a huge crystal building in Isfandar serving no purpose whatsoever. Maybe we will be able to make our shards there? Few points on this theory. 1. - Jagex are rewarding higher "skilled" players. 30k trade limit for all quests and Swan Song will give you fastest pouch making way in the game to name but 2. To access the Elven lands you need to be pretty highly skilled, this gives higher players the bonus of cheaper crystal where other players can still buy summoning if they wish. 2. - There is an obliesk is Isfandar. Why? Well out the way from a bank, nearest being Lleyta but even then its a long walk through a hazardous forest. If we do gain access to the Elven City (forget the name) there will no doubtedly be a bank there. 3. - There is too much money in the game. Construction went some way to ridding some of this. Hunter I believe was never really meant to be a serious money making skill. I think it was meant to be more like thieving, a bit of pocket money. However since someone discovered powertraining with Red Chinchompas it has been seriously profitable. Even further strength can be added to this argument when Jagex nerfed the red chins. Summoning is currently sapping money at what can be described an extorionate rate. Main reason for this? The crystal shards. 4. - February will bring the 2nd half of the skill and the end of January the update to Isfandar. This gives Jagex up to a month of getting rid of a lot of cash. What are your thoughts? Personally I have got Summoning to 16 and will keep it there until I know exactly what Jagex have planned. Until then I will carry on as I was.
  3. Still the fastest even if you have not done Swan Song. You can use the fairy ring code AKQ to get to and from Zanaris quite easily. It's about 1 screen north of the fairy ring, ladder symbol on map, just go down the trapdoor.
  4. 1. You will not get any XP from your familiars fighting. 2. You get the same XP from summoning a creature as you do making a scroll from a pouch. Easiest way to get to 16 is this: Buy 275 Pouches (stackable) = 275gp Buy 2200 shards (stackable) = 110k Buy 275 raw chickens from canafis = 2475gp You already have the charms from the reward. Total cost = 112,750k Now get a lunar/dramen staff and use fairy code AKQ to run to and from the Pictoris obleisk. You can take 25 chickens per run. Make the pouches into scrolls for the XP, faster than summoning 275 Dreadfowls. Voila level 16 summoning! Now we just need an easy way to train past this.
  5. SUMMONG You missed an IN there mate.
  6. To get to 16 summoning it cost's 112,475k. Included in that is 275 raw chickens bought from Canafis.
  7. Farming: Buy cabbage seeds, cheap and cheerful. How do all 4 allotments planting cabbages and whatever herb seeds you have. You can do this run about once every hour, be sure to use supercompost. Some will die, but there only cabbages. If you can farm a few trees for super fast XP. There are 9 tree plots. Buy acorns and apples if you don't have anything higher. Herblore: Do quests which give herblore XP Use the herbs you get from farming to make pots. Other ways to get herbs include, pest control and monster drops. If you can kill them, Abbernat Spectres are th ebest herb dropper in the game. You easily make up for prayer pots used. If not use Chaos Druids.
  8. I think it's when you enter Red Dragon Isle from the Members Wildy Gate. Got it from a google search (cached page) of the official forums. Can't view page 2 though as the original post was deleted.
  9. Get your PC wired to the router. Also if you are leeching someone else's bandwidth then it's pretty poor game.
  10. Qeltar can explain it better but it's merchanting which is causing the rapid rise and fall of prices. Merchants can now effectively watch the current market and buy sell accordingly because they know what player reaction will be. For example they buy yews 300ea, and know that the next day they will 310ea to buy. They then hold onto vast amounts of stock as each day the demand outstrips the amount of yews for sale. This then causes a negative effect as the price gets so high that sellers refuse to buy and the price then goes down. At this point the merchants panic and sell there vast amounts of logs in the hope of still making a proft. The market is then flooded, which accelerates the drop in price as the demand is not as high as the amount of logs for sale. I have noticed this with a few items, the most prolific currently being pure ess. Other "less popular" items I buy regularly are forever going up and down. I have got to the point where I horde items when they hit low prices so I don't get stung when they next rise. I am not a merchanter, so it is pretty annoying not having a stable market.
  11. ZMI is only about 30k per hour. Double cosmics is best for profit.
  12. MTK is cheapest way if you are buying. Farming is good if you have a stash of seeds. Kill Abby Spectres. The ranarr drops make up for the prayer pots used.
  13. Ok some hourly figures for the water filled vials method. I did this by having astrals in my inven and using a steam battlestaff. I started off with a full inven of empty vials and the spellbook open. I then started the timer and clicked the spell. You can bank approximetley 1/4 into the animation of the spell and the vials are all full. If you try it to early it wont open the bank. I then banked all filled vials and withdrew all empty ones. Clicked on the spell, then banked again. In 5 minutes I was able to fill 1053 vials, 39 casts. 1053 * 12 = 12,636 per hour. Using the maths in the above posts I get 317 profit per cast = 12,363 profit. 12,363 * 12 = 148,356k per hour profit. 39 casts * 65xp = 2535xp 2535 * 12 = 30,420 XP an hour. So to summarize this method will net you per hour: 148k profit 30k mage xp Not a bad little method if I do say so myself
  14. After the 197 with none I did e-mail Jagex. They replied with the usual "it's purely luck" garbage. Obviously it isn't if you dont get a drop in almost 200 kills, and it's meant to be semi-common.
  15. I did 197 without a single kwuarm. Not great XP but nice break from fighting harder monsters.
  16. Treat them as 2 separate rounds. Trees and allotments. Trees: 1. Start at Lumbridge (Tree) 2. Tele to Falador (Tree) 3. Run to Taverly (Tree) 4. Tele to Varrock (Tree) 5. Spirit tree to Gnome Stronghold (Fruit & Tree) 6. Spirit tree to Gnome Village (Fruit) 7. Teleport to Ardy & sail to Brimhaven (Fruit) 8 . Charter ship to Catherby (Fruit) Now whilst your in Catherby. Allotments: 1. Catherby 2. Run to Ardy 3. Duel to CW to bank if need be, if not tele to Trollheim. 3. Glory to Draynor 4. Ecto to Canafis Do a tree run once a day and an allotment run whenever you can. I'd buy some cabbage seeds to get a bit extra XP as your at the herb patches anyway. Always pay farmers to watch over trees and strawberries. Fitting In Specials: Mushroom - Do after Canafis allotment Cactus - After Draynor allotment Duel Ring to Al Kharid. Works as a bank too. Belladonna - Before the Draynor patch. Calquat - After the Brimhaven tree. May want to teleport back to Catherby after this. Spirit Tree - Use the patch in Port Sarim before the Draynor patch. Do not plant Calquat or Spirit trees if you are going to disconnect as you will need to keep an eye on them with your ammy of nature.
  17. Best way to train slayer is to wear: Black Mask (nothing else comes close) Fury/Glory Fire Cape/Trimmed Acheivement Cape/Achievement Cape Barrows Gloves/Dragon Gloves/Rune Gloves Guthans Body Guthans Skirt Ring of Wealth/Ring of Life Dragon Boots/Rune Boots Whip/Drag Scimmy (dependant on if you want to train Attack or Def/Strength Rune Defender/Dragonfire Shield I personally have in my inven, Slayer Gem, Shilo Gloves, 2 Super Str, 2 Super Atk, Guthans Spear and Guthans Helm. When you get to half life equip the Guthans pieces until you heal. It works out for me that when I repair the body and skirt (25%) the helm and spear are just 75%. Reduces costs a little bit more, for me it's about 140k per recharge.
  18. Problem exists between chair and keyboard.
  19. Another Lunar/GE tip: This one has pretty high requirements, though you profit lots and gain both mage and crafting XP. 1. Buy seaweed from GE 2. Buy buckets of sand from GE 3. Super Glass Make (77 Lunar spell) 13 seaweeds and 13 buckets of sand. 4. Rinse and Repeat. Even if you put the molten glass in GE at lowest price you will still profit. You also get up to 1.5 the molten glass you'd get normal glass making so thats extra profit. I am finding it harder to sell molten glass, though they do go eventually. Seaweed and Sand is easily obtainable from GE at lowest price. Works out (from memory) 130 crafting XP and 78 mage XP per 13 seaweed/sand. With this one wield air staff and have fire runes in inven. Maths for this one per cast: 13 * 351 (Seaweed) = 4563 13 * 83 (Sand) = 1079 6 * 10 (Fire Runes) = 60 2 * 142(Astral Runes) = 284 Total Cost = 5986 13 * 476(molten glass) = 6188 6188 - 5986 = 202 profit. Obviously your getting extra glass (up to 1.5x more) so this really bumps up the profit by 476 per extra one made. Usually the extras work out at about 5 per cast so thats an extra 2380k!
  20. Oh I forgot to mention it is slightly slower than high alching as you need to bank between casts. I am still working on time tests before I can give true figure though. You are profiting though which is always a bonus. Another tip is when using calculators use the high alch spell figures as it is the same XP.
  21. Been debating whether to tell people about this but it's too good a find not to really. I have found a way to get magic XP. Without losing money, and at a profit. 1. First of all you need 68 mage and be on Lunars. 2. Now buy 1k vials from the GE (I get thousands at 82ea) 3. Now use Humidify to fill the vials. Gets you same XP as a high alch. Best way is to use a steam battlestaff (only 1mil) and you get 27 done per astral rune. If not, use fire runes and a water staff as it is slightly cheaper. 4. Sell 1k water filled vials on GE. (I easily sell in less than 10 seconds for 99ea) So the maths per 27 vials (one cast) 27 * 82(vials) = 2214gp 1 * 142(astral rune) = 142gp 1 * 10(fire runes) = 10gp Total cost = 2366gp 27 * 99(water filled vials) = 2673gp 2673 - 2366 = 307gp profit per cast. If you have a steam staff then it's 317gp profit per cast. All this whilst getting the same XP as a high alch. With profit  I'd get in quick before this method becomes too common. Will only work when vials are less than water filled ones.( EDIT: I muffed up the maths for this as I was doing it from memory. Works out even better as you only use 1 fire rune and not 6. Also use a water staff if you don't have a steam staff. Air one is useless for this spell.
  22. This is a good way. Pretty high requirements, though you will not lose anything and gain both mage and crafting XP. Buy seaweed from GE Buy buckets of sand from GE Super Glass Make (77 Lunar spell) 13 seaweeds and 13 buckets of sand. Rinse and Repeat. Even if you put the molten glass in GE at lowest price you will still profit. You also get up to 1.5 the molten glass you'd get normal glass making. Works out (from memory) 130 crafting XP and 78 mage XP per 13 seaweed/sand.
  23. Guthans by far. The repair costs are dirt cheap with your smithing level.
  24. Slayer is always good to train combat. If you just want raw XP. I would take some anti's to Ape Atoll and pray there and attack the gorillas. Dharoking them works well also but don't forget the antis.
