School gets sued for sexual orientation discrimination
logic-is-overrated replied to AThousandLies's topic in Off-Topic
No, i'm saying in America it's innocent until proven guilty and so far all the facts point towards the conclusion that she wasn't discriminated against and until she does prove something, the people she is accusing are considered innocent. Quit making irrelevant generalized statements to make up for the fact that you have no real argument. My sources may not have been unbiased but you can't say they were biased against her. The first one is the website of the people who are supporting her and most of the other ones are various homosexual magazines. Some of the major supporters of her are saying that the principal is overlooking all the positive things she's done and just looking at the fact that she's a homosexual. I say their overlooking all the negative things she's done and just looking at the fact she's a homosexual. -

There is proof that she was warned to stop showing affection at school, repeatedly broke the rules and was repeatedly disciplined for her refusal to follow the rules. There is NO PROOF that she was discriminated against. You can't site her unproven claims as evidence. -

They "could" have done a 100 different things. But the whole point is that what they did was well within their authority. -

I reasearched that school district and from what I could find, yes they do have a rule against it. Which is why i'm having a hard time agreeing with the girl. -

Regardless of age or sexual preference if you're in school and you're school has a rule against displaying affection then you're not allowed to display affection. She wasn't warned repeatedly to stop being homosexual, she was warned repeatedly to stop breaking school rules. She was warned repeatedly to stop and was suspended numerous times for not stopping. When school officials take disciplinary action you can't expect them to lie to her mother. It doesn't matter what "people do nowadays" and it doesn't matter how extreme her displays of affection were. There's might be many ways to break a rule but in the end it's the same thing. She broke the rules. After doing a little reasearch I'm thinking she wasn't discriminated against. It seems to me she's just immature and stubborn. I'm guessing a lot of couples were told to stop displaying affection in public but her and her girlfriend thought they had to make a point so they kept doing it. You can't lobby for privacy of the same thing you made public. And you can't argue discrimination for being punished when you break the rules. -
I like it.

I've recently found that I hate having just a little bit more food left than I want to actually eat. Like I have a little more than a bowls worth of cereal left but it's not quite 1 and a half bowls worth. I don't want to put that extra bit in there because I know I won't eat it all but i'm never going to make 1/4 a bowl of cereal. <------This ladies and gentlemen is a dilemma.

This is the way I see it: If there IS a rule against displaying affection towards other students and she broke that rule then I agree. She broke a rule and the school has the right to tell her parents what rule she broke and how she broke it. If there IS NOT a rule then of course it was unfair. I understand that the point of the article is that the school is treating homosexual couples differently than heterosexual couples, but the only evidence for that in this article is some girl whining about her rights and accusing people. I think it really depends on whether or not she broke a school rule. -
Woah. Depression, suicide, side effects--no thanks. I'll just wear my collar up for a couple days.

Hate: This huge, gigantic, monster pimple on the back of my neck. I swear if this thing was any bigger, i'd talk to it. Love: Whatever can get rid of the creature on my neck.

If an adult and a child willingly have sex it's the same scenario no matter what gender they are.NO IT ISNT look at that Florida teacher.. she GOT 3 YEARS HOUSE ARREST FOR HAVING INTERCOURSE WITH A 14 YEAR OLD SHE WAS 23.. you think if it was a male 23 year old and a 14 year old girl u think hed only get 3 years house arrest? NO That case has nothing to do with what you said. I'm not talking about anything to do with the legal system. I'm talking about the fact that you said it's okay for this to happen because he wanted to do it. If the adult and the child BOTH WANT IT, then what's the difference between a male adult and a female adult?
-
can you do what he does? mannn this is why they can`t. people are not courageous enough! good luck on what you doing rex Ignoring ClassicNerds post, the first 2 or 3 posts were actually trying to be realistic/helpful. But all of his posts are nonstop talk about how good he is and everytime somebody disagrees with him instead of trying to find out why they don't like his rap, he starts making fun of them. There's been a few pointless flames but he really did ruin his own thread.

Wet...as in she tried to drown herself after hearing your rap?
