Actually, I'm a speed addict hippie but even I plan on getting farther along in life then questioning peoples patriotic manhood on the internet. That guy in the other top was wondering why people think young kids are so stupid but take a look at most kid inhabited places and there's arguing like this. Even I can come up with a better one then pen pusher.

I consider myself to be an intellectual person. Don't get me wrong, I don't mean intellectual in the sense I know everything (trust me I'm as far away from a genius as you can get), I mean intellectual in the sense that I love to learn. From books on hippies to philosphy texts to random movies. I don't like to learn everything that everybody says but occasionally I'll read something, or somebody will say something, or I'll hear something in a movie, etc... that really strikes me as something to remember. So what I do is keep a little notebook in my pocket and whenever I want to remember some idea or belief or whatever that I really like I just write it down. I've recently started randomly picking one of these things every morning and then trying to apply it through out that day. I was just curious if anybody else kept a little notebook or did anything like that. And if you had any particular things or places that you liked to learn from. This is more of a general topic about accquiring useful information, what kind of information you think is important (most prominant example is street smarts vs book smarts), or anything else that comes close I guess.

The only thing I don't like about school is how it stretches to your personal life after school. Most obvious is homework but other things too. We started this class business selling food and if you don't stay after and help you lose points on your grade. If your late a certain amount of times or absent a certain amount of times they send a cop to your house and after that they take your drivers license. Stuff like that gets me: what happens at school should stay at school. On a more serious note this describes me quite well:

Chicks work like this: The chance of you getting them and how bad you want them are inversely proportional. Seriously I used to be really shy. I just read alot and eventually grew into what I was reading. I read books, watched movies, watched other people, not really trying to learn or copy anything but after awhile you just start to pick things up subconsciousley(SP?). Like I watched Scarface about 70 times because I absolutely loved the movie. The main character is a hyper aggressive, cocky guy and I noticed I was starting to get that way. The point is not that you should start copying stuff and trying to be like anybody else its that eventually you'll start to change and grow out of it and its more unintentionally then it is your own doing. So just chill out and have fun.

The greatest quality MTV has is it's ability to retell classic stories in such a way as to help the newer generations understand them. Take for example there magnificent retelling of Romeo and Juliet and notice how they were able to make it "cool". (This might not be exactly like the movie but its close enough for our intended purpose here.) Juliet: "Romeo, oh Romeo, where art thou dear Romeo?" Romeo: "Come hither thy Juliet, and join me in yonder Cadillac." Juliet: "Thy Cadillac is not safe dear Romeo, perpaps margaritas in yonder Hummer shall we go to." Romeo: "Do not fret my love. Mercutio the Peace Keeper has sworn to keep the peace with his 'AR-33 peace keeping assault rifle', and all shall be well."

In 6th grade I lost my lunch tickets. I didn't know you could just go to lunch and type in your number on the pad and still get a lunch so I thought I was going lunchless for the month. I stuck my head inside my desk and cried and then told my teacher it was just hot in there and I had sweat in my eye. Reflecting on that, I'm sure she thought I was a weirdo.

I know this is your thread but his is pure genius. Nothing less, maybe more.

Gas prices around here have gone up by 45 cents in the past few days. But since houses are flooded, people are drowning, families are being destroyed, lives are being ruined and even more people are going to die, I really dont see how I can complain. The only way this situation could possibly be made worse is if somebody tried to sue somebody over this.

Guy at the gas station told me that the gas prices work in a circular motion. For example: Gas starts off at $2 a gallon. Then they raise it to $2.35 a gallon. Now everybody is freaking out because its 35 cents higher. But then they drop it back down to $2.10 a gallon. Now everbody thinks there saving money when there actually paying 10 cents more than what they started with. And they just keep raising and dropping and people keep thinking their saving when their actually paying more. This guy says Katrina is causing a lot of damage but not enough to make the prices jump this high. So the gas stations are really jacking it up and after awhile their going to lower it, its still going to be way higher than it was before, but now people are going to think their saving money.

Even worse is when you do it at school.

People should do everything they can to help the animals and keep the Earth in as good as condition as we can. BUT: The lives of people>than any other living creature. -
We had a chinese girl come to our class. She spoke absolutely no english whatsoever. She had a little translator and the teachers gave her handouts and she had to translate everything. She was literally thrust into an unknown world. Within 2 months she could understand english enough to take notes from the teacher talking but she still couldn't speak that well. Within 4 months she was almost fluent. Of course she must have been studying and taking classes and stuff like that but if you take a vacation to wherever the place is that speaks that language or start hanging around people who like to speak that language a lot then that really is the fastest way to learn.

So he told you it was a keylogger and then you downloaded it? Is there a good kind of keylogger that I don't know about?

I was buried alive with bugs. All night the same thing. Just me in a box of bugs underground. That was a couple of years ago tho, I've never had a nightmare since.

I'm not a smoker, and don'tt hink I'll ever be, but I'm pretty sure it isn't that easy to quit smoking. Actually it is. I used to smoke for a year, then I decided it was pretty pointless and just quit. You just have to really want to quit. If you want to bad enough you will. Simple as that.

I have this strange attraction to girls who are almost exactly the opposite of me. I'm very laid back, lazy, and in general apathetic towards most things. But I love to read philosophy books and I love to gamble so most of the girls I really like are high strung, really uptight girls. Very odd.

It definetly doesn't wow me. But hats off to whoever learns that stuff.

Is getting games on the 84 plus the same as the 89? I installed mirage os on my calc. I downloaded the TI connect. I downloaded the games, used winzip to extract them and then sent the games to my calc. Some of them go to mirage os and some of them are just under programs. The ones that go to mirage don't work and the ones under programs run but all of them end with a message saying it's archived. I went to memory and pressed unarchived and it said it did but still none of them work. Any of you calculator savy people would like to offer a few suggestions I would appreciate it.

Not as healthy as the tips you gave but I've always found eating nothing for a week to be a good weight loss program. -
Know any cool, almost-never used English words?
logic-is-overrated replied to trapical's topic in Off-Topic
You found that by hitting google and typing in "the longest word in the english language" :D I found one much longer that meant tobacco in scientific terms once, but I am unable to locate it now :( Thsiisthelongestwordbecauseithasthemostlettersinit. self explanatory i would say Looks kind of like a sentence with no spaces to me. Either grammar has dramatically changed or I'm missing that very subtle sarcasm. -
I'm from the south (U.S.) and I'm not "interested" in my sister and I don't drive a tractor to work.

If a group of young kids randomly walked up to me and asked if I had any money I would have thought they were up to something no matter what they looked like.
