  1. I've never taken much of an issue with homework, so I'm pretty neutral on the issue. It helps me understand things most of the time, and I can't really complain about the amount of homework I have. I don't really care for it, but unless I have obscene amounts of work it doesn't really bother me anymore. The only thing I object to is having tests on Mondays.
  2. In some respects I agree with you, but I think something like that is too hard to regulate. There are too many unexpected pregnancies and lots of misused birth control.
  3. Gotta have more than one, sorry. -Allow gay marriage -Outlaw of all guns -Seperate church and state -Repealing of the Patriot Act OP: What's with the idea of an IQ test before having a baby? That's laughable. First off, and IQ test has nothing to do with your intelligence level. It is merely a test to see how easily you can retain information.
  4. Been gone for quite a while now. Been doing a lot in RL. Don't know what the future holds.
  5. Of course, this is highly dependent on the situation as well as whether or not the individual is experienced with guns or martial arts. Since the average person (except maybe in America) is not trained in either, the best defense would be flight. But if you were to take gun training (or whatever you call it) you would be able to shoot the robber, and thus allow the cops to arrest him. (Unless you shot him dead..) I'd rather not a gun. Pulling it out would probably get me shot, and even if it doesn't, I would probably miss and still get shot. My chances are much better if I run. Best of all would be to just give the guy my wallet and let him go on his way. So you hate guns because you are a wimp and believe helping criminals is the best way to go? :shame: Tut tut.. *Slaps* Why even post if that's what you're going to respond with? Venomai puts up a couple of valid points, and you respond with utter nonsense and an insult. Well done.
  6. Texas definatly did get hosed. I'm not vouching for them to be #2 in the BCS, but they should most definatly be ahead of Oklahoma. I suppose it's no surprise though, because Texas beat Oklahoma BEFORE Oklahoma beat TT. The biggest issue I have with the BCS is the fact that it rewards you for losing early. If two teams go 11-1, it's always the team that lost FIRST that ends up being ranked higher. Yet another season that screams for a playoff system.
  7. My high school: "In 2008, the 330 members of the graduating class received diplomas with the word education misspelled as educaiton. The school obtained another print run of the defective diplomas, and provided replacements to the graduating students.[1][2]" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Westlake_High_School_(Ohio) In the same year we had over 30 kids get expelled. It was easily the worst year we've ever had in terms of behavior, and I can't even begin to tell you how embarassing it was to have cameras throughout the school trying to interview people who are close to the druggies who were caught. Here's a small list of the major drug busts: -In April of 2008 the girl ranked #2 in the senior class was caught with posession of heroine and is now in jail. Needless to say her scholarship to Princeton was taken away. -April 2008 - Two kids caught with posession of marijuana. -April 2008 - A Freshman girl is caught with, and under the influence of cocaine. -May 2008 - About 30 Seniors are denied graduation. -May 2008 - 3 more kids are expelled after being caught processing crystal meth. -May 2008 - More kids are caught dealing marijuana. -May 2008 - NON DRUG RELATED, but still laughable, a couple is caught performing oral sex on each other on a staircase. I know. What's most interesting is that literally nothing cool happened my Freshman and Sophomore year, and then all hell broke loose the last three months of my Junior year. Senior year has been pretty quiet... ...So far...
  8. The WBC is INSANE. I wouldn't put it far from them.
  9. I just don't know how much more I can take. I've been dating a girl (including two break ups) for about 3 years now. In the last two months, I've noticed two things. One of these things is that about half of the stuff we do I really don't want to partake in, and do it just to please her. I can't even get a smile out of her half the time and it kills me. She makes things so hard for me without knowing it. She is eating away at me because I no longer appear to make her as happy as I used to, despite the fact that she still says I do. I know when her heart isn't in it, and I know what's up. She's losing faith (as am I) in our relationship, and neither of us will admit it. Neither of us will own up to the fact that things aren't as they used to be. She constantly tells me that things aren't as "fresh" or "new" as they we're when we first went out. She longs for things to be like they were in the past, and she wants the new-relationship feeling. This seems impossible to me, and despite going to places that she wants to go, I still cannot bring about this spark. Second is that other girls are attracted to me. I'm not trying to sound like I'm all that or anything, but I'm aware that at least two other girls are interested in me. This is influincing my feelings quite a bit mostly because I know that I could find something better with someone else. I feel like when I hang out with them I have a much better time. Is this all in my head? One side of me is scared that I'm making the wrong choice. I'm scared of the feelings of sorrow that I'll have upon me if we break up. I'm scared of knowing that she is with someone else. I'm scared to wake up miserable every morning. I'm scared of missing her. But I'm also scared I'll never know what's best for me. I'm scared that I might not be as happy with her ever again, and that if I don't end this now I'll miss out on so much more. What can I do? I want to overcome this and be single again, but I'm haunted by my past. When I was a Sophmore (two years ago) we broke up, and the pain ate away at me for two months before we finally got back together. If I make this decision I don't want to regret it for the rest of my high school days (I'm a senior, mind you). What's left for me? What can I do?
  10. :wall: #-o There is already a link for this. viewtopic.php?f=30&t=594522
  11. Didn't you say you wanted to unban drugs because of "freedom before safety"? Never said that. Don't think I even commented on the legalizing drugs thread. I might have, but I definatly never said "Freedom before saftey" outright.
  12. I have no interest in discussing god here. Faith in other things, but not god. I'd prefer to leave that in the other thread.
  13. (I believe this constitutes it's own thread, and I don't think there is one which poses the same question. I think that the only thread like this is the one about paranormal experiences.) Over the last few years I've taken great interest in the paranormal. Through this interest I found one of my heroes, James Randi. For those of you who don't know about James, he is considered to be the world's most famous investigator of the paranormal, and offers ONE MILLION DOLLARS to any person who can provide evidence of the paranormal under proper observing conditions. Many have tried, but no one has claimed James' million dollars, and to this day no thing has ever crossed his path that passes his tests. I'd like to get your views on this. Do you believe in those who claim they communicate with the dead? Do you believe in psychics? Do you believe in metal benders or psychic surgeons? Do you believe in faith healing? Discuss.
  14. I've never understood the need to posess a gun. If guns were indeed eliminated from society I think we'd be looking at a much better world. The violent crime rate would drop. Murder rates would drop. Suicides would drop (if only by the slimmest margin). Guns do more harm then help. Period.
  15. 3.84 This most recent quarter. 27 on my first attempt on the ACT as a Senior.
  16. Thanks Lara, much appreciated :D The trip didn't end up happening to my dismay. I'm now under 100k to 84 Slayer.
  17. :wall: Please look up "agnosticism". Calling me dull and then stating that there is no such thing as agnosticism is laughable. Just because I know you won't, I'll post several links. Read up, junior. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Agnosticism http://www.religioustolerance.org/agnostic.htm http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/01215c.htm Atheism is NOT being unsure. How many times do we have to tell you this? Three definitions from three different sites. Atheism: Belief in no God, or no belief in God. (There is a difference) (www.religioustolerance.com) Atheism: A disbelief in the existence of deity(http://www.merriamwebster.com/dictionary/atheism) 1. the doctrine or belief that there is no God. 2. disbelief in the existence of a supreme being or beings. (http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/atheism) You CAN have information given from an unbiased source. This is what's called a "third party" or "outside" source. Do some research on James Randi's million dollar challenge and you'll understand.
  18. Atheism is NOT being "unsure" of a god. It isn't by it's very definition. That's agnosticism, buddy. Nobody debates the points you put up because you never make any logical contribution to the argument, and continue to post biased sources like "http://www.intelligentchristianity.net/" and "www.icr.org", and even "www.talkorigins.com". Can't you do any better than providing blatantly biased sources? "Some" would imply that you planned on naming more than one.
  19. -6 Stiches to my chin after running into a grandfather clock when I was 4. -Three wisdom teeth removed. -Three Stiches to my lip after being hit in the face at a concert. Don't know if this counts, but as a child I had tubes put in my ears because I had chronic ear infections.
  20. The weekend will not likely hold much RS time for me, as I plan on going to Grand Rapids, Michigan (which is about 4 and a half hours away from my house) to see Rise Against, Alkaline Trio, Thrice, and the Gaslight Anthem play for the second time. Keep me company even while I'm gone, won't you? :D
