  1. I can't see anything bad in your HiJackThis Log. Are you still getting any annoyances? Errors or anything?
  2. I enjoy bands like Blink 182, The Offspring, Foo Fighters, Living End, Frenzal Rhomb and even newer breads like Franz Ferdinand and The Killers. I like the new age techy sort of rockin' they have been producing hehe. Although I wouldn't call thes punk though.
  3. I will verify when I get home, the folder I had it in was called Opera 10, perhaps I named it incorrectly. But I'm sure you know what version I have because it was the free licensed version they gave away to celebrate (I think their birthday?). Perhaps it was version 7, but yeah I can verify tonight.
  4. Well since Runescape has such bad money sinks the money has to be spent somewhere, this is why such rare items are worth alot, because there is so much money in the game. The price of materials hasn't really changed much in Runescape's history, I know this from personal experience.
  5. Do you know if it is only Runescape that won't load? Perhaps there is a way to test this on java.com.
  6. Just wondering, but why would you say that? (not meant to flame or anything, just curious) I like Internet Explorer because it is just there, easy to use, only takes 30 seconds to config it to how I want it on a new computer. I never got into all these extra bits and pieces people like ot add to their browsers. Thats why it is my favourite browser. Well well well. Very interesting. How long ago did you last try Firefox or Opera? (like, what versions?) I have the full version of Opera 10 (as part of the promotion) and last used Firefox at work (version 1.04? I think).
  7. Delete the C:\Windows\.file_system_32 folder from your computer then reload Runescape.

  9. Does your Java function properly in Internet Explorer?
  10. I find following these 3 steps is a great start to making your venture on the internet alot safer in a standard Windows XP installation (SP2). 1) Enable Windows Firewall. 2) Set Internet Explorer to block all Popups, unless you specify an allowed website. 3) Set Internet Explorer security settings to Medium and do not let it automatically install any content that is not signed. Following these steps you just require a little common sense when browsing the internet. Don't open illegal websites or download files that aren't from verified websites. And lastly don't install ActiveX controls unless you are on a secure or verified website.
  11. I've used all 3 in quite large doses. I believe I can safely say Internet Explorer is my favourite.
  12. If your internet connection seems to be running smoothly normally then this is most likely a Java issue. I would suggest looking at he FAQ Sticky for some solutions for fixing Java.
  13. You should also update windows to service pack 2. This contains wireless feature updates.
  14. Try searching google for "sms application" or "sms messenger" or "computer to sms" or "sms software".
  15. Remove msn messenger completely from add/remove programs then run add/remove windows components and ensure that msn exporer and windows messenger are both unticked. Then restart your computer and go to messenger.msn.com and ensure you download the latest version and try installing it again.
  16. First thing you need to do is go into your device manager settings and see if it is actually picking up any of the usb ports. If they are listed under unknown devices then its a drivers issue.
  17. First thing I would do is go into your device manager options and uninstall your graphics card. Then download the latest drivers for your card and restart your computer and reinstall the graphics card.
  18. You don't really have much running, though you might want to remove some of those startup entries to speed up startup. If your computer is just generally loading slow for everything you use then you might need to degrade or reformat your computer. What sort of processor and ram do you have in your computer and when was the last time Windows was reinstalled?
  19. I would not reccommend this. If you want to clear up your system restore files then simply turn system restore off, restart your computer, then turn it back on. You can turn off system restore from the system properties of the control panel. Wow I did not know this :) :) Thanks for sharing that, I can clear up nearly a gig of memory on my laptop (it is much needed, until I buy some more memory) Er, is it COMPLETELY safe to delete those files? I mean, if my laptop crashes will I lose everything after I delete the Sys Volume Information, or will it be fine? I dont want to lose anything on this laptop, some valuable school projects, pictures, files etc I need on here, but I need the space, so can I delete the files in this System Volume Information folder SAFELY, without risk of losing files? Turning off system restore will only delete your system restore points. They are just snap shots of your current system files at the time. If your entire computer crashs and the harddrive is corrupt, not even system restore will recover all those files you mentioned for your school proects, pictures and other non-system related files. If you are really worried I would suggest you make a CD copy of your work, that would be your safest option. EDIT: Just to add, I re-read your post and would just like to make a point to ensure you understand it. Do not delete the actual folder, System Volume Information, it is bad practice to delete any system related files manually. Follow the steps in my first post about disabling system restore to remove any current system resotre points.
  20. Have you tried removing the application completely like suggested above? You can then reinstall with a fresh copy.
  21. Please ensure that the antivirus and adware removal applications are completely up-to-date before running the scans. This computer currently has a virus and most up-to-date security applications should pick them up. After updating it would be a good idea to scan while in safe-mode, press F8 a few times quickly before the windows loading screen while starting your computer up to enter safe-mode.
  22. I would not reccommend this. If you want to clear up your system restore files then simply turn system restore off, restart your computer, then turn it back on. You can turn off system restore from the system properties of the control panel.
  23. Use the wireless security feature in your linksys routers settings. (http://192.168.1.1 to set this up). You can also specify your router to only accept wireless connections from certain mac addresses, so find out your current computers mac address and add that into the allowed addresses. If you need more information on how to do this your best place would be the linksys websites knowledge base. All these features are explained in great detail, good luck.
  24. hi ctlove, ensure you have run Windows Update to get the latest Internet Explorer version running then jump on over to http://www.java.com and download the latest JRE (java runtime files). In Internet Explorer options make sure you untick any options to do with Java in your Options > Advanced tab before installing the java. Let me know how you go :)
  25. Aren't the bookmarks and what not stored in XML somewhere? I don't see why you would lose all settings just from not shutting down the program properly? Well unless the link between the data and the profile gets messed up. I'm sure that the bookmarks are still stored somewhere on your computer though.
