  1. Well, yes, I know that. I meant what versions specifically? What are their features? Who runs them? Those kinds of general details.
  2. I don't recall saying "nobody wants RS2007". What I did say (implicitly or explicitly) is that the people pushing for this are vocal minority. Also do you actually have substantiated statistics? Also, what is 317, 474?
  3. Boosted Xp rates and generally lots of free XP are very recent developments. Who's to say that these people don't want RS2010 instead? Not liking aspects of modern RS does not mean that people want to put up with the drudgery of RS2007.
  4. They might have gone to private servers for pre-EoC, but not for RS2007. Do not conflate the two. In case you didn't notice, Pre-EoC and RS2007 have a 5-6 year period. Not liking EoC does NOT mean that you want to give up all the modern conveniences of RS (GE, "skill-x", a host of other things) to play some crappy underdeveloped (in comparison) version of RS. There's obviously some EoC quitters that do want to play RS2007, but they are by no means a majority.
  5. Where is this ridiculous assumption coming from (generally, everywhere, not specifically in this thread) that some* EoC players will come back because of this? Obviously some** will, but the idea that people who quit the game over EoC would for some reason would want to play the retrograde 2007 version of RS seems silly to me. Not liking EoC does not mean you want to play RS 2007, it simply means you don't want to play EoC. Edit: * By 'some', I am implying a noticeable % of EoC quitters returning to the game. ** By 'some', I am implying that I do think a few EoC quitters will return, but nowhere near as many as proponents of this seem to think.
  6. Also, why is this poll on until the 1st? It should have a week, at max.
  7. :wall: Yes, unless we agree with you, we're obstinate and being "difficult". Whatever.
  8. Indeed but to alchemise drops, you need drops and runes and resources. When Slayer was first released, RS had been here for 4 years and there was already lots of wealth. In a new hypothetical RS, it's going to take time and dedication to reach that stage. Also, remember, that this RS won't have half the players that played the original 2001-2006 RS, so it will take them even longer.
  9. As long as it doesn't at least hit 250K, it will be dead within 3 months.
  10. It was only a good skill because there was lots of money in the game (through alching, all the years of drops, etc etc), and it had became concentrated, so there were wealthy players. In a new hypothetical RS, it would take years, if not at least several months before anyone accumulated enough money to pay handsomely enough to make Slayer a good money-maker or as good a moneymaker as it was.
  11. The poll needs a "no" vote that is visible (there is no abstention count). People who oppose this have an interest at stake too, it should be represented.
  12. Apparently these guys are spamming en masse everywhere, including friend's chats. A bunch of thugs.
  13. The idea of a fresh game may be appealing to some, and I can see why, but personally, I have absolutely, no -- none at all, interest in starting my account again. I am also, I think, one of the few people that I know that never started another account again (I have tried, but never saw the appeal for me). I don't have that kind of time on my hands. These people who want a fresh game should just grab a private server or something. Not hold the current edition hostage.
  14. Indeed, if they take this far enough, they could actually steal substantial resources from the main game to fund their little fantasy. It's sickening. Though, ultimately Jagex is to blame. They shut down (I think) RS2006 because they realized there was a niche market, and decided to cash in on it. So now these people have nowhere to go, and are running into Jagex's arms. Fricken Copyright.
  15. Even then, Free Trade was on rational grounds, and overwhelming popular -- even if we account for bots. Remember that the non-Free Trade era was universally despised. The only shocking thing about that debate was that suddenly all these people came out and said that they didn't want Free Trade back because they didn't want RWT/Bots back. That was shocking. The rest was not. This current fiasco is merely a vocal minority, one that seems to tricking (for a lack of a better word) others into voting for something that is not only not in their interests, but they'd probably oppose if only they understood the implications. The actual preferences of the current player-base, I can say with some certainty, does not want to go back to 2007 and play pretend. It's just that their actual preferences are being distorted at the moment.
  16. I can't actually believe this madness is being allowed to continue. Apparently they're mass mobilizing people who actually have no interest in playing RS 2007 by saying things like "Just vote yes, it won't do us any harm". What nonsense. It's having a distorting effect on the vote. These actually want to take away all the gains and improvements that have been made in the last 6 years, and take us back to the RS equivalent of the stone ages. The sort of stone age that most of them haven't even played and have a idealized view of. They're deluded reactionaries.
  17. I thought it might have been an okayish idea to keep one-to-two servers for historical purposes, to show what RS was like pre-EoC (much like the RSC servers). I am perfectly fine with EoC and had no intention of playing on the pre-EoC servers myself but I thought it should still be there. But what they're doing here is madness, actually keeping RS 2007 and upgrading it simultaneously? They didn't even do that for RSC when RS2 came out. I still say the same thing, 2006 is gone and it ain't coming back. I was there the first time, and while I had a blast, there's no way I'd want to play that in 2013. RS has come a long way since then, and it's been for the better; it's far more developed, who'd want to play on that old dinosaur now (aside from the nostalgic visit)? I still don't know where this RS2006 fad is coming from. Just jaded and cynical people? Because a great deal of them exhibit hipster tendencies. You know, those people that appropriate other people's identities as their own? Like those people who are in their 20's and say things like "I remember when the Beatles...". Newsflash, if you're 20 years old, you weren't here for the Beatles. That doesn't mean you can't like their music and be a fan, but you weren't there, so stop pretending as if you were part of the scene, it's totally inauthentic. I feel the same way with some (not all) of these RS2006 crowd. They've obviously never played RS in 2006, so they have a distorted view that's been coloured with rose-tinted shades. They say things like "I remember when the community was so great, back in 2006!There were no scammers, botters or cheaters!" Bullshit. If you had been there, you'd know we had our malcontents just like any other period in RS history. In any case, it's inauthentic and a hipsterish fad. This "movement" doesn't seem to have much support, so it's highly unlikely they will get level 3 or level 4 votes, and when they have to cough up additional money, that'll kill half the people anyways.
  18. Apparently there's still one conscientious voice left at Jagex. Thanks, Mod Edam! I hope he *does* get the job done.
  19. Same, I have 16 pieces, and I have just built all 4 telescope totems.
  20. Unknown, do you have the telescope totem?
  21. It does not degrade if 12 hours is to be understood conventionally in the context of RS. Indeed, every indication was made on Jagex's part to indicate that it would last longer than Nex, and in the same framework as Barrows/Nex/Chaotics. That's what people mean when they say it doesn't "last 12 hours", if Jagex had intended to make a completely unique degrading system, they should have notified us beforehand. In addition to this central claim (which is true), I also relayed some complaints from RSOF (which while unconfirmed at the time) did say that it was degrading extremely fast (1-3 hours). The only part my assessments have been based on are the following facts: a) PoP does not last 12 hours as 12 hours is conventionally understood as far degrading goes in the game (like barrows/Nex). b) PoP can not be repaired unless it is at 0% c) No set effects. All of these claims are true. My arguments have been based on those. In addition to that, I have also relayed complaints (and I have made it clear that they were merely claims/hearsay) which might have possibly been true and warranted discussion and investigation. So I don't think I have relied on any false data to make my central argument.
  22. Did they say that these fixes were coming with the slayer tower update? I think what he means to say is that they said they'd come in the near future, so people sort of anticipate them with every update. Sometimes they get upset when they feel that Jagex is prioritizing things wrong.
  23. What's wrong with dual-wield weapons? Also, I thought 2 hours was how sinkholes were initially meant to be?
