200M in all Skills
Please don't insult the intelligence of everyone around here. For all practical purposes you have gotten 5B, 1 experience point is immaterial in that context. It's a little bit too late to be saying, "Yeah, well, I guess I didn't get that last point so technically I won't be getting 5b, sorry guys!"

200M in all Skills
When I first read that Suomi had been muted, I, too, assumed that this was just some lighthearted facetious joke, but everything is true, apparently.

200M in all Skills
To add to my previous post about the situation: A) Suomi got muted because he used language in a way that is probably against the rules of the game. B) Suomi lost the 5B party because he was being completely two-faced and juvenile to people he was paling around with, so they decided to revoke a gift/privilege (which is what the 5B party was) that they had initially been offering him. Nothing to see here, folks.

200M in all Skills
That'd certainly be amusing from a trolling perspective, but needless to say, unless what Suomi said was even more juvenile (by that I mean he essentially said something illegal by real-world standards) than we thought (I don't think pictures have been released so we don't know exactly what he said), such a measure is a bit too draconian and harsh.

200M in all Skills
I am not exactly aware of all the details (I am catching up as we speak), but it seems a rather curious thing to do on Suomi's part. Not because he used expletives or he allegedly criticized Jagex harshly. I think you should be able to do that, while still being a RS player (well, not ingame perhaps, but elsewhere, sure). I mean I often say similar and much harsher things, and I have yet to be banned (though, admittedly, I keep my criticisms to TIF, rather than taking them in-game) but I suspect it's because I'm a normal player and I have no audience. So the problem isn't that Suomi was critical of Jagex in an uncouth manner. The problem is he did this given his position. It's one thing to play the game, while loathing the corporate entity that is Jagex (like I said, I do this, as well as others); It's completely another thing to pal around with Jagex Mods, accept an unprecedented party initiative from Jagex (they have never done this for anyone else) to celebrate one's achievements, and then badmouth Jagex, and that too in a completely unrefined and juvenile manner. Anyone who does something like this and does not anticipate reprisal is extremely narcissistic or completely ignorant of social etiquette. I'm hardly Jagex's biggest fan, but in this instance their behaviour wasn't exactly inappropriate. Suomi and others have brought up the example of Zarfot to sort of counter this and go "Well, how come he never got muted, and I did?", but I don't see how that's relevant. For one thing, Zarfot actually took a principled stand, and he did it in a civilized manner. He went on the forums, organized a formal protest, did so without the use of expletives, and then he actually quit the game. He didn't go around paling with J-Mods, accepting party initiatives from Jagex (Zarfot never got 5b, but he basically ushered in the era of obsessive experience, and his 200M's and methods were extremely impressive), all the while quietly muttering to the side "[bleep] Jagex!" That's the difference between Suomi and Zarfot. Suomi wants the best of both worlds, to eat his cake and have it too, and to do so in a completely juvenile manner, while Zarfot on the other hand made a principled stand, understood the implications/consequences of it and accepted them and moved on. Did Suomi really think he could be BFFs with Jagex while simultaneously telling them to "[bleep] off" without reprisal, all because he has 5B or something? That's extreme delusion if he thought he could get away with it. TL;DR: You are free to criticize Jagex all you want, and to do so in the harshest manner possible, but don't do (especially using expletives) it while you are palling around with them and they're actually going out of their way to do something 'nice' for you. Even shorter moral of the story: Don't bite the hand that feeds you!

I am also half-way done. I just logged out for PoP/Spins reset and the entire site seems down. Am I the only one?

Sorry, I missed Lioness's post. Yes, hopefully they didn't forget that either.

Mod Edam hath spoken: it will now function properly, just like Nex, the Superior version will have more charges than Nex, while the inferior version will have the same charges as Nex. Link: http://services.rune...4236304,goto,24 They're just testing it through Q&A, and then it will be added, probably next week. Finally, 12 hours will actually mean what 12 hours in RS has meant for degradable armour. Now we just need set effects.

2007 - Old School RuneScape... You Vote! - [It's Here!]
F2P is dying a rather slow death anyways, the numbers are disastrous. It used to be the case that there were usually more F2P'ers than P2P'ers by a healthy margin of 9-1, but now there are more P2P'ers. That's horrific for a game that prides itself as being the largest free online game in the world.

2007 - Old School RuneScape... You Vote! - [It's Here!]
Those people who are claiming that Jagex had already made up their mind and this was more or less a farce are completely correct. As with other polls, they had already decided the outcome in advance, and constructed the poll merely to give an illusion in choice (which we obviously don't have in the affairs of the game). Why else would Mod Mark (or whichever moderator it was) claim that you should vote for the poll even if you don't intend to play, just for your friends, or that if you do so, you'll get a free month? What kind of brain-dead imbecile does that? If the true aim of the poll is to gauge true interest in the game, why would you want to distort the figure, and have it turn out that 400K people voted but only 40K are interested? Unless of course the point of the poll was not to measure true interest, and money was either plentiful or the costs were ignored.

18-2-2013 The RuneScape Bestiary
I am extremely disappointed that the quest won't be coming this week. Such a cruel tease.

Tip.It Times - 10th February 2013
Though they didn't really give any indications, I suppose I stand corrected. Their 'obviously fake' tease didn't turn out to be so fake.

Future Update Discussions
Is the GM quest coming out this week? It'd better be, I can't wait any longer... They should have released it in early February, like they released BoE in early December.

People who are arrogant, delusional, abrasive and needlessly combative deserve to be told "I told you so", ruthlessly, when their fantasies inevitably crumble. You will find no sympathy for such people here. --------- As to the discussion on rares. Again, if the whole point is to recreate 2007, then it cannot be denied that rares were part of the experience. Now to adress a few general complaints on the issue: A) Some people might not want them back. Reply: Others will. B) There's no fair way to distribute them. Reply: Sure there is. Boss drops, random drop parties, early bird quests, what have you, there are dozens of ways to do it. C) This will make many people rich by sheer virtue of luck. Reply: Luck has *always* been a part of the game. D) They won't have the same economic impact as they originally did. Reply: That's certainly true that they won't be as impactful, but that's a matter of degree. As long as they are released in a limited supply, they will *eventually* be worth something, though obviously not as much as they are in the original game for various obvious reasons. Now, I, personally, don't want them back, but then I won't be playing this game anyways. I'm speaking primarily from the perspective of players who might, and also from the perspective that if they are going to go through with this, then what I have suggested would be the way to 'recreate' the ordeal (assuming that is the goal).

The wealthiest players already buy useful things, and even buy them up when they feel like it. As long as useful items have a good supply into the game, they cannot be bought up. Particularly when you consider that this is RS2007; no Nex, no claws, no Gwars etc etc. There isn't much to buy out. Sure there's Whips, and Dragon items, but whips can only be bought out temporarily as more people will slowly get 85 Slayer, and dragon items are barely better than their Rune counterparts, even by marginal standards. Also, it's going to take a long time before there's a lot of money in the game, and for it to get concentrated, so no players will be initially wealthy or in a position to hold the market hostage. While I do think rares belong in 2007, they are by no means necessary as you seem to imply.
-
2007 - Old School RuneScape... You Vote! - [It's Here!]
Well, they were always an integral part of the game, as they are now, and 2007 is no exception to this. If the point is to recreate 2007, why wouldn't rares be there?

If you deluded 2007-scapers were truly a majority, you would not have to resort to the desperate tactics you have been employing (on day 1 no less!). Mass spamming, harassment, half-baked statistics and begging people who have no interest in 2007 to vote yes anyways? Seems like desperate measures to me. Not something that a self-assured majority would do.

2007 - Old School RuneScape... You Vote! - [It's Here!]
I do think this part is pretty clear. Jagex says a lot of things, that does not necessitate that they be true. They're understaffed as it is. Even if they do hire a completely new and separate team, all that means is that that new team is a team that could have been working for the current RS instead of RS2007. ---- @ Battosai, You certainly know how to cheer me up.

2007 - Old School RuneScape... You Vote! - [It's Here!]
Because we're a majority, and they're not. Furthermore, the whole thing is just ill-conceived. It will not last, namely because most of the people here are in Disney-land where they've convinced themselves that if only we could have 2007 back, it'd just be so wonderful, that community and all that. But it won't. It's delusional thinking. When they're faced with how 2007 actually was, most of them will abandon it. Also, this project undermines all the progress that RS had made over the past 6 years.

We have just spent a dozen pages arguing why this isn't the case.
