Never been and I don't plan on it. I've also never been to a strip club. Both strike me as particularly shallow forms of entertainment.

Okay so there's this place I drive by all the time here with Republican candidates' yard signs, but across his entire front porch is a spray painted sign that reads "I'll keep my guns, religion, and freedom. You can keep the change." I found out today that he's a school bus driver for a local school district. He makes a living off GOVERNMENT SALARY. The irony is almost too much for me.

They weren't only concerned about lawless riots. They also didn't believe the average person was even capable of understanding government, nor did they want them to have any say in government. We're getting into some tricky philosophical territory here. Do you believe that ideas can be taken out of their context and implemented in the twenty-first century? I used to think they could be, but now I am not so sure. Our environment, indeed our reality, shapes our ideas. Ideas don't just come from anywhere, they are reactions to events or problems around us. Clearly the eighteenth century and the twenty-first are vastly different. How well can ideas shaped by the eighteenth-century world be applicable?

I'm going to have to say that John Locke was a better philosopher, and disagree with you. I don't buy Locke's philosophy for a second. The intellectuals of the Enlightenment were against democracy--at least most of them were. They wanted education and law, yes, but they didn't want it in the hands of the masses. They feared populist movements. This was the age of Enlightened Absolutism. The Enlightenment philosophers have some pretty sounding quotes, but their philosophies have not held up over time. Theirs is the philosophy of self-interest. You can find a rationalization for just about anything the state does that is based on "reason." This includes law.

Oh freedom, that wonderful concept that people love to depend on. Look. If there is law, there is no freedom. Only the consequences of breaking the law dictate our actions.

Logically, and in context, Romney is correct. A politically astute observer will tell you that Romney shouldn't have been the one to say it. What I predict is going to happen is that political commentators in the media, along with ads from the Obama campaign are going to take this completely out of context and continue to harp on it. In context: I'm not going to campaign to people who aren't going to vote for me. Out of context: I don't care about half of America (or special interest x, y, z). Probably. Such is politics... The bears are better than the vikings looool (assuming you're a vikings fan if you're from minny) I'm a vikings fan tbh :( Dude, really? I go to school in Minnesota but I am a born and raised Wisconsinite. I bleed Green and Gold.

Governor Romney discusses his love for "sport" as well as knowing NASCAR owners (not being able to name a single driver). Meanwhile, President Obama is out having beers with sports bar patrons and pizza shop owners, and shows his support for his hometown team, the Chicago Bears--who totally suck. Which one will Americans identify better with? I wonder. It really is an empty way to get a vote, but it goes a long way in making the President seem down to earth. Hell, Governor Romney can't even have a beer.

I follow Politico for my politics obsession and I find them to be very fair. However, this week has been nothing but reporting on Governor Romney's stumbles. As much as I like to see Governor Romney messing up his campaign, it's almost getting on my nerves. I think that President Obama has a better populist message--and I agree with a decent amount of his policies--and can seal up a second term if he does average or good in the debates. Instead, we're getting this nitty-gritty "look at my opponent's missteps" Chicago-style campaign. It is what it is, but it works. Plain and simple, President Obama runs a better campaign than Governor Romney.

That speech last night by Clinton was astounding. One of the best speeches I've ever heard in my life.

The calls for Joe Biden to step down are empty. That man has had many worse pseudo-gaffes. He's an imbecile, but he knows how to own that role and uses it to divert attention to himself from Obama. Clever bit of politicking if you ask me.

Well that's no way to start a conversation... I'm glad the law was upheld, but I sure as hell did not expect it to be. Good sign for Obama in the fall, very good sign.

Just about four weeks. We were in Provence, never went north at all. We studied public monuments as well as Roman-influenced architecture. Did a few a tours of wine country as well. Vin vin vin vin vin :shades:

You're wrong on the water temperature thing. Humans have been using hot springs as well as coals to heat water to bathe in for thousands of years.

I inherited dry skin from my mother, so I've dealt with a dry scalp my entire life. First off I just have to say there's a huge difference between a dry scalp and dandruff. If it's a really serious issue, consult a professional. The best way I've dealt with it is by using Selsun Blue PLUS CONDITIONER. Conditioner is the most important part. Washing my hair daily leaves me with zero problems. If I go a day without showering, it gets flakey and gross. Also, turn the water down a few degrees when you're washing your hair as hot water tends to aggravate any dryness.
