  1. Thanks K G. Slow day today, high alching and selling my teletabs. Teletabs are license to print money - I get the magic exp and the profit! Its a win-win for me. Another magic level achieved (62) and quite close to 63 for tomorrow.
  2. Four levels today trying to get some credit in ahead of time. Cannoning at trolls got me a range and a slayer level. I then balloon crafted 1k laws (runecrafting level), made some bracelets of clay (smithing level from gold smelting), and then my plans hit the brakes when I discovered how pointlessly slow mining clay (and horrible exp too). Resolved to buy clay instead and spend the saved time crafting more laws. Will probably try and aim for 65 Magic and then craft the runes for Mage Training Arena... until another brilliant plan emerges!
  3. Hey Draco. I know you get upset if noone posts so let me be the first to say... Wow! Seriously impressive day's work! 43M should fund your next 99....
  4. Finished off my teletabs today and went to a busy Edgeville server to sell. They went like hotcakes! Was selling at 800ea, and somebody put up 2.4M wanting 3k! That's good money, may have to make some more especially as you get the Magic experience too. Got 60 & 61 Magic high alching my bracelets. I'm starting to think I should try and just get as many levels as I can now, as the baby is due tomorrow :)
  5. Another lovely farming level! Have started Calquat planting now with garden pies, have enough in the bank to get me to 71 Farming (as long as I plant one a day!) Mostly Runecrafting again. today. I have 2999 natures banked which seems like a nice number - should match the number of bracelets I've got banked by the time I get 69 Smithing. Should get me 65 Magic when I high alch them. Think I'll give Lunar Diplomacy a go then :) Also balloon crafted some laws, and mined some clay, may try and sell a few teletabs over the weekend!
  6. I think merchants may have to be more clever. I can see that the price of certain items will rise that have a high demand but currently a low supply. With the RS 'herd mentality' if anything starts to show a good profit people will flock into supplying it and the prices will then fall. Presumably this will then cause other commodity prices to rise as people stop supplying this commodity. If you guess right and buy a lot of a commodity before the prices rise, wait a week and then sell at the new price - a profit!
  7. But will this help merchanters? Merchanting relies on buying low and selling high. I think the Grand Exchange will encourage a more even price reducing the oppportunities for merchants. However, I think this is covered by another topic on General Discussion. I was thinking more on the effect on RS producers.
  8. The imminent arrival of the Grand Exchange has set me thinking about how the Runescape economy actually works.... Many people will claim that you can earn x gp/hr with a certain skill. I'm going to use nature runes as an example but it could be anything, iron bars to knives, flax to bowstrings or even cutting yews. For instance 300k/hr is widely held as a figure for nat rcing. So that's 1000 nats an hour at 300ea is it? Only if you'd mined your own pure ess and that would take ages. So it must mean buying pure ess... And then selling the nats... How long is this buying and selling process going to take though? I've spent hours trying to offload my hard crafted nats or trying to buy pure ess at a "reasonable" price. Hours I could have spent runecrafting more nats! If you spend the time in the bank alching or fletching you can still be making xp, but it would be more profitable to be out there runecrafting, or smithing, or woodcutting rather than stuck in a bank. I've found that its actually better to buy high and sell low to get a quick sale! Sometimes even paying 10gp higher than average, or selling for 10gp lower will mean people jumping to sell/buy. Its hard to predict what effect The Grand Exchange will have on this phenomenon. It will allow market prices to better reflect supply and demand. If there is a glut of product on the market prices will drop as buyers can choose the cheapest price. However, if a resource is in short supply prices will be pushed up as vendors find they can demand more for an item. Please comment on your experiences, and what you think the most profitable items will be...
  9. I'm 71 WC (rune axe) and I can get 40k/h at Tai Bwo Wannai Mahoganies (you do need to mine some opals, jade and topaz from Shilo to trade before you start.)
  10. A much better day at the greenies today. Three trips and no PKs. Best drop of the day came from.... the Mysterious Old Man! Half a key, and a loop at that for my second crystal key. Not much from the greenies themselves, apart from the hides and bones. I thought they were meant to drop clues.... Also managed to get enough gold ore for another smithing level, plus finally got 69 Farming teed up as well. But first another Crafting level for tomorrow!
  11. Killed a second time yesterday by a PKer by the green dragons south of the lava maze. Lesson learned? No, back in the wildy today killing black unicorns! Got to 60 Strength in the process. Must continue Slayer really, must be best way to level combat. Spent most of the day on farming and herblore, very close to levels in both. Would like to get those last couple of hundred gold ores, but would really need an hour or so undisturbed and that's not going to happen!
  12. 58 Runecrafting today getting a few more nature runes. Followed by half an hour of trying to sell my coal to reinvest in MTK (eventually). Miscellania was quite kind to me this week - 2 yews, 2 palms and a papaya seed. Should be enough for level 69 farming (need a few more cactus spines for the yews). Thought I'd get a few more green dragons this afternoon but PKed on my second run (only lost a few bolts, green vambs, and Accumulator). Fire_Slyzer was training combat on druids for herblore drops. I know I need to get back to Slayer at some stage but find slayer monsters either too easy or too hard! Can't find a slayer master at the right combat level for me. But yeah, will get back to slayer soonish.
  13. Two days - two construction levels. Very glad to have gone with the mahoganies for faster levelling, still takes best part of half an hour a level. (I know I shouldn't complain but with Construction you kind of feel you've bought that level.) 800/100 gold ores mined as well. Was going to do a bit more mining but the worlds were pretty empty and I had a top 10,000 miner take World 6 from me (oh well). Have started Runecrafting again, as I have 2000 gold bracelets waiting to alch (soon to be 3000). Should be a few Magic levels in that as long as I can keep up my Runecrafting enthusiasm (using up my supplies of energy potions to help keep things moving).l
  14. There is no need to keep the magic whistle. You can fairy ring to the Fisher King's realm and find one lying on the ground there. This technique is IMO the fastest way to gold mine.
  15. An averagely productive day. Started off with a defense and HP level at the Chaos Druids. Managed a farming round, mined some iron, lit some fires and did a bit of cooking. Hopefully, now have plenty of levels queued up... in anticipation of my daughter's birth - any day now (we hope!).
  16. Definitely keep on writing, its great to know what you get up to. The pics are brilliant too.
  17. Yesterday a very tough day. Pushed on to complete my mahogany cutting (now complete :) ), and then planned to get a quick cooking level (one inventory of trouts away from 63). Struggled to find time to get to a computer to finish that one little job... but eventually managed it just before bed! Today 59 Strength back at the Chaos Druids. Still a long way to go to get Attack and Strength on the highscores though. Will try and juggle combat training with construction (will move house to Taverley) for the next few days, and then see whether I've got enough herbs to level some herblore!
  18. Got 57 Firemaking this morning burning logs on my Farming round. I've ended up with a load of pineapple seeds but no watermelons to pay for them with, so I've just supercomposted and hope for the best! With one more level I'll be able to start on Calquats (with a garden pie) so that will be a nice chunk of exp each day. Haven't got much further with the mahogany but should only need half an hour or so more's chopping to get to 1500.
  19. Never fear, I'm still here! 51 Herblore today. I didn't take a pic, not that exciting, just using up a few Tarromin as Serum 207.... Managed to chop a few more Mahogany (up to 1300 and something) as well. Are Mahagonies better exp and money than Yews? I've seen them offered for sale at 400ea but I'm not sure whether there's any real market for them. Mahogany planks sell fairly well for 2.2k but you've got to plank them (so that's 1.5k gone plus time consumption). Experience wise it seems very fast 40-45k per hour at my level with rune axe, but you do need a ton of trading sticks to bank effectively.
  20. 71 Woodcutting today. Almost ready to start on construction targets (quite excited now!). Draco Draco pointed out that I could get twice as many levels by selling mahogany planks for oak planks... But I love mahogany! Such fast experience and plus I can plank as I go with the Demon Butler. Almost managed to catch my sparkles on the image (think my technique is improving anyway). That's a birds nest behind me - I've had five or six whilst getting these logs (?rabbits foot effect kicking in at last), including two in the same load of logs. Haven't had a tree seed above willow though :(
  21. Just try and do one nice thing a day. Give someone some advice, lend them an item, or just give them some encouragement. Make the world a better place!
  22. Yesterday I chopped my way to 70 Woodcutting. (It was a pretty slow morning at work so I'm most of the way to level 71 now too). Today I mined gold ores to level 74 Mining. So that means I'm at 990/1500 Mahogany, and 568/1000 gold ores. So my plan for the week ahead is to try and get the rest of that Mahogany chopped, whilst levelling up any of my "nearly" skills as necessary and then four quick Construction levels (may be level up some combat stats in between Construction levels).
  23. If you want to take an extra item and still 3 item it, there's a spade spawn in the estate agents just south of the park.
  24. 440/1000 Gold mined 310/1500 Mahogany cut
  25. Chaos Druids this morning for 58 Defense. Was deserted first thing, but packed by mid morning (six guys chasing one druid :wall: ) Good herb drops though and quick using Fally teletabs. Very close to levelling herblore, cooking, firemaking, strength, attack and woodcutting now so plenty of options. Will try and update my gold and woodcutting goals tomorrow.
