  1. I pretty strongly disagree with this- when I used a tyro body mages still kicked my ass, and the melee def on plate is better. Plus no negative attack stats. But there's a good +17 magic defence bonus difference between sagittarian and tyranno. Magic defense is more sensitive to changes in bonuses than melee/ranged, so perhaps that last +17 magic def could make a noticible difference. Perhaps not. This is why I was hoping to hear something about it being tested. Quick answer would be platebody. Leatherbody might be better in some scenarios but it's pretty unlikely. The platebody is a better bind because people typically pray mage when there are mages/necros/books; so unless you do something different in that scenario, bind the plate. While I agree, the point was brought up that range defense actually doesn't help you that much, whereas magic defense does significantly. I'm not completely sure about this though. this is exactly why I brought this up now: there's been a lot of reasoning and rationalizing, but now they they have been released, I wonder what the hard data says. I'm guessing nobody's heard from the pro dungeoneers who have managed to obtain either body...
  2. Quick question: seeing as Primal platebody and Sagittarian leatherbody are now released (and hopefully tested), is there any consensus on which one makes a better bind?
  3. true >.> but it's not like I could buy even Elysian with 500m.
  4. I'd buy 95 prayer with frost dragon bones for ~200m, then I suppose I'd make oh....2.5k overloads, and buy arcane and spectral spirit shields :D
  5. I'm thinking of buying a spectral atm so...hat's the trend for them atm? I've noticed that they've been steadily dropping, but I have no idea why, and no idea if this is just a temporary drop in price or not...does anyone know?
  6. Today, i just ran some quick tests of whether or not Korasi's sword's spec ever misses, and the last (and imo, most exemplary) test was vidded, and well...here you go. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p2YtYpU8itA (sorry for the giant watermark, it is easier to see through them if you play it on youtube with a larger viewing area)
  7. Somehow, I'd highly doubt that, as you have to upgrade each part to elite voids, if you talk to him. I'd honestly like to see proof before I start believing piece of info...
  8. That's true. But if you don't have the time to complete another trip at any of those moneymakers, doing a herb run is definitely worth it, as that would be the best quick moneymaker within those time constraints (say half an hour, plenty of time to do some things, but real bossing is certainly not on that list).
  9. I've used the spec well over a hundred times already, and I've watched quite a few others use it too, and I have *never* once heard of a complete miss (discounting cyclopes at the warriors guild). Yes, lower hits sometimes, but that's the nature of the RNG. So I've got pretty good reason to believe that the spec does have 100% accuracy (even if it doesn't, heck, 99.99% accuracy is close enough for me!)
  10. You've got me thinking...well, isn't it also the best spec weapon for the Corp now? I think magic damage is not halved against the corp, but it's relative DPS against ranged/melee is so low (plus his magic defense) that its not worth it. BUT, doesn't that mean that the mage-based damage from the special would deal magic damage to the corp (aka, full damage, not halved) with 100% accuracy? EDIT: best spec weapon for FFA corp I meant.
  11. Obviously not. Mage basing means that the accuracy of the damage is calculated based on opponents defense against magical attacks, it's still a melee attack. Yeah its a mage based melee attack. That means its attack power is determined by your melee abilities; but it is blocked by the opponents magic defence; and it still counts as a melee attack. Yup I used it at tds it's always fun getting it to pray mage and continue meleeing, although it's not as effective as claws/maul on those :\ Wait so if you hit over 300 with it, the TD switches to pray mage? If that's true, considering demons have very low magic def, it could be the best spec weapon for TD's from now on- with claws, you'd be forced to switch to range after special, but now you can efficiently get two melee >31 hits in. mmhm, especiallly true with a ring of vigour, as it allows you to do korasi's sword spec and switch to claw spec immadiately, which is pretty amazing damage imo.
  12. Great. They don't all have to be killed. They respawn, but your archers kill them off before she can heal too much. Guess you out-hit the healing of 2 drones for a nice KO :).
  13. It is impossible to kill the Queen while she still has those spawn healers, and they can only be killed by the archers that come out to aid you. So basically, to beat her, spec with Korasi's sword to interrupt her spec (saves you tons of hp and keeps your helpers alive for longer), and immediately kill every defiler or whatever pest that keeps killing you archers. Once you have 8 archers surrounding the queen, and no defilers, THEN you really start to kill the Queen. From there, it's very straightforward hack and slash to kill, except spec with Koasi's sword as needed (NEVER run out of spec).
  14. Oh yeah. I'm going to try changing mine to white and see how I like the look. Atm though, it's very late for me, and I'm so tired....I'll do it tomorrow. I did use it extensively at clan wars today, both with and without pots, against all sorts of level and setups...and one thing that became very clear to me, was that Elite void knight gear seemed to make me exceptionally accurate. I ripped through lvl 138s with bandos and DFS as if they had rune, and I was quite surprised really, as I always hit at least a few 0s. What really startled me was, this was a fairly consistent effect, player after player. I even tested it against barrows gloves, and the drop in accuracy was very visible in longer fights. I know this is exactly what voids set effect is supposed to do, but I was surprised at how...effective it was, compared to my normal experience with voids. Long story short: does anyone else think that Elite void knight set provides a higher set effect boost than regular voids?
  15. honestly, once you see the full set together, the "hideous top" is basically a slightly modified void knights top, with a voids seal on, both recolored. Anwyays..here you go. Elite voids, executioner (black): not such a good pic, but it's all I have of full Elite voids, guardian (white): @Tim, you can change the color of the robe bottoms. Just use them on Commodore Tyr, and he'll offer to upgrade them for the cost of 100 Commendation points. However, he gives you no option to pick the color, and gives you the robe that matches your top. In other words, its not so much as "changing the color of the robe bottoms" as much as "changing the color of the set". EDIT: I honestly don't remember how to change the color of the set, but I think I heard money (100k?) was involved? If it does't cost any Commendation points, I'd be happy to change to all three kinds of Elite void knight armor for better quality pics (they are all identical except for looks).
  16. Perfect phrasing, and I agree with you 100%, Razz. That, and same for d long (hey, gee, I thought longswords were long, straight blades, not oversized, squat, bent shortswords...)
  17. The reward is a ring that turns you into a pile of bones, if Jagex actually commits to the outcome of their guaranteed content poll back several months ago...and personally, i'm hoping they will :) Although I really hope that this halloween event is a non-recycled event, and is actually fun for once...it annoys me when Jagex gets lazy with events and throws some crap together.
  18. Yes, that was (imo) clearly the best of them all...same for d long, it just looks ugly now. I honestly think Jagex should offer the original (not current) as a choice. Jagex really should have polled for the original change imo, but I guess Jagex will always send out the Graphics team on silly, irritating, and unwanted projects....
  19. I'd be interested if they did polls like this for redesigning other unchanged content...before changing it then polling for another redesign. examples: potions sprites, longswords, d mace, barrows, godswords, etc.
  20. That's my point, you end up using CR for everything, so CLS is hardly used at all. And in all honesty, it's great that you melee Zilyana with CLS, but wouldn't it be better to CM maul her, or even use veracs? Veracs may be accurate when it's special is activated. But other than that...meh. CLS's accuracy applys to it all the time. Not to mention it has way more strength than a v flail. And I wouldn't know what the CM's dps is like on sara; as I don't have one. What you say about veracs, that's interesting because I thought it was only so-so with its regular attack (crush of course), and the special just made it even more accurate. Hm guess not quite so. I've seen CLS at solo sara, and it's good, although CM is definitely better (a good bit more accurate, and you can hit-and-run without wasting any potential hits). About solo sara, do you need a rune defender in order to hit Zilyana well, or could you use something such as Ely/Divine/Spectral and do just fine?
  21. That's my point, you end up using CR for everything, so CLS is hardly used at all. And in all honesty, it's great that you melee Zilyana with CLS, but wouldn't it be better to CM maul her, or even use veracs?
  22. Rapier and CLS are fairly similar, so while you use one (most likely rapier) a lot, the other won't get used much, which makes it pretty much a waste of 200k tokens. On the other hand, if you had 2 more diverse chaotic weapons, such as say, rapier and maul, the different attack styles makes the combo more versatile (same for chaotic crossbow + rapier, etc). Of course, im not saying that rapier + CLS is a bad combo, but it's just definitely not the best. In other words, rapier + CLS combo is something that should only be gotten after your first two chaotic weapons. I believe you posted where CLS/rapier is good at, take a look at that list, and tell me where Rapier/Maul combo, or even CLS/Maul, or Rapier/Crossbow wouldn't be better than Rapier/CLS combo.
  23. ah...well guess that answers my question. and no, I can't test these things myself, I'm only 73 dungeoneering, and in any case, getting rapier + CLS before anything else is a pretty dumb idea, and I don't think I'll be dungeoneering enough to get more than 2 chaotic weapons.
  24. I tested this quite a bit of time ago, and rapier is worse than zs/ss, but not by alot(10% or so). That's interesting, actually. Although how do we know they have good slash defense? I've whipped them before, and it wasn't half bad. seeing as rapier can fare decently at waterfiends with +137 stab attack (whole setup), I wonder if CLS would be noticibly more accurate with +174 slash attack (or +150 stab, but im assuming that rapier would still have better DPS on waterfiends if you used stab with CLS). Has anyone tested CLS slashing on waterfiends compared to rapier, and tried on task vs off task?
  25. If you apply that "potting every 5-8 minutes" to normal range potions then you are doing exactly what I stated already. Every minute equals 1 boosted level. So say if you pot every let's say 7 minutes, you pot after your stats have dropped 7 levels, which makes your range 105/99. This is exactly what I've been saying the whole time, so I don't know where you keep going with this. And if you want me to apply this to extremes, I'm just saying that potting every 17 minutes will make extremes cheaper than if you pot every 5-8 minutes. This can also be seen in my original post. L Kirby, what he means is, whether it is extremes or supers, most people repot after, say, 5 minutes. There, the picture isn't quite so clear: does the higher boost of extremes more than make up for the extra cost of repotting every 5 minutes compared to repotting every 5 minutes with supers? That'd be interesting to figure out. Myself, I repot less often with extremes, but I usually wait for x-level as that's harder to mess up (for melee, I wait until I'm down to 110). Ah, but let's say you challenge that dynamic and alter your use of extremes accordingly. If you would repot every so-and-so minutes at 105/99 with regulars, you could instead repot at 105/99 every such-and-such minutes with extremes and there you go, it's potentially cheaper for an even better boost. That's completely true, but I feel that (ideally) I'd like to be at a sufficiently noticeably high boost, which happens to be around 110 for me (with melee). However, if I used supers, I'd just be repotting too often, so with supers, I tend to settle for a lower level before repotting. With extremes though, i boost high enough that it lasts for quite a while before dropping down to 110, so i have no problem with drinking away a dose of extremes every time my melee stats drop down to 110. You're right, that's not the most cost-effective use of extremes vs supers, but at least I can finally get the boost I want with extremes, and have it last sufficiently long enough that i don't feel like I'm overpaying for my boost. For me, that satisfaction is worth it. (Well worth it with more extremes than I know what to do with banked)
