Food
To anyone who enjoys bacon... The night before, place a couple strips in a ziplock bag, and add some maple syrup and ground black pepper to the bag. Squeeze the bag around so the bacon gets covered with the maple syrup. Leave it in the fridge overnight and cook the bacon like normal the next day. It tastes [bleep]ing incredible... I had it today with scrambled eggs and a cream cheese bagel.

blip.fm
Heh, that's how I feel about Twitter. And blip.fm is basically (the music version of) Twitter, so you should think that blip.fm is stupid too. :P Blip.fm is inspired by Twitter, but it uses the idea of "tweeting" to serve a very different purpose: massive online music sharing. The two sites are completely different. With blip.fm, each user acts as a "DJ" to their own "radio show", so to speak. The ease of searching by music taste and following/messaging other DJs makes it an incredible site for music enthusiasts. In the short time that I've been using blip.fm, I've already found plenty of great new albums and artists that I wouldn't have otherwise. Twitter is a stupid site, but the idea behind it has opened the gates for a wealth of potentially useful services -- e.g. sharing music, art, food recipes, games, books, or what have you.

blip.fm
Anyone use blip.fm? In short, it's like Twitter for music. You "blip" (i.e. tweet) a song that comes to mind, and it will be added to your profile. You can listen to "blips" by clicking them. You can send messages to other users, search users by their music taste, create playlists from your blips, etc. It's an excellent way to quickly try new music, as well as share and expand your own music library. If you've got a profile, post it! Here's mine: http://blip.fm/blipbeat

What are you listening to right now!?
Dope! Listening to "Love Line", a beautiful hip-hop production by Exile (instrumental). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7NMMo1iBv_g Blu does a good job of rapping over the beat:

teh_langzor: Aesop has some good beats, but I've never liked his rapping. You should keep an eye out for Felt's upcoming album (here's a single) -- it's being produced by Aesop. The Felt duo (Slug from Atmosphere and MURS) are, in my opinion, far better at rapping than Aesop. Food, Clothes, Medicine: Not liking this flow, it sounds abrupt and forced. The beat is OK. No Regrets: Better flow IMO, this one is much more of a head-nodder. Good storytelling, albeit a little rushed at times. Abandon All Hope: I'm really diggin' the intro and beat, but I'm not a fan of the rapping. I'll post another pick later, it'll either by psychedelic ambient or more hip-hop.

Should marijuana remain illegal? Why should it be legal?
Some relevant news... How Oakland Is Leading Marijuana Legalization Source: http://www.newsweek.com/id/217942

The worst thing you've ever tasted?
Magic mushrooms or a shot of vinegar. Both taste awful, and neither sits well in your stomach! Whaaat!? White Russians are delicious.

Should marijuana remain illegal? Why should it be legal?
Yet the majority of people who own knives do not misuse them. The same applies to weed: the majority of users are not abusers (i.e. do not become addicted, etc). "Batching" a joint with tobacco does not make it any easier of a job -- in fact, it becomes a much more difficult task. Most joints -- especially in North America -- are not rolled with tobacco. Even if marijuana smokers did roll with a mixture of tobacco, occasionally smoking a couple of "batched" joints would not contribute to cancer any more than occasionally smoking a cigarette or cigar, or for that matter occasionally inhaling carcinogens from a vehicle or campfire. And here lies your problem.... Try reading some literature on the subject, rather than basing your opinion off a few personal anecdotes. When marijuana becomes decriminalized, I imagine the UK will follow the rest of the industrialized world.

FlashForward
I've been trying to wrap my head around the whole idea of the "flash forwards" ... In the last episode... EDIT:

Psst, those are two different artists... I prefer instrumental pieces when it comes to classical music, but that was still nice. I enjoyed the piano in the second piece. Here's my next pick... This time an indie/experimental band, Blitzen Trapper. Just heard about them today, already a fan. Furr Honourable mentions: Black River Killer, Lady On the Water

What did you have for lunch today?
Fine-grain bread with ham and cheese toasted in a toaster iron until it's golden? For some reason the Norwegian name for that is wiener toast. Hmm? French toast is any kind of toast that's coated with an egg and milk mixture, then cooked. One variation of Monte Cristo is a grilled ham and cheese sandwich, using French toast as the bread. Give it a try, it tastes delicious and it's about as easy as a grilled cheese... Use a frying pan, or better yet a sandwich press. Add some Dijon or honey mustard for a nice kick!

FlashForward
Haven't seen tonight's episode, but the other two weren't bad! I'll watch tonight's episode later tomorrow. The episodes are a little slow and drawn out, though, and the main pull seems to be the cliffhanger endings. I can't really see it as the next Lost...

Bahamadia the one featured on Respect the Architect. She has a cool flow and voice -- I've been a fan since I heard her on that song. Check out her discography for more. jerkd00d Rasberry Fields - Interesting... Has a very dark and graphic sound. I don't mind the intro, but the rapper is too aggressive for my tastes. He could be rapping about anything and it would still sound aggressive because of his delivery and/or voice. Reminds me of MF Doom. Battle for Asgard - Again, the beginning caught my ear... Starts off sounding like an interesting abstract hip-hop piece, but then quickly turns into (what sounds like) an aggressive verbal attack on the listener. Real Earth - Ditto with the above, and I'm not a fan of the lyrics... There isn't much connecting one thought to the next. I've always appreciated El-P's production ability, but his work is generally too 'dark' for me to listen to on a regular basis. Adding Vast Aire's voice seems to make it even darker, and even more difficult to enjoy... Sorry, not feeling it! I'll post my next pick soon -- it isn't hip-hop.

I love this idea and hope it picks up. Intriguing's picks... Sahara Swing - Love the laid-back jazzy feel, definitely something I will listen to again. (Blipped it on blip.fm) Followed Path - I'm not a fan of the organ-sounding instrument -- seems to take away from the rest of the song. I'm not feeling this one Debere - The "organ" sound worked a lot better here IMO. I can dig this track! I wish it was a little longer, it seems to go by so quickly... Stone's Throw has some fantastic artists, including J Dilla and Madlib. Wongtong's picks... Brick by Boring Brick - Sorry, not a fan. Sounds like most other pop music these days. Heavy and repetitive electric guitar, strained female voice, etc. Misguided Ghosts - Much better. Not so heavy, her voice doesn't sound strained, the guitar sounds great. I like it. All I Wanted - The start is OK, but it degrades into pop-punk in no time... Too much screaming, heavy guitar and drums... My ears can't handle it. My pick is Guru and his solo hip-hop and jazz fusions. Guru is the MC/vocal half of the very influential hip-hop group Gang Starr, together with DJ Premier on DJ/production. Since 1993, Guru has released 4 Jazzmatazz volumes. It's hard to pick just three tracks, as there are so many gems in the series... (from Vol 1)Transit Ride (from Vol 1) Respect The Architect (from Vol 2) For further listening, see: "Living Legends", "Take a Look", "Life Saver", "Looking Through the Darkness". PS: Youtube quality is generally extremely poor. Add &fmt=6 to the end of the URL for higher quality sound (I've already added it on my links).

Different Albums from a Different Poster! Erk's 30 Albums!
Lots of great classics on this list. I'm a huge fan of rap/hip-hop, especially jazz fusions. I've got Three Feet High and Rising, but I could never really get into it. I'm now listening to some tracks off De La Soul's other albums you recommended, and I'm really liking it so far. Thanks! If you don't already know them, I'd highly suggest Us3's Hand On The Torch (Cantaloop) and Guru's Jazzmatazz ( , Transit Ride).

Recommend an artist/band to the poster above you
Three recommendations from varying genres... 1. J Dilla produced a wealth of incredible instrumental hip-hop pieces before his untimely death. Last Donut of the Night 2. Kaleidoscope is an underrated 60s psychedelic rock band that's well worth a look! The Sky Children 3. Easy Star All-Stars is a reggae/dub band that become popular after their dub covers of The Dub Side of the Moon and Radiodread. It's a fresh reggae spin on some classic albums. -- I'm looking for more jazz/hip-hop fusions (like Guru and Us3), electronic (like Ratatat), abstract/glitch hop (like FlyLo, Dilla, Dabrye and Bullion), and soul music (like Erykah Badu). Any suggestions? If you like Shpongle (psybient), check out Bluetech, 1200 Mics, and Nosaj Thing. I'd also recommend to anyone looking for some generally psychedelic music (be sure to use headphones and an optional spliff for the full experience).

Music that makes you want to kill yourself (not emo)
k00ldud95 I see where you're coming from -- MTV and popular music is, for the most part, forgettable garbage. The majority of songs I have in my library date to pre-'88. Having said that, there are still hundreds if not thousands of incredibly gifted modern-day musicians. You just need to look a little harder to find them...
