Relaxation techniques
Look into meditation. There are a variety of techniques including a few that have already been mentioned in this thread. EDIT: It's called essential tremor, here is some more info: http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/essent ... or/DS00367

Re-done portrait
I prefer the old one. A little more crisp and neat, not so blurry. The new one is a little doll-faced and all the interesting details seem to have been lost.

Are the UK's laws on alcohol causing problems?
Care to show sources for that? I think adopting a more relaxed cultural sentiment towards (responsible) young drinking can really help improve youth drinking problems.

Zamorak godsword
It's cool, but it really needs to be smoothed out and skinned. It could also be a lot lower in terms of polycount. The hand model is great. Box modeling? PS: Autodesk isn't a program. I'm guessing either 3ds or Maya...

Increase the delay and cut a couple frames out. You will have the same effect but it will be more understandable. Right now it looks like a naked thing is puking and a blue T-shirt is bleeding on it. :? It's very confusing at that speed... Took me a while before I realized what it actually is.

Game art digipainting (WIP)
Game art for a pirate game, drawn in Photoshop. The guns are inspired by WoW, of course. :D Still a work in progress, as you can tell...

America+Middle Eastern=Racism?
I don't think it would be a problem if it wasn't for America's war propaganda and the media coverage of 9/11. Now everyone's caught up thinking all Muslims and Middle Easterns are terrorists. :? No, he's not being racist. The "stereotypical terrorist" is something that has been defined by the media, and he is simply saying that he doesn't know any Muslims that look like one. (Rightfully so, as most Muslims do not) On one plane ride I sat next to a Muslim man who, unfortunately, fit the stereotype very well. He wore the traditional robes and a turban, he didn't speak English, he had no luggage, and he was reciting Arabic prayers the entire flight. I'll admit I felt uneasy, even though I had no reason to believe he was any more of a terrorist than the fat white male a seat up. The power of the American media is scary. :ohnoes:

If you are unconscious, you are in an altered state of consciousness/mind. And yes, they are very different states. I'm not saying being on drugs and being asleep are the same thing, but rather that they both induce an altered state of conciousness from your normal, waking reality. That is a huge generalization, and it is in no way true. Like Reb has said, if you've never heard of people lightly enjoying wine, beer and other alcoholic drinks with their meals, then you really do need to get out more. I've seen addictions ranging from marijuana to coffee to video games to Chinese food. It's very hard to stay away from anything that could be potentially addicting, as almost anything in this world is. Rather than fearing every substance and activity for its potential addiction, I choose to live in moderation.

Heh, the joys of the media. :D The main distinction between "hard" drugs and "soft" drugs is their level of physical harm and dependence. Based on that, although much of North America would argue otherwise, alcohol and nicotine are often considered hard drugs. Since drugs like LSD, magic mushrooms and marijuana are relatively low in harm and dependence, they are often considered soft drugs. Use of the terms may vary based on societal expectation -- most parents in America would discourage their children from doing hard drugs but are fine with them drinking alcohol. For more details, Wikipedia provides a quick summary on the terms: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hard_and_soft_drugs MDMA (Ecstasy) is an "in-between" drug because studies often vary on its bodily harm and dependence. I wouldn't try a drug like MDMA simply because I have not found enough definitive studies about its health effects. Heroin is a hard drug which I do not think anyone should use. However, when you classify LSD as a hard drug and alcohol as a softer drug, I feel obligated to correct you. LSD is almost never injected or snorted, and it is extremely low in physical harm and dependence. Smoked marijuana is more physically harmful to you than LSD. LSD is less addicting than caffeine and marijuana.[1][2][3] It's nearly impossible to overdose on.[4] LSD is cleared out of your system in a matter of days -- which is much faster than other drugs, such as marijuana.[5] If you take LSD in a responsible set and setting, and you are prepared for the trip, than it can be an extremely safe and very enlightening experience. On the other hand, alcohol has been ranked more addicting than cocaine (nasal) and heroin in certain situations.[6] In any case, it is certainly more addicting than MDMA or LSD. It's extremely easy to overdose on alcohol and it causes thousands of deaths per year. It is in no way a "soft" drug, no matter what the media portrays it as. What's my point? If people can enjoy alcohol responsibly without damaging their liver or getting addicted, why are you so against people enjoying drugs like marijuana and LSD responsibly, which have shown to be far safer than alcohol? If you want to continue the discussion on soft drugs, I have a steady thread with a lot of info: http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?t=690812

Merry Xmas, From DivX
DivX is compliant with MPEG-4 encoding, so if iPods support that, then yes. But I'm not sure if iPod supports MPEG-4.. Was just giving an example as to why you may want to compress a video. :)

sleep,nightmaires, must read
Once I dreamed I had cancer and I was dying. The dream seemed to last for years, it felt extremely real. In my dream, I had finally come to embrace death, the feeling was serene. When I finally awoke, it took me a couple of minutes to realize it was all just a dream, and that I was fine. Looking back at it now, it didn't feel much like a nightmare. :)

Rate or HAte new grunge signature best one so far?
And by weapons I guess you mean boobs? :D Everything in the sig seems to point towards her chest... Hell, you even cut off some of her head. The sig is unoriginal and pretty basic IMO. The text is a little difficult to read, and the colours are a bit bland. Also, it's generally not good practice to use pure white and black for shading, those colours are a bit too harsh on the eyes. :)

Of course you can have fun without the use of alcohol/drugs. :-s Take video games, for example. Many people say they play video games because it is "fun". That doesn't mean life isn't fun without video games, it simply means that video games can help you amplify your "fun". In the same way, life is fun without alcohol/drugs, but those substances, when used responsibly, can help amplify your fun.

Why are you so afraid of being in an altered state of mind? When you sleep, you are experiencing an altered state of mind. Meditation is another harmless method of inducing an altered state, and so is an out of body experience. Both meditation and OBEs are regarded as spiritual experiences. That sounds stupid and irresponsible. #-o Notice my original question asked whether you have tried drinking responsibly. Apparently, you have not. You are referring to irresponsible users of drugs/alcohol. As the articles said, light to moderate drinking can be benefitial. If you drink or smoke more than you should, it can be detrimental to your health. The same applies to any activity. For example, if you lifted weights more than you should, there is a good chance that you could destroy your muscles and render them useless. Hah, that sounds pretty awful. Reminds me of a Dave Chappelle bit about how white men only talk about weed when they're high. Yes, I won't deny that being high is often an experience best suited around others who are also high. : But you talk as if laughing and "irrelevant" conversations are a bad thing. It sounds a lot like you are the one with self control issues. Myself, along with all other light to moderate users of drugs/alcohol, have enough self control to enjoy these substances responsibly. You can't seem to wrap your head around the idea of "responsible" use of certain activities or substances. I think part of the problem is that you have never tried these activities in a responsible and enjoyable setting.

Are you saying that a wise man will never do anything potentially harmful in his life? Don't walk next to a tall building -- falling ice may hit you. Don't go on a roller coaster -- it might derail. Don't play a sport -- you may injure yourself. Don't drive in a car -- you may crash. There's a fine line between being wise and being paranoid. I disagree. These things are not stupid, they are merely abused/mistreated by "stupid" people who do not have good judgement. Partying - Dancing, talking and socializing with other humans is not at all stupid and is rarely ever physically harmful. Drinking - Alcohol is not a "stupid" drug. In fact, light to moderate drinking has shown to increase IQ and reduce risk of cancers and cardiac events.[1][2][3] Drugs - Most drugs are not "stupid". Medicinal drugs are extremely useful and can often help cure you of sickness/disease. Recreational drugs can be used responsibly as a mind-expansion tool and also allow you to experience an altered state of mind, which is often a pleasing feeling. Soft drugs have shown to be less addicting than common substances such as caffeine.[4] These soft drugs are also extremely low in bodily harm (hence the name "soft"). Hard drugs are, of course, a different matter, but, aside from alcohol, these are not generally substances used by those wishing to live life to the fullest. These things, when used responsibly, can make you "feel good" and can also benefit your physical and social abilities. Of course, abuse of these activities can lead to future problems, but by abusing substances and living doped up all the time you are not living life to the fullest. I would love to ask, have you ever responsibly tried soft drugs, partying or drinking? Or are you just assuming that they are "teh badz", as you so aptly put it.

Merry Xmas, From DivX
Excellent find. :) Thanks. DivX Pro comes with the Pro codec, which allows for more flexible quality & compression control. A nice bonus for anyone who's looking into video compression (for example, squeezing more onto your iPod video).

I somewhat agree with NorthernHero. Heaven would be very boring after a while. What's more, the lineups to talk to God would be HUGE. :x What/who are you referring to?

Hi, need some opinions for this camera.
I have a D40 and I'm very happy with it. I don't use any other lenses than the zoom lens that it comes with. This is more than enough for a novice photographer. It's also a lot cheaper than it used to be. If you're comfortable with the price, then I recommend it. :D

Interesting. :) But I disagree. God does not affect atheists -- but rather the concept of God -- in the same way that death does not affect humans while we live. The concept of death, though, can strongly influence our lives (whether or not we choose to embrace it). To many, only the concept of God is real. I think there are other factors (oxygen, thought, language, etc.) that have affected humans much more than any religious debates ever will.

You've summed up my views on irresponsible sex. I never suggested that responsible sex includes "stupid 15 year olds screwing around". If it came down to that, abortion should be an option. If you accidentally got your girlfriend pregnant, would you support her choice in abortion? Or would you feel that forcing yourself, your girlfriend and your future child to a lifetime of suffering would be the better option? It's a horrible thing to see the loss of a fetus, but, in my mind, it would be worse to permanantly ruin the lives of the entire family. Of course, your girlfriend can also put the child up for adoption. I never suggested protection was that effective. Condoms are around 97% effective, if used perfectly every time, and most people don't use them perfectly every time. In life there is always a chance that things will go wrong. Sometimes, unfortunately, things do go wrong. But there is no point in living in total fear. Imagine if you refused to drive or be driven in the winter simply because you're afraid you may get in an accident. In any case, abstinence is often something that is "easier said than done". You'd be a hypocrite to say otherwise, as you admit that you've had pre-marital sex even though you so strongly discourage it. Yes, it's a "bad habbit", but so is drinking, drug use, gambling, gaming, etc. These things do not immediately mean "life = over" (again, you are proof of that) but rather that excessive or irresponsible use can potentially result in future problems. Moderate and responsible use can often be fun and sometimes even benefitial. :) Anyways, this isn't the place to be discussing abortion or pre-marital sex. We should go back to theism.. :-#

Ever heard of abortion? :) Either way, that's a pretty big "what if". Of course, if you refuse to use any sort of protection (condoms, the pill, whatnot) then sex becomes quite risky/unsafe. But, when done responsibly with proper protection, the chances of pregnancy are minute. But, on the same note, irresponsible use of any sort of activity can result in "teh badz". I'm curious, do you regret it?
