The Tier List Thread.
Tier lists seem entirely pointless for anything that isn't an actual game being played for large competition. I mean, a tier list for kirby? Why? That being said I don't like them anyways, and I think that communities focus too much on the idea of a tier list. It gets incredibly annoying in a game such as SF4, where players will [bleep] about characters being in a "god tier", even though they may only have a win or two over other characters. Chances are you aren't playing at such a competitive level that you will make no flaws and character balance will come into consideration, so why bother complaining about it? In casual play they are just downright stupid though. Especially when someone complains about another playing as a cheap or "god tier" character.

Official Aion thread (Visions update)
And the OBT week is (pretty much) down. Had a lot of fun this week, got to level 28, did a ton of PvP and did my first instance in Aion. Tomorrow I'll do a big write up on my opinions on how the open beta went and what I think we can expect for launch.

Acekard Flash Carts Lasting Effects?
Yeah I don't have any knowledge on the DSi and homebrew. On the DSLite it doesn't have any effects at all, but I'm not sure what the difference is with system updates and such.

I never did learn Terragen 2. I really should though. Does it have any similarities to the first? I like the clouds in the current landscape. :)

You mean Big the Cat? Because that was in Sonic Adventure 1.

Are YOU a fanboy?
Just to clarify, I'm not saying people can't like/dislike different things. Some people might like a bad game, some people might like a good game. I'm talking about an entire different set of credentials in which to judge a game on.

Are YOU a fanboy?
You're wrong. Personal opinion is only a small factor to this all. There are such thing as terrible games, and there are such thing as terrible series. If it hurts your feelings too bad, it's the truth. And that is all there is to it.

Worst Game You've Ever Played?
So people aren't allowed to have an opinion anymore? Not that I support bashers, but if they provide reasons of why it's bad, then they have somewhat of a merit to call it a bad game. For example, I can most certainly call Super Mario Galaxy the worst game because of its awful camera, it has bad co-op, no replayability, and the stars are too easy to get. (Nah, that's not what I really think, I think SMG is a great game despite those bad points.) Also there is no such thing as "having standards". There is only such thing as "opinion". You can hold your opinion just as much as I can hold the opinion that you're biased and really have no clue. Opinion only goes to a certain extent. You might not like a game like Galaxy, but it is certainly not the worst game ever made. If it's the worst game you've ever played than you really need to play more games! Of course there isn't much to expect from, again, a kid who's name is "Sonic" and who actually enjoys the recent 3D Sonic games. Just nothing but personal bias, no matter how much you want to tout around your opinion (you're still wrong). Also you realize that a lot of critics have a much better idea on what it takes for a good game than you do, right? Believe it or not there are several aspects on which you can judge a game, and even though someone may enjoy it it won't make it any less terrible. Well yeah, overrated and "worst game ever" are slightly different things, are they not? I think the Halo series is overrated as hell, and they are generic FPS gatherings which market themselves to the lowest common denominator. However, they by no means at all are the worst games I have ever played, far from it actually. Slightly on topic, I have to say Dragons Lair for the NES was pretty goddamn [bleep]ing awful. Actually a lot of NES games were downright terrible, it's sad to think that it was the NES that drug us out of the gaming crash, because it did not have a ton of great games.

This is exactly why Sonic's community is the worst. :wall: People never learn to have an opinion, they just get disappointed at games. It's not the fact that people don't have an opinion, it is the plain and simple fact that Sonic The Hedgehog (360) was a giant piece of [cabbage]. Sonic Unleashed is just a plain piece of [cabbage]. Sure it has it's good points but I still find the prospect of a werehog [developmentally delayed] and totally unnecessary. I personally think Sonic team needs to quit. The series is dead, I don't think there is a hope of a good Sonic game on a console unless somebody else took over. I never agree with ratchet... but this? I agree with this. I stand by my opinion that you only like these because they are marketed to your age. They aren't good sonic games by any means. So you want more terrible ripoffs of the Sonic franchise? Sonic Racing games should have died with Sonic R. I really don't think we're on the same page. The camera is a little old, but I just can not fathom how you could think the Mario 64 camera was worse than the Sonic Adventure camera. And, please, I don't need any of your "MY OPINION" stuff shouted out, some things like camera control just are not very subjective.

IGN's top 25 best videogame consoles of all time
I think the 360 rightfully deserves a spot on a top list. Sure, if you look at just it's retail games it might be a kind of thin library depending on how you look at it. But if you look at the live arcade you have an incredible collection of very solid indie titles, some which are some of the most brilliant games of this generation (Braid, anyone?). I think when you look at how well they have integrated Live into the console as well it really does deserve some kind of mention.

Are YOU a fanboy?
See, I think this is why you prefer the newer ones. You didn't play Sonic 2, or any of the genesis versions, when you were a kid. I mean you were born 4 years after the release of Sonic 2 afterall. (if you're curious, I'm 21) This isn't me trying to put any bias against you due to your age, but you fit the age group in which Sega is marketing the new sonic games to. On the shadow thing, I didn't really like him. I much preferred Chaos as a villain compared to him. Any sort of weird, moral ambiguity they were trying to throw out with shadow is completely necessary in a game like Sonic. Chaos was cool because he was able to really show off the power of the Dreamcast with some of the badass cutscenes. :D Metal sonic is badass as well. -- Speaking of the best sonic though, I think I have to retract my thing about Sonic 2 and say that Sonic CD is, indeed, the best sonic game ever made. Incredible time travel mechanics, an awesome villain and some incredible level design, art and music. So yeah, if there is any sonic game that needs more praise it is Sonic CD.

Well at least I know why you named yourself Sonic. No amount of personal bias could somehow think the camera in Sonic Adventure 1 and 2 were anything but terrible. At the very least camera control has advanced a lot since the dreamcast. I understand this is in a fanboy thread, so at least you're true to the nature, but holy hell man, have you played either of the Sonic Adventures recently? Trust me, I have fond memories of the games (I've actually played through the 1st a few times, which is quite something.) but the camera controls were terrible. (almost as bad as the voice acting). Also Sonic 2 really was the best sonic. The rush series is decent, but the newer rush one that incorporated that weird jetski mechanic was pretty boring. There is no way they can trump the older one though, sorry. Is Sonic Riders = Sonic R (for the saturn)? I only remember if by Sonic R back in the day. If so it was a pretty amusing game back in the day, because it was sonics first intro into 3D (Minus the isometric Sonic Blast which was actually pretty fun I thought). --- Of course typing all this I have to wonder, how old are you? This really is not a derogatory thing, but I almost think like some of us have outgrown sonic. Granted, the older games were pretty much always better, but Sonic def has a new audience now than he used to.

Virtual console ~~~~Wich system would you like to see in it?
Saturn, if I had a Wii that is. There are some classics on that system that are a must have and that very few people I think have experienced.

MikkoToivonen.Com V2
Few things I noticed on your old one: - Linking to DevART seems like a kind of bad idea, personally. Not only does the user have to actually use their browsers back function to get back to your site but it really just kind of detracts from it all. - The left justification is pretty annoying on my widescreen monitor, forcing me to turn and keep my head all the way to the left, instead of comfortably in the center of the screen. The layout width is just too small to justify like that well. - I'm half and half on the background, not sure if I like it or not really. - I would try and have it so that you always have the links to the 4 different parts (home/about/work/contact) on each page, instead of just a small "back to homepage" thing in the upper left. - The frames are ickyickyickyickyickyickyicky. Yeah, they're bad and I would get rid of them ASAP! My advice for the new one: - I would try and maybe stick away from the little vector circles in the background. They look a little tacky. - The off centered links is a cool idea, but I don't know how practical it is. Probably not a big deal though. - Make sure all your text is not Anti-Alised (learned this tip from someone else), since you will eventually need to have that anyways for your site. - I like the twitter thing, it's a neat idea to have.

Sonic Advance and the Rush series are both solid. I really enjoyed Sonic Adventure 1 and 2 as well, even though they had the worst camera control ever contrived by man. Any sonic game afterwords that hasn't been confined to a handheld thus far has sucked terribly though. Sonic Heroes probably was an average game, but nothing compared to the older ones. A lot of people feel like after Sonic 2 sonic died, which there is a little bit of truth to that one too. I guess just being a huge fan of the saturn/dreamcast though that I have a soft spot for the sonic games on those.

Worst Game You've Ever Played?
For me it does. A game can play like [cabbage], look like [cabbage], and be absolutely [developmentally delayed], but if it's fun, then I like it. On the other hand, a game can be gorgeous, play well, and be received by the masses as one of the best games ever, but if I don't get into it, then it's not fun. If it's not fun, It's a bad game. So you are saying every bad game you played is the worst game you have ever played? Just how like every Friday night out is the "best night ever" or how every joke your friend Steve tells is, like seriously, the funniest joke ever. :wall: Yeah, no kidding. It's just a defense thing for some reason. If someone prefers and older game they'll say anything they can to defend a favorite. And it really doesn't matter if the actual game is vastly different, because in the end it still is a sequel to the one before it. If they change up the formula drastically (which they did not in SSBB) and it sucks than why would it be any surprise that players would enjoy the prequel better? Also Joe, your MG to MGS analogy is flawed, because MGS wasn't a continuation of the "Metal Gear" series, it was a part of the "Metal Gear Solid" series.
