  1. Everywhere except Lumbride was a PKing zone back when I died in 2001.
  2. It wasn't in Lumbridge, it was more like the cow field near Lumbridge.
  3. I think I was killed by another player near Lumbridge.
  4. Before the friends list came out players communicated by typing their private message in the regular chat but preceded by "tell [player name]". For example, "tell bob hey what's up?". At one point I said something along the lines of "tell me later, I'm just about to go for dinner" and RuneScape said something like "there is no user me". So I then registered that name and got a flood of messages from people using the tell system. IIRC Moderator registered the name 'you' for a similar reason.
  5. In June 2002 Jagex ran a beta server to test their new database back-end (linked to their new customer support system), and on that everyone had to create new accounts and start from scratch. It was fun, but I doubt such a thing will be repeated.
  6. Their trademark on the term FunOrb seems to be for their new mini-games brand. Think back to the mini-games page on Jagex's site where it says "our other multiplayer games will be returning soon in a new suite, but updated and improved with many new features". Jagex have also stated in job vacancies that they intend for their mini-game comeback to be used as a launchpad for a later mobile phone game service (see http://forums.rsbandb.com/about54415.html for more info).
  7. ixfd64 is not mistaken. 1. December 3rd is Andrew's birthday - see http://www.tip.it/runescape/index.php?news&id=1588 2. On Jul 25th 2001 on #RuneScape MrAndrew said he was the 22 3. So it'd be his 29th birthday Happy Birthday Andrew Christopher Gower!
  8. Death Note ftw Indeed. In fact, you could team up with M (Mello) and N (Near) and wander around RuneScape tracking down Kira.
  9. That was me. There wasn't a character limit when I signed up in 2001.
  10. Jagex's RuneScape logo: Jagex's MechScape logo (from EU trademark, source): Jagex's FunOrb logos (from UK trademark): NBC's Heroes logo:
  11. Imre J is Mod Hobagoly and has been RuneScape's Head of Game Content since June 2006. Henrique O has been the Lead Designer for MechScape since around January 2006.
  12. Hey, this is Ren of MechScape Central. I'd just like to point out this statement from Andrew Gower in a May 2007 interview (source):
  13. They allow for the classroom PCs to be used for LAN gaming during lunch break and have purchased multiplayer games for this purpose, yet when students log onto the computer they have to agree to the "rules of use", one of which is that they won't use the PC for the purpose of playing computer games. Nobody would ever get in trouble for it, but authorised gamers are technically breaking the rules as written.
  14. I can't find one with Killa Priest at number 1, but there is this and this.
  15. I'm working my way through A Song of Fire and Ice right now, actually - and thoroughly enjoying it. The story, plot and characterisations are good. It downplays the fantasy element a lot, although I don't know if that is a good or a bad thing. One of the things I like most about it is that it isn't good versus evil, it is just different perspectives and ideologies.
  16. I'm a big fan of Terry Pratchett's Discworld series and Ursula K. Le Guin's Earthsea series. But you can't go wrong with Isaac Asimov (I, Robot) or Philip K. [bleep] (Blade Runner, Total Recall, The Minority Report).
  17. Lol I love the irony of that statment and your tif name, btw your tif is awesome Heh, I so didn't notice the irony when I wrote that. And it isn't just my tif name, its my RS name too.
  18. When I do public speaking I create a persona who is very much like myself but more confident, then act as that persona. Then I'm like "they aren't judging me, they are judging the persona I made, and that ain't as personal".
  19. (From the Unofficial Andrew Gower Archive forum) Top 25 player killers - score is number of kills (13 Aug 2001) 1: Dark_Archer8 1300 2: Darkarcherr8 875 3: Killa_Priest 739 4: Ray22oo22 616 5: Cortes66 582 6: Killer_Lord 559 7: Demon__Devil 557 8: Frank_Gotti 522 9: Mulerboy321 502 10: Killa_Ranger 495 11: X_Shadow_X 487 12: 40oz_Slayer 479 13: Newb_Sniper 457 14: Sexy_Paki 453 15: Royal_Force3 451 16: Sampkreturns 449 17: Tammisman 422 18: Fightgirl 419 19: Killurdad 414 20: Shadowkillaz 411 21: Sn1p3r_Stud 407 22: Pak1 402 23: Haveaniceday 402
  20. Ignite was one of Andrew's accounts.
  21. 7.6/10 - nice, but needs to look more fluid. Does your name mean "I Mad Evil", "I'm a Devil" "I Made Vil" or "I MadeEvil"?
  22. Hey all. Probbably don't remember me (I was Joshtek on the old forums, and Magic J since the first year of RS). Flicking through the UK edition of PC Format magazine I noticed RuneScape appears as a game review, heres some quotes and score: "The monthly sub has long been a sticking point for the MMORPG, so we're pleased to see that Jagex will let anybody into its browser-based offering without charging a bean ... You get lots of features for your non-expenditure, with the usual array of skills, quests, deeply unimaginative characters and vaguely addictive repetition, and stumping up ÃÆââ¬Å¡Ãâã3.20 a month brings even more. Unfortunately, there's no community involvement beyond buying stuff and hitting people, and there's not much skill needed even for that. None of the challanges require anything beyond repeated clicking of the left mouse button, and the limited viewpoint of the Java interface makes even this a bit of a trial, maing your character more likely to start chopping down trees than change in to attack. It's breathtakingly ugly, too. Still, it's one of the better online distractions we've come across. If you'e low on cash and system specs, it's well worth a look." "Crude and Clunky, but surprinsingly comprehensive", 65% (contains picture of RuneScape 2 and them eating a cabage with all low stats)
  23. I believe that there may be a god, but I am not convinced by any of the current religions theories. I also believe there may not be a god, and that a higher power may not be anything like us humans at all - it might not even be very clever.
