  1. It has been suggested many times by many players that those who do not have fast internet connections are more than able to relocate to an internet café or a library.
  2. Chickens require no specific equipment, levels, teams, etc, etc. Why should GWD require any of those things? Why should the Corporeal Beast? Your argument is flawed. This is how dangerous precedents are set, like the one that was set today by Mod Chris L. I think it's safe to say that we will never see another monster that requires anything more than the necessary levels to fight. I wont be surprised if every GWD boss is changed to only attack with melee. We wouldn't want the poor players to have to actually PREPARE for them, would we? Users can be assigned these as tasks, currently, without firecapes? (Can you confirm, or someone?) Why should they have to skip the task and lose their Task streak or whatever it's called because it's not humanly possible for them to obtain an item unless they pay money for broadband or something? Users can choose not to go to GWD, Corporeal Beast etc. But here, they can't just choose. It's a ridiculous requirement, and in my eyes, was since the beginning. Not everyone wishes to sit in a combat situation for 2 hours fighting beasts hoping their connection isn't lost. Players were not able to be assigned ice wyrms unless they owned a fire cape. Players who were not "able" (which is complete bull) to get a fire cape did not have to worry about their task streaks being compromised. Like GWD and the Corp Beast, ice wyrms were a choice.

  4. I'm definitely going to be wearing my fire cape 24/7. I'm also going to be harassing players slaying ice wyrms who don't have fire capes. Maybe if I do it enough they'll start complaining and get free speech nerfed.
  5. Not really much difficult than having a slayer monster that, say, requires a quest to access. Personally my thing with the fire cape req is that a quest can be done without a chance of failure and wasting X hours doing it over and over with nothing to show for it. Summer's End. While Guthix Sleeps. Nomad's Requiem. Mourning's End Pt. II. Need I continue?
  6. I think it's most likely because the goal of all Slayers seems to be to kill the monsters that drop shiny things (10m+ staff sound familiar?). I'm quite sure anybody excluded via the fire cape wouldn't be happy with that. While I'm trying to remain unbiased here, you've gotta look at it from a hardcore Slayer without a fire cape's perspective; "I already have the level to kill those but a minigame is preventing me!?" Can you see where the hubbub begins at least? No, I can't. Jad is a slayer task. Any slayer who uses Kuradal should have had at least a few of those by now.
  7. Closed mouths don't get fed. You can't expect people to go on the forums after every update, give Jagex a pat on the back and say "please don't change it". If that's what it takes to stop the compromises, then do it. People who are content with the update need to let their voices be heard, otherwise they'll be overshadowed by these smaller groups and all those players who are content with the update won't even exist. I hate to say it, but Demby is right. It's becoming more and more necessary for the silent and appeased majority to become the loud and appeased majority. I would highly recommend that any Tip.iter who would prefer the update to remain unchanged to immediately start posting on every thread in the RSOF. A few of us are already (or have been) doing it.
  8. EDIT: D'oh, totally misunderstand.
  9. EDIT: QFC 15-16-935-60415243, by Mod Chris L. 15-16-4-60409648, page 12, by Mod Emilee: Since this post, more and more slayers who actually appreciate the fire cape requirement are starting to post on the RSOF. I'm hoping that the compromise is something hilarious, such as ice wyrms requiring an inferno adze . . . with melee.
  10. Fighting a dust devil without a facemask might have the same effect.
  11. Zotto, you could try ranging him till the healers come, then beasting him with dragon claws. At the very least it'll make it a little more enjoyable.
  12. Either bring melee armor and protect mage or karil's and protect melee. Depends on your magic and defense levels. I highly recommend that you use piety.
  13. The you need to take another look at ranged because it is far more underpowered than melee or mage atm. Dragon crossbow is something range needs to become part of the combat triangle again. (and if it fails like the hc i will will blow up Jagex ) I completely disagree. Ranged hasn't gotten any updates lately, but it's far from underpowered. Morrigan's weapons, dragonstone bolts, and handcannons are all heavy hitters. Ranged is still a big contender.
  14. The Q&A sounds more like an upgrade to defense than a new weapon or something. PKers wont be able to not utilize it.
  15. Quick find code: 15-16-312-60398074 Asked on page 2 at the bottom answered at the top of page 3. Turns out theres a bug with void mace+CoG+hexcrest not sure if its solely with rex or in generally, but the max hit is limited to 33 (or 37 with normal potions) making me think it doesn't take into account the hex at all. I've submitted a bug report and plan on trying earth surge on rex just to see if that works. Thanks for that. I was a bit annoyed that the KB had no information on the hexcrest and focus sight, so I was a little bit skeptical despite the mention of their abilities in the news article.
  16. What the [bleep] is this [cabbage]? 0/10.
  17. I would kind of agree, but the SOL is so badass that I don't see how they could add anything else to magic without making it overpowered for the first time in years. I'd say that the triangle is mostly perfect right now. Not everything deals with PvP ya know. I'd whip out a random statistic, but I think it's easy enough to say that not even half the players of this game PvP enough to even notice the combat triangle. If it's PvM we are talking about, then the combat triangle is no where near being balance. The best way to analize the system is by taking a step back and figuring out what style of combat is used the most. If the same amount of people use range as much as they use mage, and mage to melee to range to melee again, then the system would have no need to be changed. However that is not the case because Magic costs way too much to use and it doesn't have a high hit rate on all monsters, thus making it imbalanced because who would use Mage when you can use range or melee well over 1/10 of the cost. Range is not used as much as melee because if you want to actually train it with a reasonable cost you won't hit nearly as good. Not to mention every monster is created with melee being it's top priority, because there really aren't that many intentional safe spots in this game. Range and mage would be used more if there were monsters with safespots that hit so much and through prayer that tanking would be stupid to do. Simple to say, it's hard to range or mage when you might as well melee since you're going to be tanking anyways. As I'm not PKer and I understand that a very low percentage of the population engages in PVP activity regularly, your first comment is unnecessary. The advent of staffs that save runes and myriad of ways to increase damage with mage has made it a viable training option in PVM. If you've played at all in the past week you'll have noticed a larger number of players wearing mage gear looking like they're banking between slayer tasks. I'm mage slaying myself right now.

  19. Everyone hates Valentine's Day, it seems. I've always enjoyed it for various reasons, but this Valentine's Day was by far the best one I've had. I took an eight hour drive up to Sacramento for my aunt's birthday on Saturday, which was fun. On Sunday morning (Valentine's Day) I drove three hours to San Francisco to see my girlfriend for the first time in two weeks or so. We took a bus to the beach, got chips and salsa at a little restaurant nearby, and walked along the shore while she took pictures of me with her new camera (which is actually an old camera that she bought for a hundred bucks). We went and strolled around Golden Gate Park, admiring the scenery, being generally cute together, etc. At about 5:00PM we went to the Beach Chalet, which we had reservations for, and ate a huge meal (calamari, clam chowder, a very fancy burger, whatever she got, etc). We then went on a long trek back to the bus stop, then back to her apartment where we exchanged gifts. She got me the new John Mayer CD, a book, and she had written me a little story in the card she got me. Being infinitely cheaper than her, my gift was a haiku that had two different endings. It was meant to be silly, of course; No one really takes haiku's seriously. I paid for dinner and made the trip to go see her, so I didn't feel too bad. I left the next morning. I wont be seeing her again till late March or early April when she comes down for Spring Break. There's a little bit more to the story, but I'd rather not have the mods jump down my throat for posting inappropriate material. I'll leave that to the imagination. ;) GOOD NEWS: I'm enrolled in badminton and French 2 so far. Hopefully I get speech and English tomorrow, but we'll see. As soon as I post this blog I'm going to go visit a small restaurant in the hopes that they'll hire me. Namaste, Obtaurian
  20. Hahaha, nice going with the bear.
  21. Nice guide, 2noob. I agree with you that speed is definitely preferable if you're just looking for lumberjack clothing. I used the easy companion on the medium route at first when I was looking for full lumberjack, but I quickly switched to the easy route. I just used full proselyte and protection prayers, but the monsters are so weak that it didn't matter. I'll be using your guide when I try to max my flail.
  22. Thank you very much, Psy and Morionic.
  23. How does your magic level affect the max hit of slayer dart? At what levels does the max hit increase? I'm pretty sure the max is 19, correct? Your average hit is somewhere between 0 and your max, correct? How much magic experience do you get per damage point? Thanks.
