I chose lunar staff. I just can't imagine the other items looking good with alternate colors. I use my lunar staffs everyday.

TzHaar City - The Rebirth?
I plan on spending my tokkul from slayer tasks on an onyx so that I can make a ring and imbue it. I know a guy who camped TzHaar for two weeks to get an onyx for himself (he's a DIY player). Nice read, Campbell.

16-Feb-10 Familiarisation (POST YOUR CLUES!)
Seems like a nice little update. I'll be doing it once a week and then saving it for waterfiends tasks. I like that you don't have to use the rewards right away. The complaining is hilarious, as we just got a huge update last week.

Post and discuss all Jagex Twitter updates here!
Familiars attacking faster? Charms through skilling? BOB that holds 24 items? New familiar that makes prayer a little bit cheaper/easier? I'm down.

Dcing sucks.
I lol'd at Omali's joke, too. Sorry Pitac. Funny how we were both Dh'ing black demons at the same time with mostly the same gear, but you die.

08-Feb-10 - Musical Update & Strykewyrms
Utter nonsense. The situations you described were a result of your lack of skill and experience, not chance. You don't want to look up a guide? That's okay, but it's on you to find the best way to deal with the fight caves rather complaining because you refuse to receive advice. PROTIP: The range attack doesn't make a sound until it hits you, which is why you put on range protect as you kill the last 360.

Tip.it Times 24 January 2010
Um...no duh if you have played for longer you're going to have more money and stuff. Of course if you play for longer you're going to have accumulated more money. Someone who started back in 2002 is obviously going to have more money than someone who started yesterday. The whole point is that by the time you get to the same playtime as the person who started 8 years ago, there's no reason why you couldn't be in exactly the same place they're at now. I'm not saying that you can just decide, "I want to be rich." and see a phat set miraculously appear in your bank. Functionally, there's very little difference between playing longer per day and having started playing sooner. You need to keep in mind that the relevant statistic here is not total wealth/accomplishment but the rate at which it increases. If a rich guy has a 100 million gp, and a noob has 100gp, the rich guy earns 10k per day, the noob earns 20k per day. The noob will take 100million/20k days to catch up, BUT keep in mind that the rich guy is still earning money. So the noob can't really catch up unless this experiment goes on and on. I see your point about reaching the same amount of money as the rich guy, BUT my argument still stands - how is someone who plays half an hour a day, earning say 50k catch up with someone who has 100 million gp? He'll have to play for 2 million days to catch up. Even if your target is 10 million gp or something more realistic, you still have to play for 20 000 days, which is approximately 54 years. How possible is that? If the guy is around 15 years old, he'll have to play until he's 70 to get that amount of money. Even if he can play 2 hours on weekends and public holidays, etc, I doubt the decrease will be significant. maybe 40+ years still. Making the target a million gp, you'll still have to play roughly 5 years to acculmulate that amount of wealth. And I'm sure most rich guys have far more than a million gp. No offence but your argument is really bad. 20,000 days for 10m? What are you talking about? I don't think its taken anyone that long to reach that kind of money, not even for a "noob". I think what you're not taking into account is that a "noob" will increase their income overtime, he/she won't just stay at 50k an hour or whatever they're making forever. I'm not sure where you're pulling some of your numbers from, but 5 years for 1 mil? At a modest 200k an hour you can get that in 5 hours playtime. 50k in half an hour is quite high for F2P, which is the context I'm talking about. I doubt a poor guy has enough money for membership -.-. For a guy to getting 50k an hour, he'll take 40 hours to get 1 million gp. And most busy people have around 1-2 hours to play, on weekends. So he'll take around half a year to earn that 1 million gp. That is reasonably short, but to catch up with a REALLY rich guy, it'll probably take 2-3 years or so, even with increased profit along the way. To get 100 million gp, a poor guy would have to play for 1000 hours, provided he earns 100k an hour. It'll take him ~10 years to earn 100million gp. And note that 100k/hour is very high for F2P unless you're a really good merchant or have very high levels. Let's just push the limits and make it 200k/hour. He'd still take ~5 years. Not exactly what I'd call a reasonable period of time. In summary, the fact still remains that the noob will take a long long time to catch up with the rich guy. P.S. I'm sorry that I calculated wrongly - I wrote 50gp in place of 50k in the calculator. No wonder I got such distorted numbers. I hate to break it to you, but you REALLY need to clarify when you're talking about F2P, as most forum users will assume that you're talking about P2P. There's a big difference.

Uses for the staff of light
Not very long, the recharging fee needs to be lowered further. Last time i had a full set, it lasted about half the time my barrows armor did. 50% rune return is pretty OP... charging it isnt a problem if you actually enjoy FoG I don't know how long it takes to charge the robes, but FOG is definitely a cinch if you're high level with a good KO weapon.

Uses for the staff of light
The problem is that there are spells available that hit 30 or more that require certain staffs.

08-Feb-10 - Musical Update & Strykewyrms
Well said. I've been posting in the recent updates section of the RSOF furiously in an attempt to show Jagex that there players who like the way strykewyrms were implemented. From the time I've spent there the past day, I'd guesstimate that the players being vocal about not wanting the fire cape to be a requirement outweigh the players who want it to stay the way it is. However, it seems as though nearly everyone who doesn't like the fire cape requirement is either A) not even close to 93 slayer, B ) apparently seventy years old, deaf, and unable to move their right arms (seriously, I've seen all three), or C) lacking a decent internet connection. A and C are easily worked around. If you have B, you might be out of luck.

Power slaying?
Huh, first you say you want a prossy top + fire cape, then you say bandos chestplate + soul wars cape is better (which it is, in every single stat) It was more of a, "here's what you should use, but this is better if you have it."

Uses for the staff of light
As I said in the other thread, I think the main use of the staff is for mage slaying. However, I love that the staff has multiple applications.

08-Feb-10 - Musical Update & Strykewyrms
I see the Staff of Light as more of an incentive for players to mage slay than anything. At least, that's what I'll be using it for.

That's actually not a terrible idea. Agreed. Some sort of high level Vyrewatch type slayer monster that requires a maxed Ivandis Flail would be pretty cool. It's even cooler cause, like Jad, the minigame is instanced, so people can do it on their own time. EDIT: It doesn't necessarily have to be a Vyrewatch, of course.

Arma can be done at your leisure, not in 2 hour chunks. And if someone goes to arma, it is because they ACTUALLY WANT to go to arma, not because they are forced to to kill a monster. Oh, and I am yet to see someone with a hexcrest equiped, anyone got pics? Yet the fight caves can be completed in ten minute intervals and in under an hour of total play time. On top of that, the only risk is spending money on supplies. What's your point? You are telling me that it is realistic and feasible to do the caves in 10 minute intervals? And show me a single person that can beat jad in under an hour for their first cape. Some people only play 30 minutes at a time/day, why make a quite honestly stupid requirement? I don't have the slayer level, and if/when I do I plan to have had a fire cape for a long while, but the requirement to have one to kill these seems very forced and added just to give firecape a special purpose I am, actually. How is it not? Do a couple waves, log out, get some food, go to the bathroom, hang out with your friends, come back, do a couple more waves, etc, etc. I certainly don't recommend that a player attempt to beast the fight caves in under an hour for their first cape, but it's an option nonetheless. Besides, how many people get their cape the first time? It's an endeavor that requires skill and patience. You can use SirHemen's guide to simulate the fight against Jad, which will help, but more often than not you're going to want to do a few trial runs through the caves before you seriously attempt it. I got my fire cape on my second try. The first try was done with bone bolts, prayer potions, and a couple monks.

I think that the logic behind the fire cape is that it both protects you from the ice wyrm and allows you to harm it. Fire spells are icing on the cake.

08-Feb-10 - Musical Update & Strykewyrms
I totally agree. Just like getting a fire cape, the champion's challenge requires all luck and no skill, therefore it should totally be the new requirement to get into the champion's guild. Not to mention that both the fight caves and the champion's guild are low level aspects of the game. EDIT: Out of curiosity, was that a serious argument, Lep? I sincerely hope that it wasn't.

Power slaying?
For power slaying, you definitely want a proselyte top, Verac's skirt, and a fire cape. Use piety/turmoil on everything. Exceptions are dags, spectres, and any other monster that dies too quickly to really utilize it. A better setup is Bandos plate, V skirt, and SW cape.

I'm glad that they're adding jungle wyrms to Kuradal's list. It might be a slight inconvenience to have one more monster to think about when slaying, but the drops and the FUN are probably worth it. I think they poison, correct? It's interesting that all three wyrms have certain abilities or conditions that you have work around, which is exactly what slayer should be like.
